Mai Juno remained seated. Double gravity didn't seem to effect her terribly. She had experienced the phenomenon many times in missions past. She grimaced a bit, but remained seated. Now was not a good time to get up for a drink of water. They would be free of Mars' gravity soon enough. Mai Juno continued reading silently. Unless the ship is attacked, there would be no reason for her to leave the ship's common area. Why go back to the cabin when it was mostly full of cases of Mars bars? She didn't eat that kind of junk food, and her friends at Olymous Mons knew this.

*The initial lurch of double gravity and lift off caught strange off guard, and he braced himself against the nearest wall as he was startled. He quickly composed himself though. It was not his first voyage off world. In a matter of moments the doubled gravity had past, and they were speeding away from mars ever faster as the engines and reactors reached their optimal temperatures.

Depending on the mood of the captain, it was a voyage that would take less than an hour at full speed, or a day at a more measured pace. *

Kresh's implants compensated for the extra gravity. If it weren't for his retinal readout he wasn't sure he would have entirely noticed, which made him feel a litle more machine than man. Pushing those depressing thoughts out of his head he set off toward the crew quarters, hoping to find someone else that had been assigned to this mission..

*Strange had decided it would be in his best interest to stand around the ship's common area and mingle. He was a smart man, and he knew his own limitations. In any combat he would be worthless, probably less than worthless, a burden. He needed to be useful, and develop some kind of a rapport with the more combat inclined members of the crew before they landed, so that they would perhaps be willing to save his ass should they, or perhaps when they, encountered a bad situation on earth.

He pulled a small green rectangle out of his pocket, and clipped it to a small electromagnet on his belt. He pushed a button on the side of the box, and it turned on a holographic projection, which after some manipulation, formed a sphere which after a moment of loading could be recognized as earth. It was worth noting that most of southeast Asia, parts of Europe, the center of North America, and the coastal regions of the remain continents were gone, flooded under expanded oceans, while the landmasses themselves appeared either arid or like arctic tundra, without a lot of "Green zone" between the two. *

Kresh's path to the crew quarters happened to take him through the common area, where he noticed a few people standing around. Kresh decided his cabin could wait, seeing as he had been looking for fellow crew members and here had stumbled across some.

Dossiers flashed across his retinal display, linking up to display information on each person in the room. Kresh read some of the small details listed out by each name. "Head of Xeno-history" happened to be the occupation of one of the men he saw now. Strange seemed to be viewing a hologram of earth.

Kresh walked up, looking at the small representation of the ruined planet. "So, where are we landing on that radioactive ball of dirt?"

I believe somewhere around.... *Strange was manipulating the projection of earth with one, hand, zooming in by pinching his fingers. The projection had flattened into a 3D map display, showing topography as strange zoomed in on small series of mountainous islands about where Iceland would have been. The "green belt" of earth ran perhaps a few hundred miles to the south, so the seas around these islands where not locked with ice, but were patchy with it. Strange zoomed in on the largest island in the chain, which a great mountain rose up from, the sides looking slick and black from a recent flow of molten rock. *

These images are a few years old, and appear to have been taken in the closest thing they have to a summer. It should be about spring now. But this is the mountain in question. If you look closely, you can see a few camps around the island. *He said as he zoomed in on a beach cargo ship on the coast. The hull had a door cut out of it, and the walls were shored up with rock and ice. Smoke could be seen coming from the hold of the ship, while trash and metal crates littered the area around the ship. *

"So we can expect at least some local resistance." Kresh said, "I assume we have shoot to kill authorization?" As Kresh finished without really waiting for a reply he extended his hand to Strange.

"Kresh Alnessa, Spec Ops search and destroy, and extraction, at your service. I assume you're here to provide us knowledge of the planet and it's inhabitants?" Kresh chose not to finish the statement, though it would be clear that he meant how best to kill said inhabitants.

I suppose that is my task, though I am not sure how much help I can be. *Strange said as he shook the man's hand. * You seem to already know of me, so I'll skip my introduction and cut straight to your question. I have no idea, but they are earthers, and if they get in the way, well, no one can impede the God-Emperor's will, yes?

I don't know how much trouble any people on site will be. I expect they will just be scavengers or fanatics. I will be more concerned with the wildlife, or if one of the mainland warlords gets word of us. Even then, we will have the destroyer in orbit, should we need fire support, yes?

(;finally noticing the broken bb code i think);

"Everyone thinks they have the big stick until they get smacked with an orbital strike eh? Though I'd like the chance to blow something up myself, I'm not really the type that is assigned to a purely diplomatic mission. And..." Here Kresh nodded slightly as if meaning some of the others in the room, "Well I doubt all of us would be called scientists." Having introduced himself, Kresh pulled up a seat and and kicked his boots up onto a small desk located near the side of the room, he didn't really know what it had been intended for but now it was for resting his feet.

Folding his arms behind his head Vol asked Strange if he knew anything particular about the others. Dossiers were useful but rarely contained everything.

(;the broken BB code is Cheddy's anti-hack protocol, its like that deliberately);

Brigadier Juno has all the information she considers vital to commit to memory before the landing. She puts down her datapad, and gives Strange a slight smile, an obvious invitation for him to introduce the soldier to his Commanding Officer.

"Well, damn." Said Red when he arrived to where the meeting had taken place. Unfortunately he had missed the meeting. He had received an invitation from the God Emperor and volunteered to take part of this mission. He looked around himself and shrugged it of.

"At least the ship didn't take off just yet. Red had boarded the ship that seemed to be a destroyer if not a over powered frigate. He swung his suitcase on his back and began to search for the living quarters by using the map of the ship lay out. He eventually found a room that lays conveniently empty. He began unpacking and fitting the room as he pleased. After he had finishedsetting his room, he undressed himself to wear simpler clothing and heard a few voices further away. His curiosity sparked him to investigate.

Just as the crew were busy examining and discussing the information on Earth A stranger had entered.

He stood well over six feet, his physique is in between masculine and average. His head is hairless and covered with dark green tattoos. Both of his eyes are milky, showing no signs of pupils and clean of red veins that are suppose to be in the eye. His skin is as brown as a Mars bar, his nose a bit more spread out across his face , lips are thick and a mix of pink and brown and his mouth is surrounded by a never changing dark green goatee.

He had on simple clothing for the time being. A sleeveless green T-shirt and shiny black pants. His discolored right arm, which by the way is dotted with small light green mechanical 'beads' was holding on a 1Lt bottle of water and he looked at the people around him. It felt awkward. He felt like he just barged into a party and killed the mood. He was going to check out what the commotion was after waking up from his living quarters.

"Am I interrupting?"

Well, there is always the highest ranking person on the team. *Strange said, giving the Brigadier a smile back. *

Brigadier Juno, as I am sure you are already aware, this is Special Operative Alneesa. I am sure you two will get along excellently, and make sure that academics like myself make it home with most of our limbs. *Strange smiled at his own little joke, then zoomed out on his projected map to display the entire island. He was no great surveyor, but he couldn't help but see that this desolate, snowy rocky did not have any immediately noticeable caves into the mountains, which was somewhat discouraging...*

Kresh saluted. Though he commonly introduced himself as Spec Ops he was actually a captain within his branch, which meant Juno had a few more promotions under her belt and clearly outranked him. He waited just long enough for his dismissal by Juno with the typical "at ease" before smiling and saying, "While I'd love to have a nice little chat, I think that was this man's way of asking to be introduced." While saying this Kresh had gestured toward the new arrival.

"The name's Red. Red Stone.", The man had answered the stranger who had saluted a woman. He is surprised how fast he got up from his chair from his chair and immediately saluted.

The man had walked a bit closer to him, relieved that the two stand about the same eye level and able to actually introduce himself. He put on a polite smile and stretched out his right arm for a hand shake.

(;I actually saluted Juno, my ranking and commanding officer for this mission);

The man, Red as he called himself, had taken the chance to introduce himself. After closer inspection he seemed of similar build to Kresh, not the same, but similar. He wondered if this man had any genetic alteration or implants like Kresh himself did. Kresh took the man's hand in a firm handshake, not too firm though, he had accidentally crushed a mans hand before he had learned to control his implants.

"So what's your thing?" Kresh asked the man, "Soldier, ,merc, random guy that wandered onto the wrong ship?" He threw the last bit on as a joke, with the security at the docks, the only people on this ship were the ones meant to be here.

To any of the soldiers who may be listening, Mai Juno makes a bit of a pre-announcement, probably to whet their appetites for battle.

"You soldiers are some of the best, and you were chosen by myself, and some of my friends on the Olympus Mons Defence Station, to participate in a classified project that has been ongoing. You will be issued full-body mechanised suits designed specifically for an Earth occupation. Only 50 were produced, but on this mission, I have been given authorisation to use them. Though we don't plan to actually occupy Earth, this mission is a perfect test environment for them."

Mai Juno hands any spec-ops, MP, or infantry soldiers who may be present a copy of the specs.

"Familiarise yourselves with this information. Until this mission is complete, you will use this tech. The suits are expendable, but then, so are we. Their performance data record (;black box); is not. R&D wants it back, and they all will make the return trip, even in the event that we don't. Keep that in mind."

The occupation suits are very nice. They protect the soldiers from radiation, toxins, and the extreme temperature fluctuations of Earth. You would have to be more than slightly daft to refuse the use of one in such an environment.

"You can opt out of this program, but your life expectancy will decrease accordingly. There is a full meeting about them 2 hours prior to landing. I will have more information about your military-issued equipment and military expectations then. The meeting will be here, in the common area. Professor Strange and others in this mission have been given clearance to attend, as it is vital that we all coordinate our efforts to ensure the success of this mission."

I am very pleased to have been included. *Strange said with a bob of his head. Not there there was any real arguing with the Brigadier, she seemed a nice person, but Strange was not stupid enough to ever, ever say no to any invitation from the Martian military. That was an excellent way to get your name put on some very unpleasant lists. *

Brigadier Juno returned the nod in approval, with her normal cheerful smile.

"Good. I take it we shan't have any objections, since the military of Mars, under the guidance of our Emperor, can be shown to always have the best interests of not only Mars, but the Martian people as a primary concern. With a strongly and well-coordinated effort, we will minimise casualties and perform our mission quickly and efficiently."

Mai Juno would sooner die in battle than survive and this not be the case. Leadership was a difficult path, as the leaders of failed missions traditionally claimed full responsibility, despite that punishment was generally given to all ranks who were determined by a review board to have had a hand in the less-than-satisfactory performance.

Fortunately, she wasn't particularly worried about it. Her record and popularity spoke for themselves. She gave Strange, and the other non-military personnel forms release and temporary induction forms to sign and return. Standard procedure for a military-led operation like this one. By Martian Law, this must be done prior to the release of any information.

Kresh stepped forward to Juno, If I may be so bold He continued though he knew his speech was informal at best. I know I was a last minute addition to the team so while information on myself may have been provided, information on my requisitions and personal items may have been left out. I have my own personalized combat exo-suit that I would be more than willing to supply the specs for so you may be sure that the suit is up to your standards brigadier. I would also be willing to add insight on any tactical discussions if you deem it necessary maam.

As Kresh finished talking he became more formal and saluted, awaiting the brigadiers reply.

"Very well," replies Mai Juno.

"Good," she thought to herself. "An extra suit would mean an extra chance at survival to someone on this ship."

A civilian-grade exploratory suit would not have the deflection capability/battle armour/integrated weaponry that a military-class exosuit would have.

"Thank you, soldier. It is very important that we coordinate what we have and integrate our forces cohesively."

That was basically military-speak for "Thank you for telling me what the Generals don't. I need to know that sort of thing so that I can use what we have."

Mai Juni smiled a bit that a soldier of this calibre would have been included for this mission. She had requested the best soldiers, and it seems that she got what she wanted. Possibly a bad thing, as for this to be the case, the highest leadership would have felt a compelling need for it, meaning that the threat would have to be greater than her mission specs would lead a person to believe.

One-man-armys they're called, very adaptable, used to working alone. They're the ones to send in first, to assess a situation and a huge asset to any strike team.

"You will maintain communications on a separate frequency, and will communicate directly with me, and those transmissions will not be available to the rest of the team. You will be sent in first, as I'm sure you're used to this sort of preliminary assessment and tactical deploy. If you feel the need to maintain communication to any other member or members of the team, please let me know, or submit the proper request form to the tech team in triplicate, and give me the orange copy." Standard procedure for them, really.

Juno hated bureaucracy, but in the military, it was inescapable.

Then, addressing the non-military personnel present, "It would seem we have an extra military-grade Earth Occupation suit. Rather than let it sit unused, I am willing to offer training and assignment of it to another member of this team. Let me know if a battle-suit with environment-specific armour and weaponry would interest you and you will be considered."

Kresh couldnt help but smile, before his best case scenario would have been to command a small detachment of men but this was even better. Clearly Juno was worthy of her title. She knew what he was good at and wouldnt hinder him from doing it by forcing him to take care of tagalongs.

Kresh hit a few buttons on an electronic gauntlet he was wearing and soon it had printed off a small spec sheet for his combat suit. It detailed the hardened plate armor attached to the standard exoskeleton along with its advanced nano-armor. This nano-armor was actually nanobots that could be released from the suit and they had multiple applications. Once the bots were released they projected high intensity light beams between one another creating a deflective shield capable of deflecting standard projectiles as well as energy rounds and making Kresh far more durable in a headlong charge. Besides this, the light could be refracted in such a way as to provide the suit minimal stealth capabilities, the less you moved the less likely you were to be seen. If any of these defenses failed the nanobots were capable of minimal suit repairs, aided by failsafes in the suit itself.

On the shoulder, hard mounted into the suit was a high powered plasma cannon which could be focused for jobs as precise as welding metal or blowing boulders to bits. Within the suits were motorized joints, further increasing the wearers strength and speed as well as multiple layers to block or absorb incoming radiation. There was also a layer of gel toward the outside of the suit, hardening to repair any possible tears.

Besides these facts, this sheet would list numerable other applications that Juno may or may not wish to reveal to the rest of the time but even this sheet didnt reveal Kreshs ace in the hole.

Kresh handed the small slip of paper to Juno, clearly happy with his assignment. Thank you Brigadier, I promise to maintain the lowest amount of casualties for our team. He didnt hide the fact that he expected someone to die on this mission; he just wanted it to be clear that it would be their own mistakes, not his. Sometimes Kresh could come off as callous, whether he meant to be or not.

Red feels a bit incapable after over hearing the woman who seemed to have a position as an officer if she was able to tell the soldier he had talked to earlier. Red doesn't really have a way to protect himself from Earth's radiation let alone get used to the gravity of the planet.

"May I have the honor of wearing that extra suit, ma'am?", Red asked.

Mai Juno hands Red a form to fill out, questions about himself and his background. Many of the questions are health and criminal background-related, but a few are things like "Are you registered with the Martian Imperial Wildlife Reserve as a licensed hunter?" trying to determine if the individual is capable to wield a weapon.

"Please return to me this application, in order to be considered. I will need approval for this assignment."

If no one else requested it, then Red would get it, provided he wasn't on a blacklist.

Red noticed that the sheet is being pretty personal, making it a tough and uneasy decision whether or not he should really get himself a suit. He hesitated for the time being and went into deep thought. He has never put any information on himself anywhere in the virtual net- personally. He led out a loud exhale and filled the sheet with what he knew about himself. As soon as he had finished he handed the form back to the woman. Of course He didn't mention certain details, but this should do it if she were to accept these blunt answers.

Name: Red Stone
Age: 10 ( martian years )
Relatives: biological parents deceased

Body/health: Body is masculine and healthy. He doesn't carry any viruses or bacteria that would harm him or the people around him. No real cybernetic influence within his body and organs. He has never been sick in his entire life. Oddities are the milky white eyes and the deformed right arm. His eyes grant him three different types of vision, the first being thermal, the second vision is meant for noctornal purposes and the last vison is black and white. His right arm cannot be identified but it's pretty obvious it's artificialy made and have a connection with the bead-like implants.

Bio: Test subject since birth. Escaped with the age of 5. Spent 2 years in insignificant parts of a few martian cities leading the cheap life until he got noticed by a government official. No school education. Unemployeed. No crime record.

Are you registered with the Martian Imperial Wildlife Reserve as a licensed hunter? No

*Strange smiled at the militaristic folks and signed his papers. He didn't have the guts for combat, and he never would.

Fortunately, it was not his job to fight, there were so many others here who seemed suited for it that he would not need to.

He would certainly stop at the armory on his way off the ship. Pick up something that was small enough to hide, and that you didn't need to aim real good to hit anything. *

(if your character is not a soldier, and wants to be quickly trained as one and issued an Earth Occupation suit, please post that you request it here. I will read what I have missed, and respond at that time. You have 9 days, and then I will post the response when I return. Hopefully activity will increase by that time, and this thread will begin to take off.)

Mai Juno takes the application from Red, and begins cross-referencing the information contained therein on her military-computer, hardlined into the ship's military-use access port for security. She accepts any other applications which come in (while I am on holiday) and does the same.

The rest of this period is spent preparing for the pre-deployment briefing, announced earlier and in a final inspection of all the equipment, standard military procedure. You can never be too careful!

( Yeah, he needs to be trained with the suit. )

Red is satisfied that she accepted his info and is a bit uneasy that it's now registered in the computer. Not too used to having his information known but atleast it shows alittle proof that he took part of this mission.

"So when's school?" He asked with a sarcastic tone.

Mai Juno smiles and tells him, "An eager learner, good. The sooner we begin, the better. This training does not excuse you from the team meeting."

She leads Red to the military portion of the ship, swiping her badge where needed, entering access codes to enter.

She hooks him into a cryo-freeze chamber, which will slow down his body temperature to sllow for a week's worth of training in about 90 minutes. It is completely AI training in a simulator.

Brigadier Juno asks him if he has any questions for her before he begins the training. She will escort him back before the meeting.

"No questions yet, ma'am." Red had answered.

He can't think of any that aren't personal. Trying to learn who these people are is his priority at the moment but he doesn't have the time to do that bow that he is in cryo. Shifts his body a bit to go into a more comfortable pose.
