The buymuggers guide to Torn City

Due to the latest article i want to state the fact that mugging people is a profession in Torn, whatever people like it or not. And the most common way this is performed is by the noble art of buying someones stuff from their bazaar and then mug them right afterwards. There is actually a "mugging guide" laying around in this forum section. However the creator of that is in fed and had -500m networth. And his guide was kinda shitty aswell.

You won't make 100b buymugging people, but you can make some really easy cash for sure. My personal goal was to do an average of 12 mugs a day using cans to still keep up with my daily training. If you do 12 successful buymugs in a day this will yield about 50-150m profit depending on how much you cash you invest to it.

When i started with this i was doing logs to keep track of how much i actually mugged, i will add some logs below.

If you look at the logs you will see that i sometimes dosent even have to buy anything, you could just stalk the market and mug them when someone else buy their stuff and you skip the trouble of reselling the stuff. You will probally start to notice patters in the market and make a few legit deals aswell unless you are all out degenerated.

It is also crucient to know about the rates when mugging someone as it scales down the more money they carry. I had it all written down in a notebook somewhere wich i suppose i have tossed away or forgot somewhere. However the numbers below is pretty accurate and are based on 10/10 mugging merits.

    10m - 1.4m mug
    100m - 10.3m mug
    200m - 17m mug
    1000m - 46m mug

    Edit: correct numbers
    Cash on hand%
    $1020.7
    $10018.39
    $1,00016.09
    $10,00013.79
    $100,00011.49
    $1,000,0009.18
    $10,000,0006.88
    $100,000,0004.58
    $1,000,000,0002.28
    $10,000,000,000
    1

As we can see its not really suitable to buymug above 200m unless you have a large stockpile of cash available. It is also important to buymug frequently traded items such as.

Xanax, E-DVDs, FHC, DPs, Cesium, Meds, Points, Lotto Vouchers, Supply Packs, SEs

Everything else not listed above will take a lot of time to sell and should be avoided unless you actually have time (and money) to wait for it to sell.

    Script
    https://greasyfork.org/sv/scripts/25921-torn-helper
This script makes you see player stats right on their profiles. Im using an older script, but it seems like the creator deleted it. This script is very similar. You dont wanna spend time clicking around to much. Great for warring aswell.

    Vault/Company
You need money to buymug right? You need a place to withdraw and deposit money fast. I would say 200-300m cash is enough to be able to buymug properly if you resell the goods within 1-2 hours. A comfortable wallet would be 600m+ but it should work with as little as 100m even if you might struggle and miss out some mugs while you are reselling items.

    Stats
    More stats = more targets.

    Mugging merits
The differnce between 0 merits and 10 merits is 100%. Reset now.

    Brain Surgeon Perk (bonus)
People forget to change revive settings, a lot.

WLT Benefit Block (bonus) - Or BCT (7m ea)
Someone sold a shitload of stuff but just jumped on a plane to Mexico? Free hugs at the airport.

The differnce between a successful buymugger and a total waste of energy.
Ok, so let's down to buisness. How to be fast enough to mug people beeing ready to hide all their money as soon as possible. Well you gonna work with 3 tabs of Torn open. The first page is where you browse the market for victims and also will execute your purschase. The second tab is the tab wich you will open after you have find a good bazzar to plunder, this is the tab you will have the attackwindow ready to stab your victim to the ground. And the third tab will be used as our bank/vault.

Step 1 - Get your cash ready

Step 2 - Purschase your items, as soon as you do this you wanna switch to your next tab and continue on very fast.

Step 3 - Attack your target as fast as you can, if you are using melee make sure you press the bottom right corner of the meleebutton otherwise you might end up hospitalizing your target by mistake. Without lag you should be able to buy your item and put down your victim in about 6 seconds if you have done everything allright and done a proper setup.

Step 4 - Payday, go back to your bank and store the cash.

Allright, so you mugged someone and now you are a good boy. All you need to do now is to resell the stuff you just bought to someone who actually might use the items, and don't get mugged while you do it. Simple enough? Mugging people isn't just cash and glory so before i wrap this up im gonna take up some other things.

Will people be mad at me? People might and will get angry at you, some will even get sad. Someone gonna put bounties on you, another threaten you with "his friend who is uber and will beat you up". Nothing to do about it really, that's how it is. He gonna spend money to bounty you and lose even more money meanwhile you get free defends?

Wont i end up with a lot of enemies? Sure, but 18,000 players log in everyday to play torn. Most people you mug would be semi-inactive/inactive players anyway that don't even know how blacklist works. Only time i might have problem to buy stuff is when i need cans. The can market are occupied by mediocre small traders who like to sell 3 cans once every day.

Last toughts I don't think this guide will compete with my own muggings. I rather hope that this guide can help people out so bazaars where im not allowed to shop will get mugged by someone else. I also believe that mugging is a good way to activate things around torn. I don't wanna play in a lame crimecity where it's safe to be. More mugs will contribute to a more active market wich also will benefit the safe and legit traders we have all around the place. Their buisness goes hand in hand with mugging. Without mugs people wouldnt need to sell items to traders wich pay 15% below market rates. But on the other hand would make it more attractive to sell things on the market.

Torn citizens, i wanna see some bad karma incoming. Thanks

Can you not attack someone and get them to 0 life now, and then buy the item before clicking Mug? How does that work, seems you could buy and Mug within 1 second, not 6?

Once you're in an attack no other page is viewable, if you have another tab open and click a link it'll take you to the attack

I don't hate on buy-muggers cause it's not their fault that you're weak and can't keep your money safe anyway thanks for the lesson, KK!

You should add this YT video in your OP. That will give people an even better impression then just the guide. Ran into it a while ago and was impressed. (not by the music, because that sucked)
10m - 1.4m mug 100m - 10.3m mug 200m - 17m mug 1000m - 46m mug Edit: correct numbers
[tbody]
Cash on hand%

$1020.7

$10018.39

$1,00016.09

$10,00013.79

$100,00011.49

$1,000,0009.18

$10,000,0006.88

$100,000,0004.58

$1,000,000,0002.28

$10,000,000,000 1
[/tbody]
As we can see its not really suitable to buymug above 200m unless you have a large stockpile of cash available. It is also important to buymug frequently traded items such as. Xanax, E-DVDs, FHC, DPs, Cesium, Meds, Points, Lotto Vouchers, Supply Packs, SEs Everything else not listed above will take a lot of time to sell and should be avoided unless you actually have time (and money) to wait for it to sell. Script https://greasyfork.org/sv/scripts/25921-torn-helper This script makes you see player stats right on their profiles. Im using an older script, but it seems like the creator deleted it. This script is very similar. You dont wanna spend time clicking around to much. Great for warring aswell. Vault/Company You need money to buymug right? You need a place to withdraw and deposit money fast. I would say 200-300m cash is enough to be able to buymug properly if you resell the goods within 1-2 hours. A comfortable wallet would be 600m+ but it should work with as little as 100m even if you might struggle and miss out some mugs while you are reselling items. Stats More stats = more targets. Mugging merits The differnce between 0 merits and 10 merits is 100%. Reset now. Brain Surgeon Perk (bonus) People forget to change revive settings, a lot. WLT Benefit Block (bonus) - Or BCT (7m ea) Someone sold a shitload of stuff but just jumped on a plane to Mexico? Free hugs at the airport. The differnce between a successful buymugger and a total waste of energy. Ok, so let's down to buisness. How to be fast enough to mug people beeing ready to hide all their money as soon as possible. Well you gonna work with 3 tabs of Torn open. The first page is where you browse the market for victims and also will execute your purschase. The second tab is the tab wich you will open after you have find a good bazzar to plunder, this is the tab you will have the attackwindow ready to stab your victim to the ground. And the third tab will be used as our bank/vault. Without lag you should be able to buy your item and put down your victim in about 6 seconds if you have done everything allright and done a proper setup. Step 4 - Payday, go back to your bank and store the cash. Video tutorial - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AGY1Hmv2V9k Allright, so you mugged someone and now you are a good boy. Thanks
Thats a well thought alternate career you got there man xD

You should add this YT video in your OP. That will give people an even better impression then just the guide. Ran into it a while ago and was impressed. (not by the music, because that sucked) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t7xMfjLtu4s

I'm not a big fan of muggers, but I have to respect the amount of work that goes into it nowadays when there are multiple ways to avoid being mugged.

    Well written guide, R+
