I've already gotten questions about obtaining the new Dragon's Breath merit, making this guide as a reference.

    A 12-gauge round is a shotgun cartridge.

First off, equip one of the following shotguns and unequip your other primary/secondary.

    The Sawed-Off Shotgun
    Benelli M1 Tactical
    Ithaca 37
    Benelli M4 Super
    Mag 7
    Jackhammer
    Blunderbuss
    Nock Gun
    Homemade Pocket Shotgun

There are 4 different ways to obtain incendiary 12 gauge ammunition:

1.) By using 25 points via the 10-star Fireworks Stand "Inferno" job special (100% chance of getting incendiary ammo if you have a shotgun and only a shotgun equipped in your primary/secondary slots while using the job special)

2.) By using 15 points via the 3-star Gun Shop "Surplus" job special (Approximately a 25% chance of getting incendiary ammo if you have a shotgun and only a shotgun equipped in your primary/secondary slots while using the job special)

3.) Through a random BAG dividend (Approximately a .008% chance of getting incendiary ammo on the :48 minute mark of every hour while holding the BAG dividend stock block if you have a shotgun and only a shotgun equipped in your primary/secondary slots while receiving the dividend)

4.) Through mission rewards. I don't think anyone has done an in-depth study on the probability of getting special ammo, let alone incendiary ammo from mission rewards; however, you can increase your chances of having the opportunity to buy 12 gauge incendiary ammo with mission credits by having a shotgun and only a shotgun equipped in your primary/secondary slots while new mission rewards generate and by cycling the low-cost-mission-credit rewards to generate new rewards. (ie. purchase the 5 mission credit construction helmet, and 11 mission credit handguns when they pop up)

Here's an example of an incredibly unlucky line-up. I'll be falling asleep with my shotgun equipped in 5 days and then again in 7 days to ensure I have a chance at incendiary ammo popping up!

After you obtain the 12 gauge special ammo, click it to turn it green and fire away!

    Good luck!

'I don't think anyone has done an in-depth study on the probability of getting special ammo'

Wouldn't have mattered. I believe there's been several adjustments to the frequency of each type of bonus including recently. With the new honor bars coming to a close and some of the recent specials we've seen, I believe:

    1. Special ammo will continue to be a relatively high chance of drop rate.
    2. Mods are now more frequent.
    3. Books and low tier items are less frequent.

I can't prove this of course but now would be a good time to do a study because tweaks to this system seem to have come to an end for now.

It's tricky to study, because you have brand new players getting rewards offered, and then you have players like me who own all of the weapon mods and have for the past 10 months. The rewards offered will obviously differ.

Torn RNG didn't love me today on mission credits. Spent about 2k and got lots of shotgun ammo, but none of it was incendiary.

All 400+ credit items now so I'll have to wait a week for them to rotate.... Come on BAG, do me a solid =)

Haha I got my 250 shotgun incendiary ammo on my first mission reward to reset. Only had a Mag 7 equipped, no secondary. Maybe add Mag 7 to the weapon list? It's actually a pretty good weapon.

Edit: Mag 7 on the list and merit done :)

Talk about a resounding RNG success, equipped with an Ithaca 37 and a Blunderbuss:

Wait, can't you use a flame thrower while waiting for the ammo? Or are there special liters of fuel.

This is mostly for people who are still working on weapon merits, such as myself.

Flamethrower is OK for a secondary as it has no special ammo. I have shotgun/flamer equipped and the only ammo in the mission store is for the shotgun.
Will admit that it's funny having a flamethrower with a laser pointer... Only in torn

R+ because I've only just started seeking 12 gauge incendiary shells recently, and I've been working under the assumption the RNG mission shop drop was based on the type of weapon last used, rather than that equipped at drop time.

R+. Thanks to this guide, I got it with Benelli M4 Super equipped at primary, used it a few times in attacks and no secondary. Definitely took a while for the RNG to happen as many shotgun special ammo appeared before the 12 gauge incendiary finally pops up in mission rewards.

5 ways, and possibly one of the easiest - you can get Incendiary 12 guage rounds from random crime drops, such as via burglary and (I assume) shoplifting from Big Al's Gun Shop. Example below.

23:13:29 - 29/09/25 You used 6 nerve successfully burgling a postal office gaining 150x 12 Gauge Cartridge Incendiary ammunition

I didn't have a shotgun equipped for that drop.
