So the new Newsletter is coming out, and it includes it's usual boost of some kind.  This time around, it's a free 850 energy boost, which is far more than any we've seen before.

But with that aside, there's some teasers regarding upcoming changes.  One of them being a change to the jail/busting system.  Looks like they're going make jail hard again and actually have people constantly be in Jail, which hasn't been seen in years.  Not gonna lie, i'm kinda excited for this small change.  What do you guys think about the changes to busting?  Do you think it's necessary or another "useless respo update"?

For all those having issues with redeeming the energy, make sure you log out of torn before you click the redeem link.  Once you're logged out, click the link in your email and enjoy the free energy!

Back in the days less people actively wasted E to bust. It wasn't harder to bust at all. My failrate was lower than 5% back in the days. Don't refer like they gonna change things back like the way it was as such won't clearly not be the case when making busting harder...

Does that mean many people will end up losing their 45 nerv bars or take even longer to reach 45 nerv because of being jailed more frequently.

That's a fair point.  I guess i'm just looking forward to seeing people in jail again, rather than instant busting.

I'm not entirely sure what the changes are to crime experience are (if there are any), it doesn't really say.  It merely mentions things getting more difficult, which if you're getting less success in busting, it's going to be more difficult to increase your crime experience and take longer to get your nerve bar up from it.

Got my 8k busts now, Ched can do what he likes to jail <.<

If they're making jail harder though let's hope they at least change the scaling of experience, harder busting = more experience on success hopefully.

I guess we had it coming, because busting became goddamn competitive nowadays. About a year ago (51 weeks, to be precise), I was the 51st person to break the 10k mark. Now there are 88 people who've done it, with JimmyJames poised to become the 89th as I'm writing this. Only a dozen more, and the 10k merit won't be extremely rare anymore.

The update was in the cards since we saw Tornberry getting odd jail times. In my case, it was a strong motivation to bust my fill before we get the axe, which I believed was to happen by July. Now, I'm no longer busting like crazy anymore, but apparently the competition heated up even more.

If some of you want to see how many people they can bust in a day (BTW, kudos to Bogie who busted 200+ people yesterday!), it's now or never!

I believe I was the 88th to break the 10k mark, and have since passed a few who're just above 10k.

Ah yes those Tornberry jail times were crazy indeed. His jail time was so high you couldn't even attempt to break him out of jail :p

The more busts you need for the merits/CE(aka the newer you are) the more a change like this would impact you adversely. Seems backwards for a game with such a long and steep improvement curve.

i haven't gotten the newsletter in yet though, so maybe that part reads differently.

Currently, jail isn't a punishment in the least.  It'd be nice to actually have a time where you're stuck there for a bit.  Of course it sucks, it's meant to suck.  But right now, it's hardly a second thought for most because you're out as soon as you're in...

The 850 energy is sweet! Not sure about the jail bit will have an effect on busters. hopefully its not big so they can achieve their goals/merits.

I agree it's not currently a punishment.I just hope they scale the difficulty right. For an older player with the ability to buy themselves out it's a minor inconvenience. For a newer player to work your way up the crimes you need to risk being jailed occasionally.I hope they work it so its fairly easy to bust someone who is jailed for an easier crime but make it difficult to bust somebody in jail for several hours. That way if you are young and stupid you deserve everything you get,if you are older you have the ability to get out one way or another,if you are young and trying a crime about the right level for you and fail you won't be in jail for too long.Retaining players in this game is a problem.I have been playing for about 5 years and the uptake rate has slowed a lot in the last 3 years.A friend started a few months after me and his id is 200k higher than mine.Looking at todays noob's only 600k since him.I don't want to see an update which discourages new players because they are in jail and can't do anything which would otherwise maybe keep them interested.

I hope busts become so hard that busters spend more time in jail than outside of it. They deserve it for trying to break out criminals.

This. It isn't fun to play a game where you are just stuck in jail.

Lets back up a moment here and talk about what the problem is: Busting gives crime experience. With a new crime system going into place, that is going to become far more important in the game, the heavy busters will become the Bodybaggers of the crime system. The same way self-busting for dexterity skewed stats, busting will skew crime ability.

A reasonable solution here is just to eliminate crime experience gains from busting. Maybe then it will just become a service like reviving.
