Story
How do apocalyptic films start? Normally the main hero is some guy who either wakes up in the hospital, or has been fighting for weeks. The hero is normally someone who could survive, and the list of candidates goes from nerdy student or bike courier, even to doctors and soldiers. Within this though, you never really hear much about teenagers. Seriously, how many films, books, games have had the main hero being some random teenager who fights to survive. I can name one, and only one.

This, this is a story of you and your friends, all hanging out in the same house, all playing the xbox. Why, you ask, because you are a sad teenager who has nothing good in his life but to play a game with his friends, doing so in different rooms of the same house. The house in question has four different bedrooms, a rarely used kitchen, two bathrooms and various decorations. These range from vintage baseball bats, decorative katanas, movie signs and even a life size statue of a storm trooper.

You and your friends have just finished playing the xbox, when you hear a scream from outside. You must now decide who is going to open the door.

Characters
Really this can be anything you want, but he has to be a geekish gamer. This means he can still be the most popular guy on the football squad, but he’s a gamer at heart. You must describe what he’s wearing in full in your first post.

Weaponry
Anything you can find really, just nothing like randomly finding a big stash of guns in a car backseat.

Zombies
These are the Romeo zombies, as in they are slow and a headshot/cutting off the head, will kill it.

The smallest room in the house was also the most well-ventilated, which was why Lyndalia chose it. She was a great gymnast, and could easily have been a cheerleader, except for one thing. She loved gaming. Loved probably isn't a strong enough word. It was an obsession. Her parents got tired of it, so when she turned 16, she moved out.

And so there she was, in the smallest room of this house of outcasts, decorated with a few gaming posters, a very nice Celtic sword, which Lyndalia got from her grandfather, much to her father's chagrin, and a simple dresser. Lindalia didn't have much, but she didn't want much. She did have a scooter and a job at Starbuck's, and that was enough to pay her Internet bill, and her part of the living expenses.

Lyndalia stood at only 160 cm, and was wearing a long T-shirt and flip-flops, the shirt being comfortable and what she would typically sleep in. The flip-flops were what she normally would wear to the shower, but she put them on, as they were right by her bed and easy to slip on. The shirt itself was a faded pastel pink and had a picture of the princess from Super Mario Brothers 2 and the caption "Princess Power!" on it. She'd had it forever, but loved it because it was soft and huge.

Then she heard a noise outside, and just after beating her high score. She just froze there, waiting. She tended not to make the first move, not until she knew what she was up against. Her breathing slowed as she waited there, silently as she could, and only her heart would give her away...

Phil's eyes fluttered open as there was a sudden, undescribed, noise outside his room door. He simply grunted and rolled back over.

Phil was pretty much your average seventeen year old gamer, when he wasn't gaming of eating he was sleeping, and right now he was neither hungry nor could he be bothered reaching over for the TV remote to change it to the correct channel for the xbox. So, he slept.

The noise did not bother him much, someone else would deal with it.

His room was small, but he didn't need much. A single bed, on which he now lay trying to get back to sleeep, a single set of drawers where he kept his clothing and whatnot, a fairly sized 32" HDTV he had brought to the house when he first moved in along with his Xbox and his mass collection of games, and to top it all off four large game posters. The first of which was plastered above his bed and featured the famed 'Dovahkiin' in full battle armour, two axes in hand. The second was on the back of the thin wooden door and featured not a game character but one from a book series instead, one of two book series Phil had ever bothered to read. Sitting in a hunched position was Eddard Stark, with his bastard sword 'Ice' before him. The third, and largest of the lot, was a battle scene with a dozen or so explosions advertising Halo;Reach. The final poster is on the left wall and depicts a handsome youth standing in a light blue ocean, a strange see-through blade in hand, this was of course 'Tidus' from his favourite final fantasy game, Final Fantasy 10, which he was currently running through for the ninth time.

His black jeans did not make for comfortable sleepwear but he really could not be bothered removing them, nor his matching black long sleeved shirt with the slogan; "Haxzorz Pwnz Nwbz" written across it in bold white text. His shoes were by his bedside, the laces sloppily tucked inside the shoe as he could never be bothered tying them.

After a brief lapse of consciousness, Phil was sleeping once more.

" Argh !", the young adult smacked his hand on his desk. Infront of his screen is a battle seen, StarCraft2, him being a Terran but defeated easilly by a zerg player who used massed Zerglings.
" Unbelievable !" He cried.

The room is dark, lit by the blueish light coming from the classic computer desktop that lay on a impressive desk. The room had not all too much furnituire: there was the bed in the center of the room, a closet, his large desk and afew shelfs on the opposite corner of the room, one filled with games from the 90s to the present era and another filled with anime mangas and phycology books. This room belonged to Eddie.

Eddie is labeled an outcast by his school, being an both a 'otaku' and a gaming person he earned the reputation quiet easilly. The kids in his highschool tend to like him since he is a great advisor with the games that pop up every now and then, but no one shares his love for anime, forcing him to keep this hobby for himself. He is an afro-american male, naturally athletic thanks to his 'outdoor childhood', being 19 years of age and under the disorder of autism.

Standing 5'9, having hardly much muscles in his arms, a bare chest, muscular legs and abdominal area and large feet. His head is shaved with the exception of his mustache and small beard with 20 hairs or so, obviously attemption to have a goatie. His eyes are light brown, lips thick and purple, thin eyebrows over his eyes, a wide nose and ears that slightly stick out, but not all that much. He looked rather handsome for a gamer, but he had no interest in girls knowing that he would have to go to a noisy disco or bar to find them, that is not for him, especially with his disorder.

He heard the knocking sounds too. He looked behind himself. He opened his door, looking out at the hall way.

" Who is making that noise ?" He asked himself outloud.

He interrupted Lyndalia by slowly opening the door that lead to her room. Seeing that she sat all silently and queitly, it had troubled him. He moved on to Phil's room... A sleeping young man lay before him when he had entered the room. This had made the man uneasy. Wearing a rather stylish light green shorts, a green shirt with the statue of lyberty printed on it, A expensive watch with emerald gems from his birthday afew months back and last but not least he is wearing socks. His black and green shoes are beside the door of his room, incase he need to go outside and do some shopping.

" Who is outide ?" He had asked himself once more.

No answer came from it. He only listened, playing a number of scenerios from his head and leaning againts the wall close to Phil's room- incase he had to wake him up.

Robbie had been sitting on the edge of his bed, the volume of his tv as low as possible. Thanks to his technical skills, he had connected his tv to his PC, and was playing his DC Universe Online game upon it. He had been in a party with three other people, who quickly left just after they had complete their twentieth mission in a row together. Robbie wasn't really fussed though.

Of the people in the house, Robbie was perhaps the loneliest. He weighed around 21 stone, despite looking thinner, and had a black Mohawk, with blue tips. He did have tattoos, but as he had told no one where they were, their existence was highly debated.

Around his room lay several different mementos from his childhood, including a baseball bat from his uncle, signed by a bunch of rugby players, his DC statue collection, which was complete, and his entire wall made up of movies and games.

He turned the game off, and as he did so a noise made him jump. He walked outside of his room, where he saw Eddie and Lyndalia. Just as he was about to ask what the noise was, it happened again. After a few seconds, it seemed obvious that they weren’t going to inspect the noise, and that Phil was nowhere to be seen.

He opened the door, and to his surprise there wasn’t anything there. As he turned his head to the others, he was suddenly attacked by a zombie, making him trip. If he wasn’t helped, then he might die.

Phil was rudely awoken a second time by a similiar noise, and then the sounds of a struggle outside the door. He grumbled once and then roared, not even taking his head off the pillow to do so; "If you don't shut up out there I swear I'm gonna kick some ass!"

That would be a sight to see, since Phil was four foot eleven and as thin as a stick. His skin was pasty white and his hair was short blonde. His eyesight was bad, but he refused to go and get glasses because it took far too much effort on his part.

He rolled back over and attempted to sleep for a final time, his bloody roommates rarely had the decency to let a man sleep his life away...

"Phil, wake the f*ck up" Robbie shouted, pushing the zombie off of him with strained effort. He stepped backwards, towards Eddie and Lydidia. "We've got a bit of a nutcase here." In truth Robbie was mere moments away from havin a breakdown.

Lyndalia knew that she needed a weapon, but she didn't go for the sword, as a Celtic sword is huge and she could barely lift it, let alone fight anything with it. Instead, she grabbed the machete she kept in the corner, near her little tent and sleeping bag for when she would go camping in the deep woods. Lyndalia was the sort that would think nothing of cutting through the brush to get to somewhere amazing that nobody else would think to go, and she had some amazing camping pictures, some of which she had published in the school newspaper in a little article called, "Off the beaten path".

Her hair was dark purple (she dyed it that colour, obviously) and was shoulder-length. Weighing in at 8.21 stone, Lyndalia rushed to help her fallen friend brandishing the very machete that she had used to cut through the forest underbrush with relative ease.

When she got to Robbie, she had somehow lost her flip-flops, as they didn't respond well to running, and her first action was to try and help him up. Then she saw it.

Zombies aren't real, and yet there one was, so she did what any teenage girl would do: she screamed an horrifying, high-pitched, blood curdling scream, enough to make any living creature cringe, an awful noise that only a teen-aged girl who is scared out of her mind can make, like a thousand long fingernails running down a giant chalkboard simultaneously. When her fight-or-flight mechanism kicked in, the machete found itself lopping off the zombie's hand, then head, and in the end, chopping it up into tiny bits, as she screamed various phrases such as "Zombie apocalypse!" "We're all going to die!" and "I need to make coffee for this, seriously!".

When it became apparent that the zombie was chopped into small enough bits, Lyndialia finally calmed down enough to stop screaming, and her voice hurt, but she somehow managed an, "Awe man, I got zombie crud on my machete" and she wiped it as best she could in a nearby bush, which probably belonged to a neighbour. Fortunately, there was an outdoor tap, and she rinsed her bare feet before going back into the house so as not to track in mud (as she probably would have had to clean it anyway, so best not to make a mess). She immediately started up the cappuccino machine and started making that espresso she was on about earlier. What else could you expect from a barrista?

"Of course," Lyndalia replied, still shaking a bit.

Since she was making coffee anyway, she went ahead and started breakfast, as she doubted she would be sleeping any time soon after that. Fortunately, Lyndalia was always prepared to make a morning fry-up, and that was probably just what she and Robbie needed at that moment.

Phil, now well and truly woken, slouched out of his room rubbing his temples. He bypassed the hall without opening his eyes and all and made his way to the kitchen, as he smelled that the female was cooking once again.

He yawned loudly, and wiped his eyes with one hand whilst saying; "What the hell was that noise? Can you people never let a man sleep, I only got 9 hours or something..."

"Nah, not hungry." Phil replied casually as he leaned against on of the counters.

He paused for a moment before replying cooly to her first comment; "Oh, that levels easy. Grab the minigun in the storage cabinet behind the spawn then go to town, ammo drops are way to common as well."

It was clear Phil thought Lyndalia was talking about some sort of video game.

Lyndalia poured 4 cups of espresso and invited Phil to have a seat at the table.

"Right, so I know I come off as a looney much of the time, and perhaps I am, but.."

Lyndalia paused to take a drink of the very strong, but surprisingly not-too-bitter espresso, thinking the best way to say this without sounding like a complete looney.

"That noise was a real zombie. Trust me, I've seen enough horror films to recognise a zombie when I see one. That reminds me, I should probably burn those remains after breakfast..."

Lyndalia then proceeded to start eating the fry-up, as all that chopping a zombie into bits had made her more than a bit peckish.

Phil stood where he was, he didn't take a coffee because he wasn't fond of the stuff. He enjoyed sleep and that devil-juice kept him awake.

"Riiiight...Did someone lent Lyndalia into the medicine cabinet again?" The use of the word again was silly, since there had never been a first time, but to Phil the story did sound a bit silly.

Barry was probably what one would call the outcast of the outcasts. He didn't really get along with anyone in the house, and just paid his fair share of the bills when he got the chance, and doing his best to avoid paying his fair share when he didn't have the means to pay. His job at the local McDonalds barely kept him going.

His lack of a decent income and living expenses meant that he didn't really feed himself well, and only really ate when one of his other house mates offered him leftovers after ordering something, or when he began to faint and play badly at games.

Because of this, Barry looked like an anorexic and people would joke he was just walking skin and bones. On the rare occasion he did go outside to stock up on food, he'd throw on some black jogging bottoms, a plain white t-shirt, and a black hoody. He didn't really own any colourfully decorated clothing aside from a red and yellow stripped scarf that he was particularly fond of.

He lived in one of the houses two bathrooms and so he got a bit of grief from the people he shared the house with from time to time, since one bathroom between the others only just about worked out. With a TV on the wall in front of the bath, and a computer set up just beside it, Barry spent most of his time just laying in the bath watching TV or browsing online forums.

Barry had been playing a visual novel on his computer when he heard someone scream from downstairs. Normally he wouldn't pay attention to any noise his house mates made, but he was rather hungry and couldn't recall the last time he ate something.

"Eh, I guess I can go investigate and grab something to eat" He said to himself in an unenthusiastic manner.

With that he saved his progress and lifted himself from the bathtub, picking up his duvet off of the floor and wrapping it around him to cover his nudeness. While he was not one to care about dressing indoors, he didn't like to walk around naked either.

Making his way downstairs he walked straight into the kitchen, paying less than expected attention to the barely recognisable body that Lyndalia had gone to work on.

Going straight to the cupboard for his jar of peanut butter, he spoke up to question what he'd just noticed on his way in.

"There's a dead guy just outside, I'm not taking the blame for it."

Quickly spreading some peanut butter on a couple of slices of bread he'd just removed from the bag, he continued before anyone could respond.

"So, who killed the... guy?" The condition of the body meant that he hadn't picked up if it was man or woman upon his brief encounter with the corpse.

Barry shot a look at Lyndalia after the bathroom jab, one that clearly showed he was offended and angry.

"Hey, I keep that bathroom as clean as possible. Damn cleaner than most of this house in fact."

Despite being rather lazy, Barry did clean the bathroom to absolute perfection from time to time. And while it always did eventually end up completely uninhabitable, it never stayed that way for long.

Still doubting rubbish he felt he was being fed by the two, he decided to get a little more serious.

"Zombies are a thing of fiction, you'll do well to remember that since your a murderer now. Unless you want to be declared clinically insane that is."

He took another big bite of his sandwich before looking away from Lyndalia and down at the table.

Lyndalia laughed it off, as she poured herself another cup of espresso, this time flavouring it with a splash of Irish cream, "Being clinically insane will probably be an advantage in a zombie apocalypse scenario!" Lyndalia sat back down.

Barry took great dislike that Lyndalia persisted with such nonsense and stood upright for a few seconds after finishing his sandwich, but looked at the ground.

He muttered some barely audible words.

"You're all nuts, especially you.. bloody women."

He lifted his head and continued, this time his words being more of a declaration.

"And I'm out of here before you end up killing someone else... or killing me next!"

He made his way out of the kitchen and began back upstairs, careful not to go near the body. He didn't want anything to do with this mess.

That last comment visibly hurt Lyndalia's feelings. She was inconvenienced by Barry's exclusive use of one of the bathrooms, but she didn't hate him. She knew that they would have to stay together if any of them wanted to survive. If there was one, there had to be more. "I would never hurt you," she replied, both softly and sadly. "How could you even think that?" she asked rhetorically, as he was probably halfway up the stairs by then, and quite likely wouldn't have heard.

Lyndalia went over to the living room tele and turned to the news station. Maybe there would be something useful on the news. At least, she hoped there would be.

Phil leaned off of the counter; "Dead guy...Outside? Are you serious!?" He sprinted out of the room and sure enough there was a rather chopped out, clearly dead, body staring him in the face.

"I'm out!" Was all Phil shouted before he ran into his room and bolted the door. He sat on his bed and began putting his shoes on; "Screw these guys...Bloody killers, zombie apocalypse my ass.."
