The man's confidence even put a smile on this man. teeth showing that he enjoyed that man's reply both as humour and as a sign that he wont back off and continue fighting the enemy. Before the man's smile came into view on his dark face he was trying to take in Master Jong Jong's discription seriously, he can't imagine the power of that old man, to go to an extent to call him a 'demon' and to even mention Shang TOa and Lao/himself to be 'weak' compared to Master JongJong. Leaf better stay away from that man if fate allows it.

"That is exactly what they are expecting us to do. Auron has, to an extent, knowledge of how powerful Balthazaar is, and no doubt he knows that he has sided with us. He must have a plan to counter even Balthazaar if he still plans to go on attacking, knowing full well that Balthazaar shall be his enemy." Faolin said to John's suggestion.

"Pfft, seeing an attack coming and being able to prevent it are two very different things Faolin." Balthazaar said with continued confidence. It was clear he really wasn't taking this very seriously at all; "Maybe I should tie one of my arms up behind my back, or better yet I should fight blindfolded! Yeah, that sounds like it would be fun!"

Faolin sighed, knowing there was little point in arguing with Balthazaar when he was like this. Once again Fenrir giggled, whilst Achilles began nodding in agreement and shouting out more and more ridiculous handicaps that both he and Balthazaar should try out.

"Unfortunately I know nothing of this leader figure, other than the fact he is seemingly responsible for the necromancy." Faolin said glumly.

"I know nothing about him either." Fenrir piped in, after a slight stare from Faolin.

"Neither do I." Lao voiced, Achilles done likewise, and then Balthazaar and Toun.

Sir Tillion sighed loudly; "I know nothing either...Does anyone know anything at all about the head of this organization?"

"I would think he is a Master of Death," a high, squeaky voice spoke from the doorway. When everyone looked they would no doubt first see the tall, dark-haired figure dressed all in black listlessly and silently waiting. A few of the more astute would then notice a midget elf on his shoulders. A midget elf of horrible constitution; the being looked rather as if it had fought a hundred battles in the shortest amount of time possible. “Of the highest calibre.” Desi, for that was whom the midget elf was, continued.

***

Brunnex should have picked up on it immediately but he had been a tad distracted. Now that he had he could feel the part of Desi’s soul, consumed by him, restlessly twitching in proximity to it’s other half. Brunnex would hazard a guess that the state of disrepair Desi’s body was in was probably a side effect of taking a new form with only half a soul to his name or less.

“What brings a Kintera and his pet to join us this fine afternoon?” Brunnex asked glaring at his Creator.

“Here to help as always.” Desi squeaked his little voice rather comical and non-threatening. “A very long time ago seven human mages of notable power came together (from all disciplines) with one objective in mind; to cheat death. After several years they achieved what they believed gave them the right to call themselves Master’s of Death. They forged seven staffs for this task and, in turn, inscribed their method onto seven scrolls to which each member was given one of either and they parted their separate ways. Their method, in a purely simplified way of explaining, is body-swapping. They use the staff to exchange their soul into another’s body and then kill their old body which contains the soul of the body they just took. They did not defeat death; merely cheat it out of it’s prey for a little while. Hades, slighted by their arrogance, instructed seven Kintera to hunt these so-called Master’s of Death. Eventually the Master’s of Death had died and so ended that legacy.” Desi explained leaving out a few important points here and there but what did one expect from a Kintera? What was the point in being forthcoming if you were a very old and very anguished evil spirit; am I right?

“However,” He continued “I believe the Leader of this organisation is a new Master of Death. In fact I am sure of it. It is the very reason I came back to Sardo. The members of this group have been around for a very long time and, as far as I can tell, the actual members have never been Fallen yet their natural lifespans have ended some time ago. There are also reported sightings of some member’s with the same sword and abilities changing appearance every century or so. It’s too much of a coincidence I’d dare say. As for these Fallen the technology within the staff is there and the Third Master of Death looked into such a thing extensively. It is possible he found the Third’s staff and research notes or was plausibly even his apprentice of sorts.”

Faolin eyed the newcomer up skeptically, he couldn't quite remember where but he was sure that he had seen this thing before. The man who's shoulder he was perched upon was another matter entirely, Faolin was 100 percentage sure that he had never seen that one before.

Trying to rack his brain for where he had seen this guy in the past Faolin asked the question on everybody's lips; "Who are you, good sir, and how did you get into this private meeting without alerting any of the guards?"

Faolin hoped, for progresses' sake, that this guy was what he seemed to be; a helpful newcomer with more information on the leader than the rest of the gathered men combined, except maybe Shino. If he turned out to be a threat, then Faolin could think of no stupider place for one such threat to present itself so boldly. The room was, after all, filled with the strongest beings this side of the war...

“I,” He started imperiously “am known as Desi. He,” He added patting his dark-haired friend “is Nunamo; a biologically engineered super-ninja. Created him myself; makes him sort of your half brother, Brunnex.”

Brunnex scowled at him. “He is a kintera. Not any old Kintera but the very one that taught all the others how to steal innocent elven bodies. He was part of the seven sent to catch the Master’s of Death. He failed to catch his before someone else murdered him and here he stands desperate as ever to catch this one as if it will do him any good. He’s a failure and a wreck.” Brunnex said harshly more than a modicum of hate reserved for his creator. “I would be happy to dispose of him for you.” He added grimly.

“O-ho, let’s not act too rashly.” Desi countered quickly “I have no ill intentions no matter my past crimes. Besides I’ve spent more time hunting these Master’s of Death than most people in this room have lived. Nunamo here is a skilled fighter and I would pledge both my expertise and his skill for but one thing; the killing blow on this new Master of Death.”

"There's a lot that can be done with a killing blow's power, if its the right person you're killing." Achilles grunted. He knew well enough of Desi's past connections to Brun, but he didn't much see the need for sharing at the moment.

"The more allies we have the better, as far as I'm concerned." Sir Tillion said with a nod of his head; "If no one opposes this idea then I think we have gained a new ally."

"We have foul bloodmages and criminals of the highest degree alike in our number, what harm could one little Kintera do us?" Lord Ostagar asked sarcastically.

“Well, if that is agreed let us sit.” Desi answered ordering Nunamo with his last word. Nunamo gave him a sultry look but sat in Shane’s recently vacated chair anyway Desi still content to sit on the man’s head. The little elf glanced around his practised eye lazily searching for bits of hair that may be on the table. A clone of any of the men at this table would serve him well in one way or another.

*Tourivil's hand on the table clenched a small amount at the mention of foul blood mages. But, he had slightly more self control than his master, and did not make Lord ostagar's eyeballs explode, as much as it would have pleased him to do so. He did not seem particularly impresed with the new arrival, but again, he diplomatically held his tongue. He continued to scratch the back of the little beast, and listened to his comrades in arms share their information. He alone had none to add. *

"Very, to move forward with this discussion perhaps Desi, our new comer, should share what he knows about this group and it's members in whole. That way we are all on the same playing field before Toun gives a summarized feedback of our gathered knowledge, and then Shino adds what he can." Sir Tillion said, noticing the growing animosity of both the host, and some of the Lords, concerning passing and the two new arrivals to the party. A few of them were beginning to question if they had heard the name Shino before, and their recollection of said name wasn't going anywhere nice to say the least...

“Hmm,” Desi said thoughtfully “Well I should start by saying that this group is not a rag-tag assortment of the finest swordsmen throughout the world. This group is a rag-tag assortment of the finest fighters throughout one particular company. Many of you know we border Xing but further beyond that are the Imperial Lands of Japan; quite a military strength in these modern times. They are known rather well for their rather queer way of fighting for they shout out the names of their spells before they use them and do the most complicated hand gestures.

Anyhow the group, leader aside to whom I know little of his actual identity, all come from this country though have grown out of those queer customs.

N: Nahkaro; known in Japan as Garland Shinsui though I believe Nahkaro to be his birth name; deceased but probably coming back. If you’ve never heard of Nahkaro you must have heard of Garland. Big war general. Really famous. I can tie at least twenty other great alias’s to Nahkaro as well. He’s pretty smart and evil and whatever. Strong as smelly Tao bla bla bla.

Watch out for his sword, Iza. Really poisonous. A drop will kill if you aren’t Lazarus’ favourite son (*winks at Fen*).

M; known as Matsuyo Octamura to everybody (pretty forthcoming about life); deceased. He will probably be one of those Risen or Fallen or however it is you like to define it. Octamura is a long dead Noble House. Matsuyo was the runt of the last seven Octamura’s to be born. Matsuyo himself was off to war when a faud erupted between his house and another. His whole family were wiped out before he could even make it back. Don’t confuse the man to be troubled. He was probably happy his bullying father and brothers were finally dead. He joined the group at some point. A lone ferrock beat him about fifty-odd years ago in a duel where he promised not to use his Occulis Genkai. Long story short he’s got his sword back now and is not prone to fighting clean any more.

His sword, Suzano, can transform into any metal object including a ring of kunai which he can thrown into the ground to create a giant dome which he can lock you inside with his black fire. The only way to escape is to use his weird eye-teleport thing though, I should say, a big-ass blast of energy might overload the dome. However you might get blown up. Work it out.

T; Taru; Tenzu Himagi; my least favourite creation killed this one but he’ll be back. I actually met this guy once or twice and his work was the basis for Nunamo. A genius in the field of Biology; if he had Brunnex body he could take over the world. Anyway all you need to know is that if big bad Tenzu comes Brunnex would best deal with him.

His sword extends. Don’t know why they bothered. His powers are better than the sword anyhow.

Jason; already risen. The first man to wield Otaru, a very big blade that can reform itself from the iron in it’s victim’s blood, was from a long dead noble family; even longer dead now. Anything he touches he can blow up except the ground; maybe the ground. I’m not sure about the ground but don’t let him touch you is the morale of the story. Don’t let him touch you or cut you. In fact throw spears at him. That might work.

Now this new member A or rather Auron is a bit too new for the likes of my intel but I can tell you his sword is called Tamesaka and it drains magic, and magical attacks, on touch. So throw spears at him too.” Desi paused then for a long moment trying to think what else he knew before finally asking, with a pointed look in Shino’s direction, “Did I miss out anything important, Gutensa?”

The right side of Shino's mouth curled into a small smirk, he shrugged with the shoulder that his sword was leaning on and replied; "Nothing I can't fill in."

"Right...That was...A lot to take him Desi, thank you very much." Sir Tillion said, incredibly pleased that Desi had done some in depth research into the group, but at the same time immensely worried about the reports Desi had given them. Still, it was better to know your enemy was a badass, than to find it out during the battle.

"Okay, Toun, what do we have when we put that altogether, excluding Desi's research for the time being please." Sir Tillion said, watching as Toun began unclasping the heavy leather bound book he had hidden under his robes during the meeting.

When the book was unbound and open at around halfway through Toun began reciting what Sardo knew about the enemy; "There's not much to add to what's been said today, other than a few other reports of Fallen.

We had reported sightings of an archer of extreme skill, after some time in the library I found some talk of a man named Krom who fits the descriptions given to me well. From what I can te-"

"Krom's a nasty bugger, but nothing really to worry about." Achilles butted in, leaning back in his chair in a 'I'm bored' fashion.

"Y-Yes.." Toun carried on; "Well, just close to distance with him and he shouldn't prove too much of a problem, hopefully.

As well as him two ferrocks were reported, believed to be siblings, and both fought with incredible skill. One was reported to have strange ocular abilities, so I suspect him to be the Ferrock mentioned by previously in the meeting, but the other one is not known to me our Sardo's annals.

Shang Tao, it should be noted, was reported to be under the stygian curse, but without his Dragon Bahamut, thank the Gods above. We are almost 100% positive that he is at full strength, and should be engaged with extreme caution, if at all. Although he was not so renowned for his magical ability as the Threllos are, I believe that at the end of his natural life his magical pool bested even my own in size.

Although we all know the power and dangerous Jet is, but I must make sure we all know of his most dangerous technique. The black lightning, seen only once before on any great scale, and that was at the battle of Hull. This spell takes Jet some time to work up, during which he may be a little distracted and thus easier to defeat, but once that time has passed the battle is all but over. For all his power even Strange could not ward off this attack, and the wound created from the blast still scars Sardo to this day. If the signs are pointing towards the black lightning being used, I suggest immediate retreat, it may be the only way to save at least some of our men."

My master merely lacked time at the battle of Hull. Should this Jet attempt the same trick twice, I would not worry. *He said as he reached down to a leather bag which sat beside his chair, and from this he pulled the grimiore, plopping it down onto the table with a thud. He ran his hand over the cover of the book, and spoke again. *

I believe I will have the means to deal with it. While I lack the raw power of this Jet, I still possess the cunning of the living, and have the experiences of someone who very nearly dealt with it.

"I do hope that is the case, my friend." Sir Tillion said with a wary smile, he really did not like that book of Tourivil's one bit, that much was clear.

"Pffft, Jet's a toddler compared to me, I'll slap him across his hiney if he tries anything and send him packing." Balthazaar added in with a slight glee in his tone.

Desi dipped his head when he was mentioned favourably by Sir Tillion. It was about time someone recognised his achievement. It is not easy to spy on the country that more or less put spying on the map.

***

Shilack had known and fought with Desi as allies for a while before death and he had always known his history with Brun. However, truly thinking the man had retired of those ways, he had been seriously surprised when the man had killed Dr. Elijah, went into seclusion and then created Brunnex with the soul purpose of destroying Brun. He had felt a little betrayed and not just for Brun’s sake.

However, he knew Brun had forgiven Desi a long time ago and that was enough to put Shilack’s mind to ease; plus the betraying rat seemed to be suffering for it.

***

It disgusted Brunnex to see his Creator. It was a constant reminder that he wasn’t normal; wasn’t real. He was not the product of two halves but the replication of one whole. He lived his day-to-day life straying from such thoughts of his existence but with Desi right here they shook his very core.

"Right, I think we can draw this meeting to a close, or rather the portion concerning the deduction of our enemy's might, by listening to our man Shino. Please, be as detailed in what you are about to say as possible." Sir Tillion had to turn around in his seat to see Shino fully, as the man remained standing where he had appeared behind Commander Holdak.

Shino nodded somewhat solemnly and began without pause; "You have gathered a surprising amount about my former comrades, more than I had thought you had, of course I had not factored in the appearance of Desi.

To start off it should be noted that the group is not a full time thing, rather each of us was contacted at different times by the boss and given our individual swords and told to wait for his orders. Every hundred or so years, from what I can tell, he would call the group together and they would do some sort of high-scale political assassination of a huge magnitude in another country, or something along those lines, and then they would be disbanded again and told to continue waiting. If any of the group was ever in need of a new body all they had to do was a simple scrying spell, which the boss's wards would block but he would sense the attempt and seek them out to switch their bodies around before they died. Using this method the oldest of the group is Nahkaro, who is indeed over seven hundred years old, the others are all several hundred also, the youngest being Jason who was a mere one hundred and fifty. That is, of course, not including Auron, whom joined after my time.

As you know each of the swords each have incredible powers, and their wielders too have great strength. I can add nothing of great note to your records of the individuals, but I shall do what I can.

Nahkaro has incredible fighting smarts and should be the one most watched out for. Even without his sword Iza he would be an incredibly hard opponent to defeat, the combination of his standard mist technique and his self proclaimed 'silent kill' technique is formidable. In all my years as Nahkaro's partner even I was unable to find a counter to the mist's disorientating effects, as far as I know Fenrir is the first ever to do it.

Matsoyu is a complete psychopath, and he has so many one-hit-kill techniques it's scary. His black fire is inextinguishable by any means other than a great weight, and burns even the air around it meaning that separating it onto a block of stone will do nothing to stop it's spread. He can make himself utterly un-hittable, even to magical attacks, meaning you'll have to look for the point of weakness when he is physical mass to land a strike. As well as that he can turn your mind to mush with a single glance, and should never be met with eye contact. He also has the ability to do many bizarre things with those eyes of his.

Taru was the runt of the group, but he could kill the strongest Sardonian seven ways to Sunday so long as his 'ultimate defense' was erected. I've not got a clue how it works, or how to break it, but luckily Brunnex does so I really suggest that he be the only one to engage Taru one-on-one. He is far stronger than he looks, and a rather talented dagger-fighter. As well as that he has a biological understanding of the human body beyond reasonable mortal ken, he really is the sort of genius born only once a generation.

Then there is Jason, the man who carried Otaru before myself, and does once again. Jason may look, and sound and act, like the nicest person you've ever met, but it's a rouse he's developed over the years. In truth he is a demon incarnate, even by my standards. The things that man has done would make even the mighty Strange's repertoire of hijacks quell in it's booties. In battle he's fast, stronger than any of the others in the group, and brutally effective. As you have noted so diligently he has the unique ability to cause explosions with a simple touch, I would like to add that he need not touch certain items to make them explode, anything he has had the time to pour even a little bit of his own magic into is a bomb waiting to explode. His ability has no weakness, it can't be stopped, and he has honed it to the point where I have seen him blow palaces, and dragons alike to smithereens without batting an eyelid.

Where Jason is concerned I suggest leaving him to me, his little explosions were bested by my technique in the past, and I'm sure I can handle him again.

Now, the boss...What can I say, other than the fact the guy keeps to himself, is immensely powerful when it comes to magic, and likes hanging about with dead people a little too much. When I first joined the group, via killing Jason and taking Otaru for myself, I wasn't much for following the orders some freak in a mask gave me. So challenged him to a fight for the lead role in the group, he scoffed. In fact, he ordered Nahkaro, Matsoyu and Taru to fight by my side and use their full efforts to kill him.

Let's just say the battle was short, and did not end in our favor. He moved so fast that even I struggled to keep up with his movements, and his blade always seemed to find the weaknesses in our blocks. Using his sword alone, no magical aid, he was able to not only disarm, but nearly kill, every one of us. Taru needed a new body after the battle, and the rest of us weren't much better. It was after that day that I began developing my secret technique, and shortly later I left the group entirely.

When it comes to the moment where the boss must be defeated it will take nothing less than our complete strength to kill him. A moment's hesitation or doubt from any of us, and he will slaughter us all. I suggest that Brunnex, Achilles, I take the lead the roles in the battle, acting as meat-shields for the most part whilst throwing out all the damage we can. Brunnex has healing abilities, as well as body morphing abilities, that will hopefully counter the bosses' incredible power enough to make a difference, and my secret technique will hopefully give me the advantage somewhat. Fenrir and Faolin should be on flanking duty, if they can get behind him and box him in then maybe we can end the fight quickly. Toun, Tourivil and as many Threllos as possible should be blasting him to hell with as much magic as you can. If at all possible, Lao, use your sealing technique on him.

If we all play our parts well, then we should be able to handle him for the most part." Shino finished with a grin; "At the very least it will be an exiting end to our stories."

"What do you know of this boss figure's sword? Does it have special abilities like the others?" Sir Tillion asked after a moment of soaking in Shino's speech. The man had added nothing of great note on the others, but his speech about the boss illuminated just how powerful this guy was, and his plan seemed sound enough for the moment.

Shino smirked to himself, raising his chin above the huge collar of his jacket he muttered; "I've got nothing there I'm afraid. He's never had the need to show it's powers around me."

"I sincerely doubt that the leader of a group with swords with grand abilities like shape-changing or absolute poison, would carry around a useless trinket that held as pathetically small time a charm as increasing speed or strength." Achilles scoffed at Jasper's comment, jumping to the conclusion that there was no way the boss's sword was so simple.

"I'm afraid that much is true. Where strength and speed are concerned he is far beyond the point of needing enhancement." Shino said, seeming to ignore Achilles' harsh rejection of Jasper's idea as he answered plainly and calmly.

"It is most unfortunate that we know not our enemy's hidden powers. Perhaps we should make use of clone techniques to ascertain what his sword can do before we fully engage him." Lao suggested sagely. The man had said little in this meeting not on the topic of Jong Jong, mostly because he knew he was an outsider in this country and as such had little to no say about the runnings of it's military. Still, he also knew where his word would be of use, and he wasn't going to hold back anything that might save lives.

*Tourivil tapped his fingers on the cover of that malicious tome as he listened to his fellows, his new allies and comrades.

And somewhere in his mind he hated. He hated them, and himself. Strange would not have tolerated most of these men, this parade of fools. The belligerent little dwarf, that barbarian Ostagar, what would his master have done to them? Tourivil knew, he would have clawed his way into their tiny little minds and tore them apart from the inside, he would have made him beg for death. Tourivil wanted to do this, he wanted to snatch up the grimiore and release horrible magicks the likes of which these men could not imagine. He wanted to channel the energies of the fallen through his hand, and hear the rending of flesh.

And this is why Tourivil hated himself. He knew that he could not do this, he lacked the strength and the power of his master. He was in too deep into the politics of Sardo to go it alone now. That was not what really hurt though. What hurt was knowing that he needed these fools. He needed them to help protect his city and his peoples. He and his assembled men could not fight these resurrected men themselves. He was no slouch, Brunnex was more powerful than he had any right to be, the alpha worm could crush cities, and the little beast, well, it was best not to think about what it could do if it so chose. But Shang Tao? Jet? Tao had been one of Strange's great friends in life, or at least for part of it, and Jet, well, he'd killed strange. Admittedly, his master had not been on his A game then, and if the match was staged again now, it would not even be a contest, but still.

And this brought Tourivil back to that expanding dark place in his mind. The voice asking if Sebath had truly been wrong. Tourivil did not know any more. His eyes, these silver monstrosities, they had made him stronger, they had improved him. Perhaps, just perhaps, that was the right idea? *

"Yes, that would be most wise Lao. I believe Lord Sicarius is skilled in the use of clones, as is Toun, so perhaps those two should act as the first stage fighters so that we learn all we can about the fighting abilities of this 'Boss' before we fully commit to the battle." Sir Tillion was nodding as he spoke, formulating all that was being said into a complete plan for handling this enemy they were facing.

"Indeed that sounds most prudent." Shilack agreed with the old elf happy that things had actually went rather well despite a few blips.

Brunnex wasn't having fun. He didn't want nor need to hear how powerful his foes were. He just needed to quash them in a timely manner. He was by no means a brutish oaf but there was efficient planning and bureaucracy and this was rapidly becoming the latter.

"Does anyone have any other things to say about the leaders, or the Fallen, that we will be facing during this battle? Or may we move on to troop disposal and commandment?" Sir Tillion stood up as he asked this, looking around the table slowly, making sure that there was no one who wanted to say anything before he moved on.

"No." Brunnex stated simply, boldly and clearly. "We do not. Can we please move on?" Brunnex asked ten minutes away from flipping this table and going to town.

"I've got nothing else to add." John replied.

Jasper merely shook his head, and folded his arms.

*Tourivil shook his head, throwing his thoughts, regrets, and doubts in exchange for the worries of the present. Diplomacy weighed heavily on the mind of the tired Blood mage. It wasn't what he wanted to do by any means, but, it was what he was called to do, and that would have to be good enough. *

Yes, let us move on. *He stated simply. *

Rend grunted in approval. He was a man of action and admittedly not the best speaker at the best of times. He had listened intently but there was nothing he could add. The years before this he spent much of his time dealing with small skirmishes deep in the Orkish backwoods, nothing outside this land was ever brought to his attention in the past, nor did he care for it. Now was the time, his ascension from warrior to Lord gave him much responsibility and he answered the call. He came with his army, bloated from 5,000 to 7,500 with some reserves left over. The reserves did not meet Rend's personal approval, they were either too slow or too weak to come, his army was only the best and brightest, only the best for usage by the kingdom.

He mustered his limited speaking skill to bring forth the masterpiece of

"Aye".

The large dark man gave a slight shrug as if to say 'that's it, nothing more'. He turned his attention away from Desi, seeing that everyone wants to move on he couldn't say 'no'. It's time to move on to the next topic.

"Go ahead."
