I love to run competitions and games for my faction. So I wanted to start a thread to share my games/comps and hopefully get some new ideas going forward. In my games I like to do them either for pure fun or to try and educate my faction members on different aspects of the game and expose them to new ways to train, do crimes, or make money. Trying new things makes the game more interesting and challenges everyone to step their game up in areas they may have never focused on.

NOTE: Most of these comps I have emulated, stolen, or tweaked ideas from others so I take no credit for creating them =)

Holiday Games

Secret Santa for XMAS
- Have people sign up on a forum thread
- Randomly pair people together and email everyone who their secret Santa partner is
- Everyone sends a parcel to the the comp host (Be sure to include what's in the parcel because keeping the parcels straight is the hardest part)
- The comp host plays Santa on XMAS and sends out the packages

Halloween/April Fools Parcel Game (Simplified Twist on Secret Santa)
- Everyone sends the comp host a parcel to enter the comp
- The comp runner creates a fake parcel with a horses head in it
- On the comp day everyone gets a random parcel from the pile and one sucker gets the horses head
- Much easier to run because you don't have to track who sent what parcel
- Lots of fun laughing at who got the horses head

Anytime Games

Russian Roulette Competition
- Alguem ran this comp once and it was a lot of fun
- Have everyone sign up and put them in a bracket system
- Everyone can compete on their own time and mark their progression
- Prize for the winner
- Alguem used http://challonge.com/ to run the brackets

Busting/Crime Competition
- Document everyone's bust counts at beginning of the comp (I miss Cyberdude's scripts so much for this type of info gathering)
- Players with the most busts at the end of the comp wins
- Not so important now days after the Jail Crime Exp nerf, but was a staple for us for a long time
- Can be tweaked to focus on Warehouse Arson's, Mob Boss, or any other good Crime Experience crime
- Teach members how to do safe crimes to protect their nerve bar
- Teach members how to build a strong 45 NNB to get them in better organized crimes

Training/Xanax Competitions
- Training stats is always a good competition to have, but hard to find a fair way to judge it because it will always favor the older players
- Option #1: Percent gained on stats = Calculate before and after and award on % gained
- Option #2: Track Xanax used since that will be equal for everybody
- Recently we did this competition and gave our low stat members free access to the Xanax in the armory during the competition
- It was a very expensive comp for us leaders, but was definitely our most successful so it was well worth it

- Teach members how to train all day like HoF faction members

Faction Wars
- Track all hits made vs defends lost
- Reward the top hitters
- Kick the slackers
- http://TornStats.com is amazing for automatically pulling logs for you (Thanks Icebluefire)
- Teach members to work as a team to make hits and NOT screw up the bonus hits
- Teach members why faction wars are the best part of this game!

Custom Missions (Thanks Hobbie)
- Set goals and have members try to achieve them
- Fly to X destinations and purchase X
- Do X number of mugs
- Do X number of attack and leaves
- Make X amount of profit trading items
- Teach members the basics through games and competitions
- Can be customized for a single player or multiple players

Money Making Competitions

Stock Trading
- Very difficult to pick a winner on these contests so prizes are usually just bragging rights
- Each player will take a section on a forum thread
- Post all purchases made after the competition started
- Post all sales made before the competition ends
- Calculate who made the highest percentage profits
- Teach members how to make money on stocks
- Teach members when stocks are a good investment vs item trading

Flower Running
- Have players flower run and turn all of the flowers into the comp host
- The comp host can pay our players in cash or points
- Can be converted to work year round if you have the right resources and it works out to benefit the players and the faction
- Teach members how to calculate flower running profits
- Teach members how to work traveling around 3x Xanax a day so their stats don't suffer

Mugging Comp
- I haven't run one of these yet, but in the planning stages and should be simple on paper
- Capture beginning money mugged
- Capture ending money mugged
- Teach members how to find good mug targets

Random Crazy Games - These are my favorite

Forum Sig Contest
- Everyone had to make forum sigs using only MS Paint
- Got some pretty good ones and had a lot of fun

Birthdays
- Track members RL and Torn birthdays so you can spoil them and give them presents!

Mentor Program
- No one likes a beggar, but we have all been noobs at some point
- Match experienced players up with deserving beginners
- Make a rule that no money or items can be given by the mentors so begging isn't an option
- Have the faction give items at mentor's requests if the beginner players deserve it

Casino Games
Anyone have good ideas here?
Some ideas off the top of my head which I haven't tried yet:
- Have everyone go for the 25 Hi Low Streak
- See who can make the best win/loss ration on Slots
- Have everyone flood the daily dime lottery for a week
- Pick a sport and have everyone make bets
- Make up small comps for the other games

Bookie Competition (Thanks ColdDeadFingers)
- Pick a starting entry total: Example $10 mil
- Pick a time frame: Example 1 week
- Have members make bets and track their profits and losses
- Players who made the best bets during that time win
- Can be honor system or players send events to comp host for tracking

Race Track Games (Thanks EnoD)
- Have members enter ranked races for their skill level and track how many 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place finishes they get
- Do custom races with non upgraded cars
- Custom race with random bets where everyone picks a number and then cars are assigned those numbers at random
- Pair up in teams of 2-3 and then do custom races where everyone enters and races. The winners get points up to 10th place and they sum up. After a month of racing, winner TEAMS are announced (Like F1 races)
- Help members get the two racing honor bars
- Teach members how to race in their spare time in Torn City
