DUKE Mission Targets getting tougher!

This is an advise to those who always have difficulty with Duke targets. If you notice them to be always using Melee weapons only. Also an awareness campaign of mine of the Parry Bonus being underrated, as you will soon realize it has its place among a few precarious situations.
Tldr : Here (Post #2 and #3)
If you notice, after some time of continuous completing daily Duke missions - you will hit a road block of a target.
These targets, have way more battle stats and most times you need to catch them right after they come out of hospital from previous attacks. Not only that, if you are under Xanax influence - it gets even tougher.
Most of these targets arm themselves with the best melees in the game, Diamond bladed knife, macana or dual samurai or dual Scimitars. These weapons not only hit hard but bloody accurate. Two critical hits on your head and throat - and you can kiss your 25E good bye.
Fear not, instead of having to adjust your loadout to counter different types of battle stats - just get yourself a hard hitting Parry Melee and Riot Helmets with Riot Body. Safe your Duke targets as enemy and label them Melee only. See them again, put on your Parry loadout.
Get a sure fire Eviscerate Primary and add extra 17%damage to every other hit there after. And you can be confident of taking them down even from full life.
Parry bonus are synonymous with Japanese Blades, and you can find out more information on how the above setup help me to safe millions on Energy costs. If Revitalize weapons are worth billions, A parry setup for Duke missions will have comparable value. Check out more information in proceeding posts about Parry Action, Parry Rarity, Best Parry, Parry Interaction against other melee bonus.
The Parry Description is not accurate after the patches. It maybe could be written as "56% chance of blocking incoming melee attack". (As it is 56% chance of proc when Enemy uses a melee in the same turn regardless of what composition of Battle Stat and Melee Weapon Stat employed by enemy.)Parry - King of all Melee Bonus - New Update Apr '26

See here an example of how Parry bonus works.
It procs(50%-92%) when the enemy Attacks you with their own melee in the same turn as you use the Parry melee.
When it procs, their hit is assumed as a miss for tht turn.
This works in offence and also in defence
https://www.torn.com/loader.php?sid=attackLog&ID=49d896857eb2bbbd8fa5dcfd3aca40f4
See the continuous parry being proc ... You will probably think I am using a red 70-80% Parry bonus. Parry procs before even the enemy hit or miss, and would proc before a lot of other bonus that requires a mandatory hit.
Had I not use a Parry melee, in this fight, I am sure there is a critical hit or two in them from the Duke target in the final 7 turns of attack. Check out how much the target can damage with it's melee in the first turn, and you tell me if the Parry saved my ass or not.
It is only a 56% Yellow Parry on a Katana.
Update : 4 Months later went up against the same target, trying out a different setup...lo and behold... Attack Log.Last edited by HarryWho on 16:08:15 - 12/11/24 (1 year ago) -

A player commented in a Parry duscussion thread...
I use parry for missions not because I 100% need it, but just to ensure I dont waste E on them."
Parry basically means you have double the HP during mission fights against melee player.
Personally I have forced a stalemate out of 9b total bs player against my 1.3b at the time. That is exactly what I mention, it is worth is on par as a Revitalize weapons who saves you that 25e after 9-10 attempts.
With a Parry, it could even save you more Energy than a Revit can give you.
There are factions who advises young players who can afford a Parry to get one instead of a Revit. The returns are much better.
Couple with the fact that Parry bonus is not as common as some of the other Melee or Primary bonus. Players think Plunder Melee is like the one of the best melee to get. There are probably 5-10 times more plunder melee in the market compared to Parry melee.
The same concept, plunders are great only at the high end stuff, those with high accuracy and High damage (dbk, macana.etc). Those at the lower ends are practically garbage.
Below a experimental study with cache opening, the amount of Parry that one can get out of melee cache opening. These things are rare and even rare on a Japanese blade.Last edited by HarryWho on 23:03:49 - 17/06/24 (2 years ago) -

To complement the Parry, if the users require it in Duke missions are 4 things ....
1. Riot body to protect throat and heart during critical hit.
2. Riot Helmets to protect head during critical hit.
3. A Eviscerate Shotgun with high accuracy to add to Parry damage.
(Benelli M1 or Saw off shotgun recommended)
4. Teargas or Pepper Spray to increase the hit chance of your Melee attacks. Not ideal to use Flash or Smoke with Parry proccing at least 50% of the time.
More players value the Parry for Duke missions nowadays compared to 5 months ago . There are those who still don't, but their numbers are dwindling as some has also found use for it during RW against some nasty/lazy defenders.
Nasty defenders.... Cattle prod users.
Lazy defenders.... Use melee 100% setting.(As they are using Frenzy Melee and a lot don't know how Frenzy looks like in attack log. Check it out here.)Last edited by HarryWho on 10:55:04 - 20/05/24 (2 years ago) -

Posted on 14:27:27 - 15/04/24 (2 years ago)Post link copied to clipboard Copy post linkIn Rank Wars, lots of players don't read attack logs playing on mobile, and almost all wants to finish the attack fast. They would just spam attack with their melee once they see your battle stat is lower than theirs.
Low be behold... Will they be surprise after a few losses.
In the case of Rank Wars, if you deem that the opposition is too tough for you to contribute RW hits, then you are limited to just contributing outside hits to maintain the chain.
However most times, you would also like to hit players with battle stat within your range to have a Fair Fight Number of 3.0 to get the best possible respect gain.
In the current meta, it is not about making hits of 2-5 respect. But hits tht could gain the RW respect in the 8-12 points range.
Finding these FF 3.0 players from your Duke missions that you can comfortably win is easy with a Parry and end it with a Warlord to gain extra respect. Try it .
Another way of getting high FF rating is to arm with a HEG, and attack Higher Level Accounts who are coming out of Hospital with 20% or less of their max health.Last edited by HarryWho on 16:01:20 - 16/05/24 (2 years ago) -

So what is the Best Parry?
Since Parry only rolls out in Slashing Weapons.
It is safe to assume the Kodachi is the best Slashing melee. But for Duke missions, I have players feedback... Almost any weapon is good as long as you can hit the Duke target with your speed.
That includes the likes of GuangDao which is notorious for always missing a lot but hits like a truck.
Try it out, the Parry bonus doesn't care what your Battle Stats Speed is or what your Dexterity is. The Parry will have a chance to block the hit for you if enemy uses a melee, whether you can return hit the enemy is up to your speed and the weapon accuracy.Last edited by HarryWho on 08:36:15 - 30/06/24 (2 years ago) -

About the Duke Mission's Target I got.
There is only on instance when I got a Target with Double my battle stat. One of the strongest old timer of days gone by, Leukybear.
But in that mission, I was not task to defeat him.. couldn't remember what I had to do
But generally the mission targets I got were about 50% more stat than I have. A yellow Parry will comfortably do the job if the target uses just Melee as defence l and not just that a Yellow Parry is all you will ever need until the next Mission Update after Duke.Last edited by HarryWho on 16:01:58 - 22/05/24 (2 years ago) -

The Parry Description is not accurate after the patches. It maybe could be written as "56% chance of blocking the incoming melee attack". (As it is 56% chance of proc when Enemy uses a melee in the same turn regardless what composition of Battle Stat and Melee Weapon Stat employed.... exceptions applicable)
The word Next Melee Attack could be mistakenly decipher as Next turn attack, but in actual fact it parries the current turn melee attack. As this description is likely used during the time the Parry still have the Smart Use Automatic system.
See TODAY'S Duke Mission's, both with 45-50% more battle stat than I have, and they are certainly new targets I have never encountered before from Duke. Loxley has More Defence, Stockier has more Dex - and Parry/Evis combo does the job just fine regardless of stat buildup. How many times have we gone through a fight blow for blow, hoping a crit will come soon as our health are dwindling and 25th turn is coming soon!

Check here for Parry & Shock (Cattle Prod) Interaction.
Here for Parry versus Parry Interaction.
A player came up to ask what happens if Parry goes up against another Melee "Fury or Rage" for example.
Fury - a percentage chance to attack twice in a turn (10%-15%, yellow)
Rage - a percentage chance to attack 2-8 times in a turn (4-6%, yellow)
A senior before me , did some tests before the changes to Parry and concluded the Rage and Fury will proc and cannot be blocked by Parry.
When I read that, I was a bit sceptical........ I will explain in another post. Cuz evidence today, doesn't seem to match that explanation.
We know some bonus have different proc mechanism and is different to the norms. Parry being one of them. Parry has a chance to proc when opponents hits with a melee. Does Fury/Rage have different proc mechanism????
Normal proc process involves :-
1. Successful Hit
2. Damage more than Zero.
I remember reading if Damaged is Zero, the bonus doesn't proc.
Example ... The weaken bonus to reduce Defence. The weaken bonus is a waste on a weapon with low Damage stat even though it's Accuracy is high. Even though you hit every time but due to it's low damage, resulting in Zero Damage on Defences whore - the Weaken bonus won't proc.
So with all that, including Percentage chance... It is quite difficult to get parry to proc at the same turn as Fury/Rage, and then we see the outcome.. but the question remains - does the fight log tells if a bonus is negated by another??? It doesn't, we won't know or can't tell if a bonus negated the other bonus.... All we can do is to run hundreds of fights and give a statistical model to what could have happened.
The senior mentioned that Fury/Rage will proc regardless of Parry. I have a different understanding....
" Whoever is the attacker, that bonus will proc first in that turn, if so happens both were to proc. But in the fight logs, it will only show the attacker bonus proc and not the defender bonus proc!"
Makes sense.. right... In the last turn.. if a hit is a kill hit.. you don't see the defender able to hit back and cause a stalemate draw whereby both sides lost.
However...... however........tbcLast edited by HarryWho on 04:44:21 - 24/04/24 (2 years ago) -

Posted on 14:38:31 - 15/04/24 (2 years ago)Post link copied to clipboard Copy post linkParry - Rage Part 2/4
HOWEVER...... HOWEVER........continue.....
Say we assume Fury and Rage falls into the same normal proc mechanism. We can also assume Eviscerate also falls into the same proc mechanism
Normal proc process involves :-
1. Successful Hit
2. Damage more than Zero.
An example of Eviscerate hitting for Zero Damaged and didn't proc.
....why Eviscerate ?????
Because it is too difficult to run fights to match Fury/Rage and Parry Procs in the same turn. Further more , the fight logs won't show if either one did proc and getting negated. Fight logs will just show one bonus proc.
Eviscerate, we know will proc 100%, as long as it is a hit.
Now unless Fury and Rage has different proc mechanism or Procs without needing to hit first or hit with damage..... Then likely they will also experience what the Eviscerate Bonus in this fight log.
Kodachi Parry in Defence against Attacker's Katana Eviscerate.

Parry - Rage Part 3/4
Say it is true....the Fury /Rage Procs differently to normal. It doesn't depend on a hit or hit with damage.
Every turn, the Fury/rage has a percentage chance of going off.
Then what the senior is true. It goes off regardless of Parry.
But I would like to add to that, that the Attacker Bonus holds the advantage to proc first . So if the Attacker is using Parry and if it Procs (procs on defender hitting successfully).......hmmmmmm..... Seems to be a problem with that statement.
Because we know.. the First Rage/Fury attack could also miss. So how would Parry Procs.?
Hmmmmmm....
For now I will assume the senior say is true. Fury/rage Bonus takes precedence in every turn. When they don't proc, then Parry will have a chance to proc, whether in defence or offence.
A fight whereby the Rage procs but first attack is a miss in both turns.

Parry - Rage Part 4/4
This will be my final assessment of Fury/Rage proc process as I understand it and matches with previous study and present day attack logs.
The first Rage Attack out of the 8 is not an actual normal attack in a rage bonus proc. sequence.
The first attack is part of the Rage Bonus process itself ( which can also be a Miss Attack). The Rage Procs not on a successful hit but by RNG @5% success.
Either a Rage melee has a normal hit/miss attack, or it has a sequence of Rage continuous hits.
The Rage Melee doesn't proc like the normal way we understand it, as shown below :-
1st Attack - hit .. thus Rage procs, then
2nd to 8th attack.
(This is wrong)
This is how I envisioned it and it matches with most of the circumstances I notice in the buildup of the discussion.
5% Rage Melee EITHER
1) Hit or Miss ( 95 turns out of 100 turns ) - These are Normal Attack
OR
2) Rage Procs (5 turns out of 100 turns, resulting in a sequence of attacks, minimum 2 attacks to a maximum of 8 continuous attacks. Each attack can be Hit or Miss)
How does the Rage/Fury Interacts with Parry in the same turn?
If Normal Attack hits, then Parry can proc.
If Normal Attack Miss, then Parry can proc.
If the Rage bonus started, then Parry cannot stop it.
Tht is what I think the seniors before me tested and found out. Doesn't matter if the Rage user is attacker or defender. A user confirms this with his Rage and Fury Double Orange Melee.Last edited by HarryWho on 09:00:33 - 06/08/24 (2 years ago) -
