Thread created on 08:12:40 - 09/05/25 (2 months ago)Hello all,
We're announcing a formal update to our rules page to provide clearer and more consistent scope for dealing with cases of deliberate facilitation of rule breaking.
While actions such as aiding multi-account abuse, covering for known cheaters, and facilitating illicit asset transfers have always been against the rules in the most extreme and obvious of cases, we've now added a dedicated ABETTING violation entry to make enforcement and player understanding more direct and transparent.
- What does this change mean?
This new rule entry gives staff the ability to take clear action in scenarios where a player:Knowingly collaborates with rule violators for personal or shared gain
Covers up multi-account abuse within their faction or friend group for shared gain
Middleman transfers between alternate or restarted accounts to hide illicit activity
For example, if a faction leader is fully aware that a member is running multiple accounts, and continues to shield them or benefit from that behavior — this rule would apply. Likewise, if a player knowingly helps a friend by transferring assets to a new or restarted account to preserve wealth across bans or unfairly across new accounts, this is now explicitly covered by this rule. This is referenced currently in the account closure pages, but now is explicitly defined on the rules page for further clarity and consistency.
- Why now?
We're committed to keeping Torn fair for everyone. These actions have always violated the spirit of fair play—this rule simply makes our expectations and enforcement guidelines more visible and enforceable. This isn't related to any recent cases, this has been in consideration for some time and the updated rules page is now ready to go live following the design of this category. Thanks for helping us keep the game clean. As always, if you're unsure about anything, reach out via a report or message a member of staff before taking action in-game.
