New players would normally question whether it is worth it to invest in the Bank Interest rates merit.

Here is a formula on how to calculate the bank interest rates to help you decide.

    Duration
    %
    %
    1 Week
    Base rate
    +
    0.1*Number of bank interest merit
    2 Weeks
    Base rate*2.3
    +
    0.23*Number of bank interest merit
    1 Month
    Base rate*5
    +
    0.5*Number of bank interest merit
    2 Months
    Base rate*11
    +
    1.1*Number of bank interest merit
    3 Months
    Base rate*16
    +
    1.6*Number of bank interest merit

Base rate = 1 week rate at 0 bank interest merit

This means that regardless of what is the base rate is, investing in 10 bank interest merit will net you an additional 11% (for 2 months period) or 16% (for 3 months period) extra interest over those without bank interest merit.

    Additional Info

If you have already invested in some (or full) bank interest merits, you can find out what is the current base rate by minusing your current 1 week rate with (0.1*number of bank interest merits).

For example your current 1 week rate is showing as 0.99%, simply minus 0.99% - 0.1*6 (I have 6 bank interest merit) = 0.39% (This is the current Base rate)

I'm questioning if it's worth it to invest in the bank all together, but it's the simplest way to reach 2B...

It is worth it if you have nothing else to invest the money into for that period of time.

My 2B investment more than pays for my donator packs and property upkeep for doing nothing.

EDIT: I guess at some point, the profits don't seem so impressive.

if I can get +20% in a week with 10B on the stock market, or +300M in 2 months with 2B in the bank, what do you think is the best?

I personally get quite a bit more than 300m in 2 months with stocks (with 2b), so I opted not to use the bank anymore. Although I think the bank is amazing once you have like 20b liquid, as it's practically zero effort extra money at that point.

But I tend to think backwards sometimes, maybe I'm being backwards now too, who knows!

There is the risk of Ched thinking you had insider information but with no evidence, he will just wipe your profits to be fair.

if you can max banking, always use 2 months, unless you have a good reason not to use it - 2 months yield the highest interest per day:
    • 1 week = 0.9311224 * base APR (per annum)
    • 2 weeks= 1.0658902 * base APR (per annum)
    • 1 month= 1.0512673 * base APR (per annum)
    • 2 month= 1.1563940 * base APR (per annum)
    • 3 month= 1.1213518 * base APR (per annum)
    as for 10/10 merits + bb (2 months) 1.1563940 * 2.1 / 6 = 0.4047379 base APR (every 2 months)

    for 3b x 2 months @ 22.96% APR: 3,000,000,000 * 0.4047379 * 0.2296 = 278,783,466 (for 2 months)

The increase is the same for every upgrade you do, but each upgrade costs progressively more, so the price increase per merit actually decreases the more upgrades you do.

This is per merit though, not per point upgrade.

I'd say it's worth it I get just under 500m for 2 months of investing 3bn with full merits and obviously 10* oil rig to bank the extra 1bn

Its a reliable income with pretty much no effort involved, if your busy and not on much it doesn't make any difference to that income, more than enough to live off while you use the rest of your cash elsewhere

There is no general consensus on this. It depends on how you play the game.

It's actually not that great really. That's about 1.25% a week so it's respectable and costs no merits to get but costs you time.
