I tried to invent my own once because DnD is pretty difficult to get into without a wizened DM to explain everything in human. It ended up just as bas as DnD. Failure.

No shit bro.
the video games back then were crappy and so time consuming. Of course there are acceptions but majority of them sucked balls. The worst game I played so far in my childhood is Superman for nintendo64, imagine how angry I was. banged that cartrage with a hammer! good times

lmao, when I first started gaming the best games were text-based (especially the ZOrk series, but most Infocom games) and the best platforms were Apple II series and Commodore 64. Console games.. weren't quite there yet.

yeah, computer was for sissies and we had an elegant group of old school players. Even the zelda or the eye of the begolder were jokes for us. Just having good hours telling our characters' war stories on campfire drinking plenty of beer.
I don't think i'd remember that times thnx guys. Must mail some of them now

You guys want fanfic? Well, start one and I will join it, just be sure to explain how it works at the top so that no one will be uncomfortable in joining, ok?

Well that's a great idea. How about the birth of a Crime family in a fictional/non-fictional city and their various ventures. It might/might not involve TORN city as such, but that's an user's vote Would love to hear what others have to say about this.

That could be really cool though I think if we used a more traditional American city it would make a bit more sense. After all if we started a crime family here we'd probably get chained to death

Perhaps a city where every man and his dog is not running around with assault rifles and chainsaws would be a bit more appropriate, yes.

Yeah, Modern Times would be great. Wouldn't be against Prohibition era either though. How does everyone feel about New York?

Modern threads are quite rare around here, I wouldn't mind seeing one right about now.

A'right then. Let's discuss the premises, hoping people will go for modern times.
New York sounds great for me. Brighton's there, so turf war with the Russians is an added thing. NY's crime rate has been on a decline since the 90's though, so that's a point. Thing is, any respectable Crime family has an extended history and more than often their origin is Non-American (Cosa Nostra, Bratva, Irish mob...etc.) What shall we do? American born-and-broughtup guys, or coming from a remote country and settling down in order to "live the Americanl Dream" ?

Modern thread is fine, though I wouldn't mind doing the 1980's, the birth of crack and all that...

I think an Irish Family would be awesome but you know what I'd like to do. A French Mob. Unique, unexpected and ever so suave.

So, the French Connection was a scheme through which heroin was smuggled from Turkey to France and then to the United States. The main party responsible was the Corsican Mafia, Unione Corse. When it ended, around mid 70s, many clans involved in the trade got disbanded and the UC ceased to be the pinnacle of French organised crime. However, UC isn't fully gone (Since when do ANY crime family does anyway, heh), and they still ply their trade in small gangs.
We can be one such ambitious gang looking to spread out in the States. Arms dealing sounds lucrative, since "everyone's packing" nowadays.

I *want* to RP more....I just don't have access to the forums when I'm not at work, and I can't really get in-depth with my replies while I'm at work. I miss the regular crew, they were more than willing to let me take part. I never felt much of the hostility. I think it was because my posts were (if I may say so) thought out, detailed well, and followed the rules of whatever thread I joined in. I never hijacked or god-modded anything.
(Having been away from RP for something like two years, I'm just gonna set this post here. . .)

If you ever find the free time to get back into things I'm sure I speak for the 'regular crew' when I say that we'll be as helpful as possible and immensely happy for any and all contributions to our small community.
