It looks like you're mostly betting on second best and still getting ahead. Part of me always wants to slap down a mil on that 150:1 odd and pray I hit the lottery but I stick to this system myself. I'm a new player and I always bet best odds, once I have more money I'll start playing 4:1's too. Seems like you know your shit though.
Horse Racing Guide - The ANO System

Greetings fellow Gamblers!
I have been working on the ANO system for a few months in Torn and I am now confident enough to share the knowledge! I partly want to do this as a way to support other players to gamble in a safer way than throwing money at Red/Black or on RR. I also want to put the system to a more vigorous test and I figure the more testers the better the system will become.
First off I want to make it really clear that whilst this guide has the potential to earn you money there is still a chance that you will lose everything in your “betting bank” over the space of a couple of days. This guide serves as a pretty safe, odds based system that vastly reduces the risk that you will lose long term. These circumstances I think are rare but hey that is gambling right? Some CAVEATS:
- I have made a huge amount of money in a relatively short time and am continuing to do so - I accept no responsibility if you lose everything you have.
- If you can’t afford to lose it, don’t wager it.
- This system is not risk free just risk reduced
- This system is not designed for passive income - it takes some work - but it is fun.
- You will lose races but sticking with the system should net you profit overall
- You will not get rich overnight but you can easily win 50mil+ per day depending on the size of your betting bank
- Deviating from the system will result in greater losses.
- This system has been tested in Torn only and should only be used in Torn as a result - use IRL will be at enormous personal risk and it will not reap the same rewards.
Betting Bank
A Betting Bank is fundamental and you should decide how much money you can afford to lose. The bigger your bank the more you can decide to win each day but as the betting limit for horse racing is currently set at $1 Billion by Torn then you shouldn’t need to put aside any more.
By sticking to the system you should be able to double your betting bank in about 30 days. I would recommend starting with $250mil as a starting point. Looking to win $5mil - $20mil each day depending on your initial stake and number of viable races that day.
The Martingale system
Those of you that have flirted with Russian Roulette will be familiar with the Martingale betting style that the ANO system uses. Essentially you place a bet usually at 2:1 odds and if you lose then you bet again but cover the stake of your previous loss:
$1mil 2:1 = Total loss $1mil
$2mil 2:1 = Total loss $3mil
$4mil 2:1 = Total loss $7mil
$8mil 2:1 = Total loss $15mil
$16mil 2:1 = Total loss $31mil
$32mil 2:1 = Win Win Win $64mil Total profit $1mil
Repeat
This issue with this lies in the odds and after 10 losses, which occurs more often that you would expect it to, you have successfully lost $1b trying to win $1mil.
The addition of the double bullet rule in RR introduces choice and although I haven’t done any research on this it drastically changes the potential outcome dependant on what you or your opponent chooses to do making it much less predictable.
Odds & Apps
The odds in Torn do not update live and therefore you can sometimes find bets that are better odds in Torn than IRL and you can exploit this to reduce the risk to some degree in the Torn bookies. In order to know what the live odds are you will need an easy way to check them and some other key information about each race. This is where the work comes in and there are a number of apps that can do this for you.
I like to use “The Racing App” and “Racing Post” for live odds and to gather the other information that is essential to make the ANO system successful.
Tipsters
Tipster do a lot of the leg work for you, as experts in the field they look at general form, fitness, the history of trainer, jockey and horse. They also take into account the weather and soil conditions and whole boatload of other metrics in order to provide tips. They don’t remain tipsters for long unless they have a good track record of picking winners. Find a tipster you like through which ever app you decide to use or work on a principle of majority tips.
How to pick a WINNER!
In order to narrow down your picks from all the race options available, you will need to know some details about the races. This will drastically reduce the risk of a loss and increase your success rate. I tend to work through the following list and I will only place a bet if ALL of the criteria is met. As a gambler I am constantly fighting the urge to bet outside of the below list but I know that doing so will mean that there is a greater chance of loss and Betting Bank Bankruptcy (BBB).
- Races must have no more the 6 runners - Fewer is better!
- Races must not be steeplechases or Hurdles - these are far too inconsistent
- Race distance must be no more than 7 furlongs
- Runners are between 3 - 5 years old. First & Early Second season horses are not yet conditioned and their form is somewhat unknown, older horses are on their way out.
- The Horse you bet in should be first or second favourite.
- The horse you bet on should have the backing of your tipster or has the majority of tipster backs in the chosen race.
Place your bets
You want to find a number of races that meet your criteria and you should veiw them as a SET of races.
Given the above list there are usually 6 - 12 races per day that meet the criteria and appear in the Torn bookies. Dependant on the results you may get 5 SET's that day or just 1 SET's. you can roll sets over to the following day of course but I often don't bother starting a new set if their are only a couple of races left that day.
Decide how much you want to win and make your first bet. Follow the Martingale system and on subsequent bets ensuring that you cover the stake of your total previous losses in that SET of bets until you make the win.
Here are some examples from the last couple of days:

Potential issues
If you look carefully at the above sets you will see a couple of issues that occurred which had an affect on the winnings and the length of the set.
One frustrating issues is the reduction in winnings if a runner is pulled at the last minute which can reduce your income and potentially drastically. In SET 3 I lost 5% which is no great loss but I have had a 30% reduction before which took the profit from the SET completely.
Another issue is that there have been times when I have accidentally, through laziness or haste bet on chases and hurdles causing the sets to run longer than necessary.
Unicorns
On occasion when looking at the betting options for the day I will find a pick that I will strap a horn on and call a Unicorn! Essentially this is a horse that appears on my reference app, fulfilling all the criteria of the system but the odds are really good in the Torn bookies. The rest of the world will be taking bets at 153:100 and it will be in Torn at 10:1. This is largely down to the delay in the updates as things change and the favourite is scratched because of injury or due to a weigh in issue.
A Unicorn in the set vastly reduces the risk and I often place a side bet because it’s easier to cover the loss in a later one due to the favourable odds.
Deviation
In my experience both in Torn and IRL if you deviate from the system vastly increases the chance of getting slapped and losing everything. As a gambler it is incredibly tempting to rationalise that if I have lost the last 5 bets the chances are that I’m going to win the next one so I might as well sell my PI and put another 500mil on it. What you need to try and do is view the system as business / income generator and be happy with your $2mil or $5mil winnings.
I would be keen to hear feedback on the system from anyone who chooses to give it a try. Here is the thread in the gambling forum that provides tips and unicorns:

I do exactly the same but it is a separate beast to the system - that’s the bit that satisfies my gambling urge and allow me to work the system without being tempted to screw it up.
