Alright f**kos, Every 1st of the month atleast someone asks this question

"I got "Book: BOOKTITLE" When should I use it?"

Definitely checkout Andyman's "Knowledge is Power - Andyman's Torn Books Guide" for a huge amount of information regarding ALL Books however this guide will focus on books relating to Gym gains and elaborating further to ensure you are getting the most bang for your book.

*This guide does assume you are following a healthy gym routine in the first place, 3 xanax and refill daily. Stock block MSC is also highly recommended to take advantage of any extra energy you might be given during the 31 days you are training.*

Gym books can be broken into 2 catagories, Flat Gains and %Boosts.

    %Boosts - Increases STAT/ALL gym gains by 30/20% for 31 days.

For these books it is all about planning, to make sure you are getting the MAXIMUM gains you possibly can during that 31 day period and there are a few things to consider..

    • MAKE SURE YOUR STAT YOU ARE TRAINING IS ALREADY ABOVE 50,000,000 Stat gains in the gym are no longer exponential past this point , This is called the STAT CAP its the point where you are now gaining the absolute maximum potential natural gains in the gym, Training a stat that ISN'T at the 50,000,000 cap will yield LESS stats than if you were to wait and use that book when it is above 50m. No sense expending all these resources and time when you couldv got more gains for the exact same amount spent.
    • Steadfast - Make sure the faction steadfast will be set for the specific stat you are training and you can take advantage of the % boost from Steadfast for the entire time. This is incredibly important, If the steadfast doesnt line up... Wait. (+15% of 10m gains is 1.5m stats FREEE)
    • Company - Some company positions will boost your gains specifically Ladies Strip Club (10% Bonus Defence gains 10* Perk) and Fitness Centre (3% bonus to ALL gym gains 10* Perk)
    • Energy Boosters - in 31 days you can smash through ~124 FHCs providing you with an extra 18,600 energy during that 31 day period and it highly recommended you stockpile this amount before you start your book.

Flat Gains - Increases STAT by 5% up to 10,000,000 upon completion.

These books are alot easier but youll want to ensure the stat that the book will be boosting is above 200,000,000 to make the most of the maximum 10,000,000 gains you can receive from the book. Since this book doesnt have any effect on the physical gains in the gym you can ignore Steadfast and any other passive gym gains as these will have no effect on your gains from the book.

I may have Definitely missed something, Please let me know :)

Looks good overall, few things to add:

    - When training speed, try to do so with Sports Sneakers in your inventory.

    - Keep an eye on your happy amount when training any stat, it's not a huge gain for a capped stat training with less happy, but does add up over several hundred trains. (Fitness Center helps with less happy lost per train, and FHC obviously replaces a nice chunk of happy per use... and keep in mind rehabbing auto replenishes happy bar!)

    - It rarely makes sense to train a particular stat over about 2.8b with boosters due to the huge opportunity cost of the boosters. Especially if you don't have all the high-yielding passive income sources to replace that cash or have a proper legendary weapon. That cash would typically be better utilized via 3 stat enhancers or toward gaining more money with the booster-money longterm.

    - It can be worth it to rent/borrow a hazmat suit while training on a book. Spending ~48hrs in the hospital while on a book is not ideal. (The risk is low given the current relatively non-competitve state of the game)

    Good luck!

are you sure about the advantage of training with the % book only after cap? I can see that in absolute numbers you will get more out of the book, but using the book sooner will also speed your progress of gyms and stats so as long as you have the possibility to spend the same amount of energy during the book it shouldnt really matter? End result should be exactly the same? I havent really done the math on this yet but should probably do that eventually.

I did some napkin math using Vladar's sheet now.
Comparing using the book at 10m stats and waiting for 200m stats, you will end up with about 7.5m more stats when both scenarios have spent about 92500 energy to reach 200m later on.
7.5m stats at 200m is about 2800 energy.
    2800/92500 = 0.03.
So it's 3% better to use the book at 200m than it is to use it at way lower stats.

This is waaaaaaay less than I expected so if someone wants to school me I'm open to it.
My method was training 2500e at a time from 10m until reaching 200m, then adding 10m for the book, and then training 2500e at a time from 10.5m until reaching 200m.

    Just a few things..

    • "using the book sooner will also speed your progress of gyms" Unlocking gyms is based on energy spent. Books will not speed up your progression to the next gym (Unless that book provides energy.)
    • "using the book sooner will also speed your progress of gyms and stats" I see the point you are making as technically youll be getting to that stat cap 20% faster than you would if you werent using the book however this is all about energy (Or resources) spent in both scenarios youll be expending the same amount of energy and how the exponential nature of stat gains effect your overall outcome.
in a 31 day period you generate 22,320 energy.

Using 22,320 energy on a stat that is at 50,000,000 = 5,469,496 stat gains.
    Calculations.
Using 22.320 energy on a stat that is at 20,000,000 = 2,314,495 stat gains.
    Calculations.

Same amount of energy spent yet you yield an extra 3,155,001 stats by waiting until you have capped the stat and this is just the nature of the exponential stat gains in general, so its more of a question do i want 20% bonus gains when my gains arent at their max potential , or do i want to wait until i get the maximum amount of gains for the same amount of energy i am using AND get a 20% bonus ontop of that.

I was more after what Adobi is counting above. What you are counting are absolute numbers again and that means you are counting the "exponential stat gain" as an advantage of the book when it really is just something to factor in regardless of book use.

It will speed your gym progression in that sense that while using the book you will (or should) spend a lot more energy during those 31 days (probably 18,6k more than normal). Doing so after cap wont effect any gym progression since I assume by then one has already unlocked Georges. Like I would not do pure FHC training at say 4m each stat unless Im using a book, simply because I wouldnt be able to afford it, and think that would go for most players.

Given Adobis calculation in the end, waiting years to use the book in order to save a little less than the equivalent of 2 days training at cap with only natural e, PR and xans seems a bit out of proportion to me.

I dont mean to critise, think you did a great guide, this is just something I have been thinking of when I hear those recommendations but been too lazy to get into myself yet since Im such a newbie :)

Fact is though whether you use the book before or after stat cap youll be expending the same amount of resources but yield more physical stat gains if you waited until after stat cap.

Ill be past stat cap before my first year of play so saying it takes "years" is abit far fetched.

Point is you get 1 opportunity to use the book and you are better off waiting to use it when you are going to get the most benefit from it for the same amount of resources spent.

    I agree with HTEVE_SOLT here.

I've been above caps for gains for years and only recently have I actually considered to use the energy can book.
You are currently reading Fuelling Your Way to Failure
Doubles energy drink effects for 31 days and then will use the duplicate on this same book, and then also have the Ugly Energy book to use once these two are done.

Due to the amount of money to be able to best utilise these 3 books and the proportional gains that I'd get from them. Than using them before I had all the gyms unlocked. Just my own 2 cents from someone that is currently looking to read all 3 of them at the moment.

    Hope this helps.
