Getting a Basket:
You must first buy a basket from Sally's Sweet Shop, found in the city, for $35. These restock 1,000 baskets every 15 minutes, so if you didn't get one yet, and it's sold out, just keep waiting and refreshing. If you've already purchased your 100 item city limit for the day, you'll still be able to purchase the basket. HOWEVER, if you buy the basket first, it will count toward your daily limit. Because of this, I recommend hitting your daily city purchase limit and then acquiring a basket.
Note: You must be level 5 to buy the basket.
Earning Treats:
Any attack on any player can reward a treat. The default chance to loot candy from the first basket starts pretty low. This is improved by various basket upgrades as well as wearing "Spooky" clothing and having the finishing hit from a "Spooky" weapon (Assuming you have "I See Dead People" and "Here's Johnny!" unlocked on your basket).
Spooky Clothes:
Kabuki Mask
Medieval Helmet
Witch's Hat
Straitjacket
Marauder Face Mask
Duke's Gimp Mask
Ginger Kid Mask
Scarred Man Mask
Psycho Clown Mask
Nun Mask
Donald Trump Mask '16
Michael Myers Mask '18

Krampus Mask '21
Hell Priest Mask '22Queen Elizabeth II Mask '22
Evil Winnie Mask '23
Hannibal Mask '24
Kevin McCallister Mask '24
Scream Mask '25
Hook Hand
Torso Bandage
Head Bandage
Bloody ApronDevil Horns
Spooky Weapons:
Axe
Blood Spattered Sickle
Chainsaw
Devil's Pitchfork
Golden Broomstick
Petrified Humerus
Wand of Destruction
Meat Hook
Cleaver
Bone Saw
(The links above will lead to the item market for said item)The full list can be found on the wiki here.
Leveling up your Basket:
Your basket will "level up" to the next basket level automatically the next time you collect a treat from an attack after you've collected the required amount of treats. It doesn't consume your treats to level up your basket. Each basket level improves the chance of looting candy by 5% per level (Up to +45% at Nightmarish).
Basket Levels:
Upgrading your basket:
You can upgrade your basket to provide additional perks like higher drop chances, improved candy rewards, etc. It does consume your treats to unlock additional basket perks. You can do this by finding your basket under "Special Items", and clicking the "Use Item" next to your basket.
Basket Upgrades:
Exchange All Treats:
Immediately exchange all available treats for Candy and Drinks (Alcohol and Energy). This WILL consume any and all available treats you have at the time. This can be upgraded to get the higher tier consumables through basket upgrades.
Honors:
Phantastic - Upgrade your Halloween Basket to Frightful

Something Humerus - Upgrade your Halloween Basket to Terrifying

Oh My Gourd! - Upgrade your Halloween Basket to Nightmarish
Recommended basket upgrade progress:

Chart courtesy of Proxima.
NOTE: The top two rows (Spooky and Creepy) should be green (Use Revitalize) because you mathematically can't get the spooky weapons and clothes upgrades before unlocking that basket.

Summoning M'aol
So you want to wreak havoc on the city huh? Well first, you'll need to collect 9,999 treats in your basket before you'll be able to click the magical button. The upgrade path is slightly different than for those going the normal route though. I'd recommend the following path:
This isn't for the feint of hearted though. There are no rewards for doing this, other than a shiny basket, a bit of notoriety, and wreaking havoc on the entirety of Torn. It's going to take you many years of hoarding treats to achieve this feat.
However, once you've done that, a whole bunch of things happen at once, including a Torn wide alert that he has been summoned.
For the magical clicker though, you'll be rewarded with this sweet new basket and be immune to all attacks and effects from M'aol and his Praetorians forever:
For everyone else though, your basket will get a couple new optional "upgrades" once M'aol has been summoned.
WARNING: The Stygian Darkness can be used by accident in normal attacks and will not be refunded. You can only ever get 5, so make the best of them and be careful! (Turn off temporary items in your attack settings to prevent using them on defense).
These items are untradeable and can only be obtained by exchanging the treats for them. As far as we know, you can only ever unlock these once, so don't lose them.
M'aol's Praetorians
You may have noticed that I've mentioned M'aol's praetorians (minions) a few times by now. Once M'aol has been summoned, he's unable to be attacked until his "Paretorian Bond" has been deactivated. This happens only after all five of his praetorians have been defeated. These minions will awaken in random countries. The community must work together to defeat these monsters as they have an insane amount of health and stats.
Each Praetorian can gain one of the following random abilities:
* Void Shroud - 90% chance to deflect temporary weapons.
* Aegis Shield - Blocks 90% of incoming attacks.
* Melee: Disarm - Disables an opponent's weapon upon hand or arm hit for 16 turns.
* Melee: Poison - 100% chance to Poison causing 950% damage over 19 turns.
* Melee: Crusher - 1000% increased Head damageAll minions will have the following abilities:
* Ephemeral - Becomes dormant if not defeated within one week of the summoning.
* Mortalitas - Can not regenerate life.
* Astral Guard - Invulnerable to attacks from the physical realmUpon each minion being defeated, they will drop a unique relic item as well as 100 Greater Acra Fortunae, an item that gives the player 200 to 300 treats once they open it and 1,000 Lesser Arca Fortunae that gives the player 50 to 75 treats once they open it.
Relic: Dyno Sac - Once activated, removes all negative effects from taking drugs, including addiction.
Relic: Nol Cloachra - Once activated, allows the user to use consumable items without them being consumed.
Asmol'yand [102]
Relic: Asmol Knuckle - Once activated, provides the user with a passive damage bonus of +100%.Relic: Sylo Tooth - Once activated, grants the user +25% (additive) crit chance.
Relic: Ladso Eye - Once activated, allows the user to read books repeatedly.
After all five have been defeated, the real fun begins and M'aol becomes vulnerable. Like his praetorians, you can only damage him with a Crystalline Falcata or if he's under the effect of a Stygian Darkness. M'aol will travel between the locations that his Praetorians were defeated in every 15 minutes in the order that they were defeated.
Upon defeat, M'aol will also drop a relic, M'aol Tentacle, as well as one of each piece of his armor, and 100 Greater Arca Fortunae and 1,000 Lesser Arca Fortunae. The relic, M'aol Tentacle, once activated will double the nerve and energy capacity and regeneration rate for the user.

Image Name Armor Slot Armor Coverage
M'aol Visage Head 37.76%
M'aol Spathe Chest 46.94%
M'aol Clawshields Hands 10.18%
M'aol Britches Legs 19.47%
M'aol Hooves Feet 10.99%
Each item has bonus called Kinetokinesis, where each item provides 75% of damage reduction on subsequent hits within 10 seconds. The full armor set bonus increases this duration to 15 seconds.

Final Notes:
Relics only work for one year and will convert to a "Withered" state. They will deactivate the following year at the same time you were awarded the relic.
The first time M'aol can be awoken each year is at 10:00 TCT on the 26th of October, and must be awoken no later than 23:59:59 on the 31st of October. Once M'aol has been defeated, we must wait two solar cycles before he can be summoned once again. This means we can only summon him three times per year.To follow along with the chaos that happens with M'aol and keep up with the state of his minions and his path, check out Torn Stats' M'aol Tracker.

Good luck and happy hunting!
Fun side note: All of the Praetorians are anagrams of S**** L***. Make of that what you will about who is really behind everything.Last edited by IceBlueFire on 21:33:51 - 30/10/26 (5 days ago) -

FAQ
1) When does the Halloween Trick or Treat event start?
The event starts on October 25th, at the time you selected for your personal events to start. Once you have a basket, or if you already have a basket from last year, you’ll start to earn treats from attacks immediately. The event ends on November 1st, at the time you selected.
2) When do the baskets restock?
Baskets stock in Sally’s Sweet Shop before the event starts, on October 24th at noon TCT. If they sell out, the restock will happen on the next 15 minute mark of the clock, and they continue to restock every 15 minutes throughout the event.
3) Why can’t I purchase the basket?
You already own a basket. Try searching for it in your inventory. If it is not in the inventory, it will be in your Display Cabinet.
4) I have already purchased 100 items from the city today. What happens to my basket purchase?
If you have already purchased 100 items, the system will still let you purchase the basket. But if you purchase the basket first, the city shop will only permit you to buy 99 other items (Beer, Brick, etc.) that day.
5) Why can’t I carry the basket abroad?
The system doesn’t allow it, and you don’t need to. You will still collect treats for attacks made abroad even if your basket is in Torn.
6) Can you earn treats from defends?
No. You only earn treats from attacks you initiate.
7) Do your treats carry over from last year/into next year?
Yes! So if you want to keep upgrading your basket, don’t “Exchange All Treats” at the end of the year and save them for next year!
8) Does it cost treats to level up your basket?
No. Think of it like a progress bar. Once you’ve earned the required amount of treats (spent or unspent), the basket will “level up” automatically to the next level.
9) My basket says ready for evolution. How do I trigger it?
A basket can only evolve if you get a treat through an attack. Upgrades or using Arca Fortunae cannot evolve your basket. If your basket says it is ready for evolution, just make an attack and earn a treat.
10) Do upgrades carry over between baskets?
Yes. If you have one basket and unlock a bunch of upgrades, and your basket “levels up”, your upgrades will persist onto your new basket.
11) When will M’aol be summoned?
M’aol summoning is blocked for the first 24 hours of the event. After that, it is up to the players to summon him. Once M’aol has been defeated, he cannot be re-summoned within 48 hours of his defeat.
12) How do we do damage to M'aol or his Praetorians?
All of the NPCs have an ability called "Astral Guard". This means they can only be damaged either by the Crystalline Falcata, or after someone has thrown a Stygian Darkness, enabling all attacks "from the physical realm" for 20 seconds, or until another temp has been used. The to be on the watch for, looks like this:
13) How do I know if an item is a spooky weapon or piece of clothing?
Once the event has started for you, the item description will update to display a field, “Spooky”: Yes or No. This will be your answer. You can also refer to the wiki for the latest lists found here:
https://wiki.torn.com/wiki/Scary_Clothing
https://wiki.torn.com/wiki/Scary_Weapon14) What does “Exchange All Treats” do?
This will consume all of your available treats (seen in the top left corner of the basket interface) for various items like candy, energy drinks, and alcohol items. You can upgrade these rewards in the Tier 2 section of the basket, and again in the Tier 4 section of the basket to even get things like Feathery Hotel Coupons, Erotic DVDs, and Lottery Vouchers.
Note: THIS WILL CONSUME YOUR TREATS. This will use all the treats you have saved up for upgrading your basket. I suggest doing this AFTER you’ve finished upgrading your basket entirely.
15) When should I exchange treats after I’ve completed the Upgrade Guide?
You should exchange your treats on any multiple of 10, however, the ideal time to exchange is at 100 treats to maximize your freebie treats and not risk losing energy. You don't get any bonus treats for 100+, it is just the safest time to do so (with not capping energy the main thing to keep in mind).
16) Should I get Mortal Coil?
It’s up to you. It’s a guaranteed 168 treats per year, which means this will break even sometime in the third year of having it.

-> mine are not unlocked. I have the basket from last year and did maybe something like 5 attacks, those are not available :-(
Now the question is, clothing and weapon doesn't make a difference for me then?

> Furthermore, the nature of some upgrades means that some known Trick or Treat strategies from previous years will no longer work unless you have the right upgrades.
From the newspaper ^ You have to unlock the upgrades before the clothing and final hits apply the extra bonusLast edited by IceBlueFire on 17:05:58 - 27/10/20 (6 years ago) -
