You may have heard about The Bookie, but it was not always around when you need it. And a vault is way too expensive for you.
You can't have that cash in your pocket or, risk being mugged anytime.
To keep your money safe, you can use your own trade screen.
1. Initiate a trade with your friend (or anyone)Perhaps the first dummy or any NPC you have encountered is the best choice.
(update see Baldr [1847600] response).
You need to do it with a friend. You can't do it with an inactive player, because you can't start a trade with someone who hasn't been active in the last 6 hours. You don't want to do it with a random player you don't know, because they could cancel the trade. (And if they want, they could mug you right after they do.)
2. Then put all your money in there.
3. There you go, all pocket money is now safe. you can cancel at anytime to get your money back. DONT click accept or your money will be sent to the other end.
4. A trade will keep your cash for 6 hours before being automatically canceled and the cash is returned to you. so you may need to check in every 6 hours. and transfer the cash to another trade.
5. The fact that you can do it from the hospital can be very useful. The six hour time limit is a big limitation tho. The bookie works better for most things, but can't be used while in the hospital.

Maybe add that you can buy points and resell them to also keep your money safe? Usually the point value floats between 52k and 53k. But usually if all you want is to keep a couple hundred thousand safe so you don't lose a small bit just in case, just use the trade feature. You could add the points though to make the guide more advanced.

This is also helpful if you want to be able to trade from the hospital, but that's one of a number of things I discuss in my New Player Tips and Answers Guide, which I've kept relatively up to date. -
