Is Torn's economy going out of control is future going to get even more expensive
The rising prices in torn are astonishing, what will be the outcome of these prices and the future of Torn
In the past Beers and Candys have peaked at Extraordinary prices on certain events and competitions, but have dropped as fast as the peaks after events
but the current trend is looking every different too past events and is showing a steady slow climb and looks to continue in the future
Beers $10 from Bits n Bobs for years have been under $1,000 and only show high pricing before 2018
Big Box of Chocolate Bars $N/A but have sold at steady prices around $3,000 again peaked before 2018
These Slow but sure climbs in prices are continuing and people with low incomes are being affected
One of the reasons this may be happening is that warring in Torn has ceased and more people are training and doing crimes
Just take a look at the City Now, has it become a Ghost Town
More sweets used for Training, more crimes more beers, the Circulations of beer and sweet continue to grow 7m beers 82m sweets
So why are the prices going up and not down if they are so many available
It is clearly caused by traders getting too greedy and hauling all the stocks, It is the bazaars that set the prices and not the peoples market they just following inline trying to sell lower than bazaars trying to set trend, only to be bought out by traders to be sold at higher prices
what can we do about this, can the people rebel
sadly not
We have no control, mugging and beating up traders will not end it
the only thing that affects pricing and use of sweets and beers would be wars, which we badly need and waited years for it to happen
This there an End to this, where is it taking us

then days were very different to now
everything had its ups and downs and many wars
this dull lull of doing nothing is affecting torn in ways not seen before -

There are a lot of new players in the game and they are affecting the markets a lot of them are trading. On market changes, things do change over time but sometimes the change is forced.
Its funny you mention big box of chocolates. There is at least 1 player who collects them, also i do know a field mouse who is actively 'fixing' them. He does have a team of smaller field mice helping him as well
And they are fixing other stuff as well. I dont know him that well i have only had a few chats with him.
Collecting is a massive thing in this game. I have always ran a bazaar for collectors and i do sell a LOT of stuff.
Big Box of Chocolates are also a useful item for the new player who wants to boost happy on a budget. They do give a nice amount of happy, that will always fuel the market for them.
A lot of intrepid field mice are not rich enough for EDVD or more expensive candies. But they do what they can to train with higher happy ie big boxes of chocolates.Forum signatures make my eyes hurt so i have turned them off.

I took a year break from RS and the economy collapsed when they introduced P2W. Something that took a LONG time to get suddenly dropped 1000% in price lol

Posted on 15:54:39 - 31/08/20 (1 year ago)Post link copied to clipboard Copy post linkThat's had other effects too - for one, expensive EDVDs were a huge factor of what drove people to Big Boxes of Chocolates, which in turn caused a price hike and an overall drop in EDVDs being bought as everyone opted for the cheaper option. That's brought down EDVD prices, and frankly will some more, so that they're affordable to newbies again.
Do I think warring will help? Certainly! It would also make cans/FHCs more expensive which will affect mid-tier players in the way that you said affected low level players. That's how economies work, no one makes bank all the time.
What would help even more, I think, is for staff to add new ways to get in-demand items in to the game. Players adapt, the Torn community's ingenious is what kept it going for so long. So long as the game allows room for said adaptation, it'll work, might just not be as fun.Last edited by Confused_Edd on 16:20:25 - 31/08/20 -

I feel like playing tychoon sometimes ratherthan rts game tbh.
Well about price, it fluctuates no?
Edvd is up, big box of choc is up, but xanax afaik has been down. Iirc it was 840k when I first joined and now 832k. While donator pack price is going up.
This is mainly because lock down and global econ crisis imo. Many new players and returners people were in Q&A forum that had been asking questions about train. And some of them stated the covid lock down brought them to torn. N their number was just the tip of the iceberg. I believe there were a lot morethan the ones who posted.
It will be back normal soon. You can see edvd price is going down, bbchoc is stable, and xanax is climbing up. Probably because the new players has passed the hj train period and enter 3x xanax a day train. And also lock down is over. Many players become less active than they were during lock down. However I don't see the world can escape global econ crisis anytime soon. So I think many ppl irl just don't have much money to spend in the game and they start buying donator packs with game money.
Med kits will never be the same anymore. That's because the new change in waring. But I still believe morphine and blood bags will rise during elim days. While fak n sfak will not. I think fhc will be up to 15 mill but edvd will crash a lot more during elim.
Idt think traders have that magic power as you described to control the price for that long. Go ahead try on sfak and fak. If supply is way bigger than demand, no matter how much you hoard the items to jack up the price, you end up losing money imo.
Also reason why bbchoc is expensive is because we have crime guides. More people are informed that stealing chocolates is not worth losing our crime exp by going to jail.
Ps: since this is very technical discussion, pardon for my grammar error here and there. I hope I explained my points perfectly tho. ThxLast edited by DedeSilver on 16:37:59 - 31/08/20 -

Cringe! Relatable...I spent a lot of years slaving away for full dragon's armor in the pre-grand exchange days, long before you could spend real money on game money. Had to earn everything... later I came back and dragon's armor was shit, there'd be hundreds of people stacked around the banks in the GE, skilling hard and rotating their inventories, all that's needed to level up is to buy the right materials and supplies,do the thing, sell, buy more, repeat, etc. Holy crap, ruined the game for me.
I imagine that would be the equivalent of quitting torn for, say, 5 years, coming back and your private island is crap compared to the intergallactic space ship 1, 2, 3 (6k, 7k, 8k max happiness), the gak you spent 25b on is now still worth 25b, but you can make 25b in the game within 3 hours of laser-fighting on planet tornitronx, but to get access to that you have to be level 42 in a special members only skill which turns out is different than your sub , not to mention there are now 17 better primaries, valued at 700-15Trillion each, and *everyone* has them.. -
