    1. Canada
    2. Cayman Islands
    3. Mexico

    Middle hauls

    1. Argentina
    2. UK
    3. Hawaii
    4. Switzerland

    DETAILS & REASONS

There is already a very comprehensive guide on travelling with regards to what to buy, profit margin and selling to traders.

    https://www.torn.com/forums.php#/p=threads&f=61&t=16348846&b=0&a=0

I do not see a recommended travel guide sequence for newbies. I will just like to share my experience here.

Initially, I saw that traders usually give a 10% extra for selling in sets for both plushies and flowers. So, I tried that and it was very tough. I targeted plushies, but sometimes plushies ran out of stock and I was forced to buy flowers, so I needed to build 2 different sets before I could sell a complete set. Also, I needed to top up other plushies from Bits and Bobs which also constantly ran out of stock or limited to max 100 items. I had a PI rental and upkeep to pay, so the pressure was there. I needed to set alarm(s) to wake up in the middle of the night and also kept track of the stock till it made a set. Bottom-line, my entire life routine was disrupted. I was not getting any merits from travelling as well.

    Why is it important?

    1. Getting the 50x travel merits quicker in sequence.
    2. You know the routine and you can stop travelling when you sleep to avoid being mugged abroad.
    3. You can just sell whatever you have to pay off your PI rental and upkeep.
    4. Natural generation of energy and nerve is spent efficiently either in Torn or abroad.
    5. If a short or middle haul is needed if you need to sleep, race or be in Torn for OC, it can be easily planned.
    6. Since it is routine, you know exactly how much to bring each trip.

    https://arsonwarehouse.com/foreign-stock

I would recommend travelling 50 trips in this order:

    1. Short -> Middle -> Long
    2. Give priority to countries in that category with both plushies and flowers
    3. Give priority to countries with a cheaper alternative e.g. flowers are cheaper

    Short hauls

    1. Canada (better profits, both pushies and flowers are cheap, also Aluminum Plates)
    2. Cayman Islands (a lot of muggers there so sometimes, they may just try you)
    3. Mexico (alternative flowers high cost, mugging is extremely frequent)

    Middle hauls

    1. Argentina (1 plushy, 1 flower & tear gas)
    2. UK (2 plushies and 1 flower)
    3. Hawaii (only flowers)
    4. Switzerland (whenever you need to rehab)

Long hauls  (best if you are a subscriber/donator and you have joined a faction with max nerve upgraded)

    1. South Africa (hunt/mug/revive till about 40-45E to get cash if needed. Xanax/smoke).
    2. China (best profit/time for both plushies and flowers, although flowers are expensive. Mug/revive with excess energy)
    3. Japan (Flowers & glow sticks. Attack/revive till about 60E)
    4. UAE (alternative flowers are expensive. Hopefully, Windless BB is there to speed up travel. Mug/revive with excess energy. 45-50E.)

    Tips

    1. Sending/Trading from Torn - In case, you are unaware, Torn has some strange advance digital technology. If you forget to bring money or enough money to buy plushies/flowers/drugs/rehab, etc., you can approach your faction mates, friends or online chat mates to send you money. In fact, they can send you anything from Torn and you will receive it in the air or when you land (go figure, imagining sending you a car). Bazaar items sold also updates your wallet. But the strange thing is it does not work the other way round or when you want to trade. You can make use of this to ask them to send you money when you are short of money (when mugged) or simply bring $0 to SA and send the money over when you are ready to buy Xanax. Discovered you can also ghost trade with people travelling. Sorry muggers...
    2. Hospitalize Yourself Abroad during Restock - credits to my faction mate. You can always check Arsonwarehouse foreign stock before you go, but there may be a slight variation of a few minutes. Also, sometimes it just takes too long or too much effort to check and wait than just to travel immediately (also you are following my travelling guide sequence 😬). You reached there and it ran out of stock. Worse, sometimes flowers only country takes forever to restock. You can attack an idle level 100 player using fists only, send him/her a mail to apologize for the reason "no stock and free loss" and wait for 20-30 minutes. Check the arsonwarehouse for restock and repeat if necessary. After restock and out of hospital, buy and immediately fly back. Sorry muggers again...
    3. Weapon/Temp/Hand-to-Hand/Unarmored Finishes - Use a different weapon/temp/fists/kick to complete 100 various finishes merits while attacking abroad. You can also consider combining 250 unarmoured finishes if you are adventurous.

    More Tips

*Update: Japan has the cheapest Xanax now, but always out of stock. Also, prices of items fluctuates.

UK has the 2nd lowest cost & highest profit/hr for Xanax.

South Africa (Travel Time: top 1000 under 1000 days)

    1. SA lets me stay productive in game with minimum screen time
    2. Working on tiger camo
    3. Extra money from hunting, at hunting level 99+, advanced hunting is getting me around 100k per hunt on average. I usually burn E down to 40-50e so that i arrive in TC with full energy
    4. 7h SA flight is just about average cooldown on Xanax (6-8h) so it's a plus minus nice pattern of "fly-xan-fly-xan-fly-xan" etc

Of course, feel free to adjust accordingly e.g. World Tiger Day, buy Xanax for rank wars/chaining, etc.

    Feel free to comment please

    UPDATE: Tourism Day (26 - 28 Sep 24)

Travel Capacity doubled for flights leaving during this period. How can a travel guide miss out this event?

My recommendation is to spam flights to Mexico during this event.

Actually, after going through Tourism Day, with double the items and items snapped up so fast, it was impractical to just spam Mexico.

What I did was to check Arsonwarehouse stocks & travelled to Mexico/Cayman/Canada accordingly. I also travelled empty handed to South Africa when I slept. Then, ask someone in Torn to send money.

Last flight out of Torn to furthest or most profitable country, since taking account of out-going flight.

Trafficker award - Import 10K items from abroad.

I recommend to go for the Long distance in the beginning.
The reason for that is pretty simple:

As a new player Happyjumps or chocojumps are more effective than normal training (until 200k to 400k in a stat. But that's another topic to tackle).
This means you're most probably be stacking Energy for 28 hours.
During this time you can't lose out on natural Energy regeneration since you're already over 150/150 Energy.

Actually, I had a debate with one of former faction mate with regards to this topic.

I mentioned in order to do Happy Jumps, I would need that first pot of gold. He said "why can't you travel to make money & fund the Happy Jumps at the same time?"

I thought hard about it and my conclusion is the invested Happy Jumps needs to have a positive Return Of Investment (ROI) e.g. rank war earnings, mugging others, etc.and not HJ for the sake of HJ.

It also depends on priority. My priority is 2B in the bank and merits, so that was my basis for my recommendation.

Well of course the plan has to fit your goals.
I would argue: When you have to fly the long distance destinations in "lategame" you're missing out on time in Torn.
At the beginning you can't do much in torn since your budget is limited. Later on (after flying for a few weeks) You've got budget to trade, exchange points, flip items... Time, that would earn you money and fill your bank.

I think there are arguments pro and con for both. So no reason to argue since it would go back and forth.
I agree that you atleast should have a plan (and set timers to not miss out) and set yourself a goal to pursuit.

My trips were based on my real life working day...

If I was going to be busy with not much access to Torn, then it was long distance flights..

    Semi busy then mid range.

Chilling kinda day or after work then blast the short trips

And don't forget the other merits involved.

    Attacking a number of people.

    Buying a certain number

And the amount of travel time

Your analysis on the short/medium/long haul destinations are good. I just don't understand the logic of doing them in that order.

The further you have to fly (excluding Switzerland) the more profit per hour you make.

So long haul flights are always more profitable.

However, you do waste E if you fly long haul. Although you could use the E to attack people abroad for exp and merits, or Revive if that's your playstyle.

If you don't want to waste E then medium haul flights are best.

I would only recommend short haul if you need to fit a shorter flight in.

In all cases just fly to whichever country offers the most profit per hour.

Lots of tools to check this. TornPDA, TornTools, YATA, ArsonWarehouse, TornStats just to name a few

    Thank you for your comment.

The order sequence ensure faster attaining of 50 trips merit. E.g. I can spam flights to Mexico before proceeding to Argentina of 3 flights a day, if I sleep and race at night.

This guide is more targeted towards those just started travelling. I do recognised your point of mid-haul flights do earn more money (when I did Mexico, I said WTF my earnings drop so much). For veterans who kept spamming South Africa or yet to complete 50 trips of all countries can consider my recommendation.

Newbies also usually do not have the revive ability. But I will include your point in my main post since this is a good alternative use of E. Wish Torn can also consider some alternative uses of nerve when abroad.

OK, yeah, from a merit perspective it makes sense.

It's anticipated that we'll be able to use Nerve abroad with Travel 2.0 and Crimes 2.0

I think I stick to the advise that it's best to just travel to place which has the most profitable items for that day.

Eventually you will unlock the museum which means you will be purposely flying to each country to make sets.

I appreciate that you originally did this. But it's different when you can trade in the sets yourself.

In the museum page it's much easier to see how many sets you have. Trade in as many as you can and then it'll tell what is missing. So you fly to that country

I can envision how the developer wants us to progress and grow naturally:

    Newbie (City Job/Employee/Faction member) > Traveller > Trader > Director/Faction leader > Mugger

Of course, which path or how you like to progress, it's entirely up to you. But, the eventual destination will likely be mugger (or you can choose not to, since passive income could be sustainable, or is it?). As explained in a mugger thread that "natural energy training or HJ has little effect on you and the way to progress is to use a stat. enhancer and mugging to buy them is the way to go".

If one uses the natural progression, after unlocking museum, I would have finished all 50 trips of every country (maybe even to-and-back merit of 1K total trips). I will be buying plushies/flowers from Travellers (see the progression?) and staying in Torn all the time to trade and make sets with museum unlocked. That's also the reason, you do not see many level 100 players leaving Torn, but using their time to race, trade, mug, etc.

Updated Japan to long-haul and put in Switzerland to mid-haul instead of travelling last or as and only when rehab.
