Quick route to Racing Merits

I'd never bothered with racing til about a month ago. Then I decided I wanted to gain the merits as quickly as I could. I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one so I thought I would share how I did it.
I had a gander through the forums for a guide like this but the closest thing was the upgrades guide. It was useful but contained a lot of information that I didn't care about and had to filter through. So I thought I would provide this for others in the same boat!
A race takes up to an hour to start. The hour begins when the first person enters the race. If you are the 6th person in the race, it will be quicker to start. Different tracks take different lengths of time but you can roughly do a race every 80 mins or so.
CLASS E: 25 total points to progress.
Buy a Renault Clio.
Race until you get the points needed. It took me 46 races.
CLASS D: 100 total points to progress.
Buy a Toyota MR2.
I used 20 points to upgrade:
Uprated Brake Discs
Polished Throttle Body
Open Air Filter
Strip Out
Fast Road Tyres
CLASS C: 250 total points to progress.
Buy a Honda Integra R.
I used 80 points to upgrade:
Fixed Rear Spoiler
Air Forced Engine Cooling
Fast Road Brake Fluid
Grooved and Drilled Brake Discs
Competition Racing Brake Pads
Stage one Turbo kit
Competition Polished Throttle
Full Exhaust System
Premium Uprated Fuel
Uprated Springs & Dampers (Hard)
Quick Shift
Ultra-Light Flywheel
Strip out
Fast Road Tyres
Lightweight Alloys
CLASS B: 475 total points to progress.
Buy a Sierra Cosworth
I used all available points from the off and then continued to upgrade until I had the best version of everything. I worked on the assumption that each image would only have one upgrade so you couldn't do, for example, Uprated Brakes Discs & Grooved Brake Discs. I'm not sure that is correct but it is logical and what I upgraded was more than enough. I won something like 70/85 races in Class B then advanced to Class A and earned the first merit!
As I had no interest in Class A racing, this put me in a great position to start after the second merit. It's not the best route if you want to race in Class A, but remember this guide is purely for the merits. If you want a real guide to racing, go look up RD's guide.
I'm now racing friends on one lap races on the Speedway track to get to 250 races won and that second merit. I think it is going to take a week or two but you can do about 20 races an hour if you have the time to sit around.
If you did the same thing and did it quicker, feel free to share your method below to help people. That's the way I did it and I'm buzzing I don't have to race anymore!Last edited by Madmiketyson on 15:23:39 - 12/12/15 (10 years ago) -

Posted on 15:03:11 - 12/12/15 (10 years ago)Post link copied to clipboard Copy post linkIt's a nice guide that perfectly addresses what most people will want to do with racing anyway. But if I were you, I would maybe make a fat warning at the beginning that using this method will make it extremely hard to earn any racing points while in class A. I know you kinda touch on that later, but since people on these forums tend to bitch first and read later, it'll probably save you some trouble.Last edited by hijoe on 15:03:43 - 12/12/15 (10 years ago)

Posted on 04:16:12 - 29/12/15 (10 years ago)Post link copied to clipboard Copy post linkVery similar to how I did it actually. No Class E upgrades, minimal Class D upgrades (I think I did 2), but then I dumped everything into a Class C car instead of primarily class B. Got me to racing class A in no time, then I did either C races for money (where I ruled most of the time) or had a friend purposefully lose. Agreed that this runes any chance at succeeding in the Class A arena. Hopefully racing doesn't see another update where that would be important.
Great guide.

Go ahead and enter a race. You will at least get some driving skill.Last edited by Murphy on 14:25:48 - 28/01/16 (10 years ago)

Posted on 21:48:24 - 08/02/16 (10 years ago)Post link copied to clipboard Copy post linkhow does this process ruin any chances at winning in class A? Can't you still register additional cars for class A?
-

Posted on 21:51:12 - 08/02/16 (10 years ago)Post link copied to clipboard Copy post linkYou can still register & race but if you use all your racing points in Class B, you will find Class A nearly impossible to garner any points from to get you on your way!

Posted on 21:58:43 - 08/02/16 (10 years ago)Post link copied to clipboard Copy post linkah... so one way to do it is to kit the Cogsworth for dirt in Class B and continue to race it class A, knowing you'll lose on tarmac but win on dirt.

Posted on 22:07:56 - 08/02/16 (10 years ago)Post link copied to clipboard Copy post linkYes, it's not a bad strategy at all. Whatever you do don't start upgrading a second class a car before your first is fully upgraded. Partially upgraded cars do not win any races in class a. I got the 250 wins merit with the Cosworth without arranging races, and I'm pretty sure the Cosworth is the fastest way to get there naturally.Last edited by JussiJernkuuk on 09:15:51 - 09/02/16 (10 years ago)

Posted on 20:22:26 - 03/03/16 (10 years ago)Post link copied to clipboard Copy post linkHuh, following this guide I reached class A last night. Thanks a lot. I upgraded everything possible on Sierra except safety upgrades. Took me two months of racing. In class B with Sierra I won lot of races and rest of the time I was second and third.
Races won: 59 / Races entered: 92
You have 149 racing points available and driver skill 4.35. -

The speedway circuit in Class E was by far the best cricuit to race on. Gave me all the points i needed while scoring no points at all on any of the other circuits with the Clio. -
