I wouldn't mind there being some sort indicator that an item is even present on the map. Otherwise I'd probably spend hours looking at a map which has no items, which would only frustrate me :(

hey guys does anyone know if there is a limit to the amount per day. first refresh found 3 items.. i have maxed awareness. then in over 100 refreshes have not found another item.. does not quite make sense

It was the same for me yesterday. Found 3 in 20 minutes, since then nothing.
I even spent 15 minutes this morning to check the whole map carefully.
Maybe there were added 3 for everybody in the beggining and now we just have to wait till more appear? Ched said it could take a couple days until the city will get populated with items.
So those who found more than 3 actually got new items added to their city map. We (those who found 3) didnt get any new ones yet.

TBH, would you rather mindlessly click a link for hours, or actively search a virtual city for hours? The answer is fairly easy for me. Everybody used to say that finding items in city is all about activity, well that and blind luck. Now there's actually some skill to it, if you want to look at it that way, and everybody already wants to make it easier. Its impossible to calculate how much easier, but IMO this is much easier than plain old luck.

I hope they're going to do an auto reset of merits. There's no way in hell I'm going to look for items to find in a city map on a TEXT game.

Problem is, most users liked the simplicity of the old way, myself included.

I think its much better that you have to search for your items rather than just being lucky and receiving an event. However i don't have the best eyesight in the world and even with the map on full zoom i am struggling to spot anything. I can only assume all the black splats are shrubbery? Would it have been much more difficult to have had a full colour map instead of colour shaded areas of importance? After all im sure we will all know the city like the backs of our hands after a couple of days.

Old Way = Torn Login , open city , get a macro of a script to autorefresh , active it in City = easy mode profit .

    New way = work = profit ...

I found a Lion Coin and only lose 10 minutes on that.

to be honest.. i like the new system.. you have to work hard (zooming and scanning the area).. it is more combination of luck and hard work.. no more easier pie..

i have found 3 item in the last 30 minutes.. how good is that.. even though the item is not so great

Personally, its highly unlikely that im going to spend 10-15mins of my time squinting and scrolling all around the map in search of items, just to find a fox plushie :l (no disrespect of course) haha. Sometimes there may not even be one on there. For someone with 10/10 merits in awareness i would either like some sort of warning about the number ofitems on my map OR maybe the ability to see them from further out (less zoom).

I doubt i shall be finding any items in the future, andwill likely reset my merits.Im justthankful i have already found over 100items andhaveunlocked all the honor bars.

One trick I've started to employ is to actually zoom in on my browser to a comfortable level as well as zooming in on the map, as it's a little easier on the eyes.

If I'm using the closest zoom on the map them two clicks on the up/downdirection button will take me to the next section of the map up/down and when I'm finished the current "column" then three clicks on the direction button left/right will take me across to the next "segment" of the map to the left/right, so I use this to search the map systematically.

I start at the top left corner and effectively "snake" my way across the map by going all the way down, moving to the next "segment" to the right, going all the way back up and then rinsing and repeating until I've scoured the entire map. Found a Gift Card, SKS Carbine and a Flare Gun (one item each time I've searched across map across several hours).

    Edit: 7/10 upgrades on Awareness

I do second to max zoom, use the arrow buttons on map left to right, down 2, right to left, down 2 etc. it doesn't even take that long. The actual browser zoom helps as well, ty! Has anyone found any the old way?

Pretty much the same thing I do except left to right instead of up and down - as you mentioned earlier searching the map even when zoomed kills your eyes after a while, but the browser zoom seems to help with that a little.

I've been employing this exact same strategy with 0/10 merits in awareness, and I've found a grenade, Ruger 22/45, and a lollipop. Its more items than I have found in the last 2-3 months. I go three clicks to the right when I transition to a new "sector", is that about what you're doing, or are you being even more cautious by overlapping your search?

I agree, after the 1st 3 in the 1st half hour it died, I'm assuming they respawn based on your awareness level (someone else mentioned this at one point I think a committee member, wasn't sure if speculation or fact). Just gotta get a feel for how long that is. So far I'm thinking you can wait at least a few days between searches, no less than 24 hrs if you don't want to search for no reason IMO.
