Some positions manufacture the items in some types of companies, other companies have to pay to order stock. All of it is sold to NPC customers that you can get by increasing your advertising budget, having high stat workers, and making sure you have players in the correct position to bring in customers. It's all very complicated, but at the end of the day pretty simple once you understand what's going on, check out the guide that was posted above for more details
