So the competitions relly should be spread out!
September - elim
October - trick or treat
November - dog tags
Rest of year - nothing it's crazy we need a break in between trick or treat
Ched : decides 1 day break between TT and dog tags
My fellow noobs :- Should they be spread out

Sadly, attacking is the only significant player interaction mechanic in Torn aside from trading.

We should have alternate modes of interaction. Massages, snuggling, table tennis, shared psilocybin trips...
And, by god, we need something to do with our wives/husbands! -

I can see your perspective, where you feel like you're constantly being picked on, unable to do things, can't afford revives and your med cooldown is low, your stats need work and all your targets are hosped before you can get to them, the frustration... "this is the worst!" Chill, you're not the only noob who is inconvenienced. The "worst" is when you're going through that and there's no event going on, and someone is actually spending their efforts to make you feel like that, for months on end.
These events are fuel, you get some motivation to be better so you're more useful next time. Your perspective on them will change in correlation to your stat growth.
For people that have gone through rounds and rounds of this every year, these events *are* their break, from serious training, and they beast long chains and smash some skulls. It's easier to keep them one after the other so factions don't need to keep rearranging their specials. -

attacking comps are the easiest to run from a dev perspective to keep the plebs entertained
you know, rather than working on crimes 2.0 and new agents. -

We definitely don't plan to remove this event - we're glad it's been so popular and I hope people see now why we had said last year's version will seem dull by comparison! We are hoping this event becomes something people actively plan for and look forward to, hence why we've made it in such a way that it gives long term rewards. You keep the upgrades each year along with your basket so you can continue to grow within it, during the week of the event you can gather treats but you can exchange them at any point in the year.
I understand peoples' concerns with the proximity of other attacking contests though, I can see both sides of the arguments here - I don't think moving dog tags is an unreasonable request, and the other side of that is that perhaps we have one section of the year that is very attacking focused to give people a break from just training - but yes I fully see how that can wear on people. We won't be moving anything just yet as that would be a tad unfair to do so last minute - but we're open to discussions about it!
We have a few ideas in the pipeline... However we are also open to other possible competition ideas...!Last edited by bogie on 17:30:48 - 01/11/20 -

I'm so offended by this, using a rope to strangle your snuggle victims...

Elimination - Everyone should experience it, and actually push through their perma-hosp frustrations. It teaches you so much about the game, and warfare. Communication, energy management, lining up targets, keeping your money safe, how to play under fire, etc. etc. It also lets you meet players out of your circle, and usually out of your league, and friends are a very important resource in Torn.
Halloween - Really enjoyed it this year. I think the 'reward those that invest well', and 'the noobs can never catch up' mechanics are very Torn. A fun break for the hardcore, and a way to earn dollars passively if you're not. Win-win. The bucket buying mechanic needs polishing, but apart from that, seems to be a very well received event.
Dogtags - I would imagine it was awesome its first year - I had fun my first year. I lost all interest after I found out the tactics people use to win it, but more power to them; its a game and they're gaming it. I also think the 'trading to level' tactic, and 'feeding / getting people to feed' all require you to exercise play styles of Torn different to the other events.
Having said all that - It would be nice to space them out a bit. 1 day between halloween and dogtags has me skipping dogtags. I cant neglect my stats for that long. -

It's an attacking game. Not farmville.
