Thread created on 09:58:03 - 04/06/25 (1 month ago)Hello all,
We're looking to bring a skilled developer on board to assist in continuing the rebuild of Torn's internal staff systems.
You would be working with React and Typescript for the front-end, and PHP / mySQL for the backend, so these skills are essential to be able to work effectively on these systems.
This is an opportunity to work directly on the tools that support Torn's moderation and administration, improving workflows, reliability, and the experience for staff across the board. Do bear in mind that this is a mix of old and new code, which should be assumed based on the age of the game, which you should be comfortable working with. The role may involve fixing issues in old code as well as recreating new tools.
The ideal candidate will have:
- React/Typescript experience with solid front-end development skills
- Proficient in PHP, comfortable working in object-oriented programming (OOP) environments.
- Proficient in MySQL, including developing and optimizing queries spanning multiple database schemas
- Dedication to Torn, familiarity with the game is essential
- Proactive mindset, being able to take initiative and work independently is key
- Clear communication, you must be comfortable reporting progress and flagging issues
- Moderation experience (either within Torn or externally) is a plus
- Preferably based in a European time zone for reliable team communication. You'll be working under the guidance of Julie and myself. We'll provide training on existing tools and offer ongoing support. The staff team will also help direct priorities and share ideas for improvements, which you'll be encouraged to expand upon with your own initiative.
If you're a developer who knows Torn, cares about its future, and wants to make a meaningful impact behind the scenes, we'd love to hear from you.
Please reach out via DM or contact us directly at webmaster@torn.com if you're interested or have any questions.
