I'd say every leader has good sides and bad sides, there's simply no ideal. You can learn from everyone, either through following their example or by avoiding their mistakes. For me, I always observed what other people did and tried to learn as much as I could from them. All started ages ages ago in another game with Dink who was a great leader. After he retired there I took over and started leading for the first time.
By the time I got to TC, I had half of my crew from the other game already playing Torn so it was kinda weird ya know - telling them what to do in one game and listening to them and nodding head in the other. But I listened and learned, starting with Amoura (who actually got me to play Torn), then Hatered, DrGonzo and then of course came Nota who I learned the most from when it came to warring in TC.
Absolutely nothing that JFK has done have I done on my own - I do appreciate all the praise, but its always been a team effort, both by members and by leadership as there was almost no major decision in our history that wasn't properly discussed with everyone before making it. To me personally the key to good leadership has always been to keep our members happy. As long as they're happy, so am I - and that, along with my spare time to share both good and bad things in life and this game is all I've ever done. |
Way way way too modest there.
As has been mentioned before, some leaders used their factions and members for personal gain. Z used the faction to further the members. Surrender fees and stock market money was used to set faction members up with dividends (back when they were actually worth something) loans to buy companies so members had good income, drugs to train during breaks etc. And if there is one example of Z's leadership that stands out, its that every faction that has had a run at the top, eventually has their big fall. Sometimes real life gets in the way and people cant be as active, sometimes people get bored and move on. Z's leadership has brought him a huge amount of loyalty, and I believe that will be the difference going forward. Also, the guy is really smart. I'll go with smart. Seems better than calling the leader a geek

Thanks everyone who mentioned me. Truly means a lot
I've personally only really had one leader, but he was/is a great one... Dime.
And although he's never been my leader, Z_Junior has to be considered one of the best. Can learn a lot just from watching on the outside, and the things I've heard from past and present JFK/VV members. |
Thanks for the shout out JJ.....but wait now your my leader. This is a real chicken and egg situation. Either way your a great one and all those who have mentioned you are right on the money.
Not sure If i have done that great but when i think of leadership this quote comes to mind
Example is not the main thing in influencing others, it is the only thing.

Thx for the nod everyone. We have a great group here. All leaders have their good/bad sides.
I try to help out as best i can with info and the like. Try to be as understandable as possible to 80 + different minds.
My bad side is that i am an OC Nazi..."Trademark"
As for me, I have only had a few leaders but have been lucky enough to have great ones.
My 1st faction Dragonlance was run well by Tasslehoff.
KatyCCRN was also the co in DL and she was awesome, she answered every noob question that i had. ( and btw we are still rollin together but in FTW now). U go katygirl
And when i was in JFK 2.0 it was Berok, another great one.
P.S. Critch i sent your $20 a few hrs ago, now go enjoy a few beers on me in Hawaii bud.

I thinks thats silly question , every people will have to say their own leader probably old leader but Azrael is not ( heard that from some friends ) |
i tend to agree with you a lil bit there but on the remark about Azreal hes is a good leader is he as good as Nota well no but they both have different leadership skills so really depends what you want to class as best leader ( but id say your friends has a grudge)
and without spending a decent amount of time under another leadership how can you rate someone elses leadership
so my picks are
Nota/Azrael= wouldnt be where i am now without them having fun in TC
prichy/JC (past)= made me who i am now and got me to where i am

I would like to call you out here actually.
1.I am not a faction leader,i do not own 2.0, i am just a caretaker, and when im not leading,im co leader.
2. im pretty sure this is a thread on best faction leaders, not calling out bad ones, you dont know me and have never been in the same faction as me so i really don't see what gives you the right to say that,so you can get your "friends" to mail me direct if you like
3.I would do anything in my power for 2.0 and help any member out in anyway i could,i am quite direct and say it how i see it but that's me,some leadership is very laid back and they let things slide, not my style im afraid.
4. Back to topic No offence to Z and Nota but they are great leaders who give great advice and have knowledge of the game and also given me the opportunity to be part of a great faction and family. but ill have to vote on my first faction leader Baalsagoth, him and Ghad welcomed me into DA at level 15 and 46k total stats, taught me all about chaining and opened my eyes to a warring faction,i doubt without them i would be where i am today.

Hogs i haven't quite got a opinion on as its early days as every leader does he has his ups and downs and over time there's typically more ups than downs so futures looking good for FTW with a joint leadership of Hogs and DragonLore (great leader been my only leader til recently cant compare much but hes been there for every twist and turn of my Torn journey amongst others who help just as much)
my opinion with this is one leader is good but he cant make a great faction on his own so to all the Co's and unassigned members who help just as much you guys do a great job in FTW cheers
