Fujiko was glad to see that Del had an appetite and smiled while giving Del half of her grilled cheese sandwich. She would order another when the waiter came back around.

She didn't know how to tell her friend, but she had managed to get out of debt completely, and was even $850,000,000 ahead. She, however, hadn't retained the money, but had bet it all on the NASCAR so the bookie had it. If she wins, she will be where she was before the "incident", and it will be as if she had been able to keep the money from the Steelers v Ravens match. If she looses, well, she will still be out of debt.

"Best not to say anything," Fujiko thought to herself as she slowly enjoyed her nice hot soup and sipped her glass of icewater.

Del could see that Fujiko was miles away in her mind but decided not to say anything as she had noticed that Fujiko wasn't touching the two bread rolls that the waiter had just put on their table.

Looking shifty, Del asked Fujiko if she was going to eat the bread.

'Del!! You're certainly hungry today aren't ya?' Fujiko laughed.

'Yeah...and I just really love fresh bread.'

Grabbing one of the rolls, Del didn't even bother to add butter, 'Spoils it imo' she mumbled as she tore the bread into chunks and dipped them in the soup.

'Thanx Fujiko'

'You're welcome Del,' she replied. 'Don't eat the plate now, it'll ruin your teeth'

Delly stopped short of eating the plate, but they both had a good laugh. Pretty soon they found themselves back at the Beggar's Corner, busking for enough money to get by for another day. It didn't matter, money. Money was just a distraction from what was really important in life.

Fujiko wanted to play a song about that, but she couldn't think of one, so she followed DelGirl's lead instead, and played and sang as she usually did.

As if she could read Fujiko's mind, Del decided to use her song writing hobby to good use and improvised a little ditty right there, on the spot.

'I don't need no money, just my sanity
I have my freedom, i can come and go just as I please
I'm not restricted by material things that don't matter
I've had it tough but I'll get my happy ever after
Sooooomedaaaaaay, I'll get it soooooomeday....'

I had quit torn for a year, but came back for fun.
I was Fired from a low paying job, mugged, and left to die multiple times.
when I came back, I was able to upgrade from Level two to 8, but it's been hard on me from their. With constant mugging, I Invested my money in the bank.
A higher level had promised to keep my money in his vault, so I sent it to him.
Then he attacked me and kept my money.
I am mugged Almost everyday, but now have a good faction, and a high paying job, but thats Mugged right out of me.
I now search the city for money.
I have no PI, or any clue what that means.

Fujiko was very thirsty when she awoke. Her head hurt, and her vision was blurry. She hated waking up like this, not knowing what had happened, the night before, or why.

Sometimes things happen when you least expect them. The right thing at the wrong time can be as useless as entirely the wrong thing altogether. Memories, faded for most in the city, but clear enough to one such as her, unusual because she remembered things. She attributed the ability to being a reaction to her near-death experience as a baby, a defence mechanism perhaps. It wasn't like total recall, or photographic memory.. it was.. different. Doctors and physicians teach that human beings cannot remember things that occur prior to a certain age of development, and yet, certain of those things she could remember clearly.

It was as if her unconscious somehow ranked things as to importance, filed them away, and brought them to the surface, usually at times which were seemingly random. This was just such an occasion. She remembered something she had read, something from the mayor of Torn City.

While it was still fresh in her mind, she wrote a short letter, doing something that, to her knowledge, nobody else had yet done. If they had done it, this would not be apparent by the state of the city, with the poor becoming more desperate, the rich getting richer, and accusations, not entirely proven, but with strong circumstantial causes for concern.

The letter was as follows:

Sent from Fujiko Reminder of your business plan 2011-03-14 - 5:14:12 AM

Dear Mayor Chedburn,

You told us in the forums once that anyone who reminds you of it would be appreciated.

I miss the way things were, how profile signatures allowed autoplay flash because they were not enabled by default, and I never used 3rd party programs like GreaseMonkey to gain an advantage over other players. I tend to go on too much, so I wont list all of them, unless you really want me to.

So, have you really forgotten, were you just testing us, or was it just a marketing ploy, as so many players seem to believe? I do think that the game in its simplicity of years past, is better than what it has become, giving the appearance that your business plan had been strayed from, hence this friendly reminder.

Your friend,

Fujiko

It had been only a couple days, but she had received no reply.

She wondered if the mayor even read it.

She wondered if his statements had been truthful, but were no longer, or perhaps if something had changed, or maybe the majority of people, with their sludge coloured glasses had been right all along, and those things were just political propaganda, made to encourage donations.

Fujiko had no way of knowing, nor could she see any way to find out.

Del looked up at the sky, she had wondered off on her own for the day and she could sense Spring coming.

Everyone in the city seemed to be panicking after breaking news about the stock market. The crash from earlier in the month ahd sent some to extreme lengths. Crimes had gone up, prisons were full and the police had given up.

Twice that week, somebody had tried to steal her guitar but it was her karate classes as a kid that stopped her losing her trusted guitar.

Soon there'd be little lambs and chicks around but with the population of Beggars Corner seemingly growing larger by the day, this wasn't a fresh start. Things were always going to be like this, this was life.

The city seemed as corrupt as any other, perhaps even more so, where officials could justify someone else's crimes as an excuse to welch on bets and place citizens who had broken no law into debts which would rival some small countries.

Throughout his term, Mayor Chedburn had outlined a long-term plan for the city, and almost none of it had actually come to be. It seemed as if, like most politicians, he had said those things soley to keep the campaign donations coming in. It was all about money, greed, and graft.

To a lone beggar, the city and its problems seemed overwhelming. What can you do, besides speak your mind and have nobody listen, or else to remain silent as the status quo fades into something even less desirable?

Breaks out the harmonica

Fearless walked through the streets of Torn, dreading the day. He was, in every sense of the word, miserable. Reason being? He was 30,000,000 in the whole, coming from that good for nothing Casino. The Bookie... Oh that damn Bookie got him good.

Fearless was so confident when he was going in to bet on Miami Heat defeating that second rate Dallas team. But of course, Miami let him down. At first, he said it was okay. They still had a fighting chance.. But within the last ten minutes, he knew his money was lost.

He ran through the city to the Bookie, trying with all his might to get his money back. That was pointless though. He knew he couldn't get his money back. The Bookie was a businessman, afterall.

The worst part though? He was going to use the money he thought he was going to win, to buy his spouse whatever she wanted. And why not? Tomorrow, was their 50th day anniversary. The thought of that caused him to kick a rock he spotted sending it flying away from him, and fortunately nobody else was in the rocks path. He'd hate to start a fight for such an accident now.

He spotted a man with a guitar and immediately decided he liked the souns he was hearing. He walked over and stood next to the man, and a rather attractive woman (who he stared at for longer than he intended) next to him. He, of course, had no money to give. All he had for himself was a sign that read 'Will work for money.' He knew it was cliché and overdone, but it fit perfectly with his... Situation.

He smiled as people walked by. No takers yet, but he had to stay posotive.

Fujiko noticed the newcomer and welcomed him. More people were coming every day. The city was getting worse. More and more people were leaving, and some only stayed because they had to, because they were destitute.

"Hello, my name is Fujiko, and I've lost everything betting on Chelsea. What's your story?"

Fearless turned his attention to the woman once more and smiled lightly. It put him at ease, just a little, knowing he was not alone. "My nickname is Fearless, but feel free to call me Devin." He said, smiling just a bit wider.

"My story is pretty close to yours, I just bet on Miami heat to beat the Dallas Mavericks." He informed her, shaking his head at his own misfortune as well as hers. "Basketball. Worst 30 million I ever spent. Anyway, how much did you lose? " He questioned.

He hoped for her sake it wasn't as much as he lost, but he was neveer really rich to begin with. She probably had plenty more money than he did.

"Anything is possible, we just can't let it get us down!" Fujiko told her new friend before starting to play another song. Before she started singing, she told him, "I've found that busking is usually more effective than simple begging. Wipe their windows, shine their shoes, or play them a song. It helps make them feel like giving if you do something for them, rather than just putting out your cup and offering a sotry of bad luck and hard times."

Devin nodded. "I completely agree," He stated. He just had to find something he could do for people who were able to help. Something that would stand out and work quickly. Well, he hoped he would be back on his feet quickly. He didn't expect to be though.

He smiled lightly at Fujiko's song. It was uplifting to say the least. Ot maybe it was just the company. Either way, he was a bit happier.

Fujiko dropped a few dollars into the cup of the newcomer. She almost always made more than she needed, and in a society of beggars it is important not to exclude anyone if it can be at all helped. There were places to sleep, places to eat. Sometimes things got bad enough to eat out of the bin behind McDonalds, but Fujiko hadn't been that hungry for a long time.

By Fujiko [341315]
Authority: http://www.torn.com/#/forums.php?forumID=17&ID=10606781&start=0

I found it unnerving that in a town with thousands and thousands of people, there would be no avenue for the common begger. Every town has them. Why should Torn be any different? It is just inconceivable that a city of this size would have no beggers!

To that end, I have acquired permission from none other than Sweeney_Todd to post a beggers role play right here in the RP forum. As such, this should be considered a beginner's Role Play and will have clearly defined rules. Those rules are of the Original Post, and of the forums themselves. Therefore, as I have respected your threads, I shall ask the same courtesy in return.

Do not troll this thread, nor post in any way which would tend to deviate from the required elements of successful participation.

Any trolling of this thread will be immediately reported, and without hesiatation. If you do not understand how to role-play a beggar, read other begs until you do.

You may PM me your reasonable questions about this thread before posting in it.

However, you may instead wish to mail Sweeney_Todd your questions, optionally using the subject header "I has a caek is bttr den pie" to ensure a prompt and courteous reply. This would be recommended in the event you are unsure of my ability to Role Play a filthy begger.

Required Elements of Successful Participation:

- You must beg (being filthy is optional). In every post, you must beg. You may talk about how you had half an orange for breakfast as you were walking up to the Begger's Corner but each post must include begging before the post is submitted

- You may beg people not to hosp you, to hosp you, to bounty you, to donate to you, or even to give you a Pi while posting in this thread, however, you are not to mail anyone posting in the thread, nor as a result of viewing it. All begging, statements, or descriptions should be primarily of your begger, who you may or may not wish to name

- You may describe your attire, so long as you do not deviate from the PG-13 guidelines which I have posted for your convenience in the Role-Play General Discussion thread, found elsewhere in the Role-Play forum. You may not describe anything in a sexually-explicit manner, and, for the purpose of begging or posting in this thread at all, nudity will not be allowed for any reason

- You may describe your body, with the same cautionary restriction against body parts being used for anything in any manner sexually suggestive, erotic or pornographic

- You may have a monkey, and play an organ-grinder, provided you have at least one monkey plushie in your display. Obviously, if you do not have a display, you are not eligible for an organ-grinder under this provision, nor a monkey. No items, nor donator status, nor use of a display, nor any other requirement excepting login shall be made which would disallow a begger from using a cup, hat or collection plate.

- Prostitution and Cyber will not be tolerated, so don't even consider violationg rules that apply to the entire site here. You will be immediately reported, and hopefully banned for violating this rule.

- You may not beg for any money or item with the intention of obtaining them with respect to Torn City, or in real life

- You must not impersonate any Staff member or other player.

- Any discussion of this thread should be presented in Role Play General Discussion unless it can be presented here in the form of begging, which is strongly discouraged, as this would tend do be distracting

- Do not flood. Do not Double post. Wait and let someone else post theirs before posting again.

- My first post will be an example of a post that would be acceptable under my guidelines. You may use different characters, but not in the same post. Take turns, and do not post again until someone else has had a chance.

- All donations sent, by players or by trade shall be considered random gifts or donations and not having been conditional upon participation on this thread, This means if you send a begger something, do not post what you sent here. You are a begger. You must beg.

- If you do not wish to participate, please simply do not reply. There are plenty of other crappy threads if you don't like mine
.
- Have fun!

"Please help me," Timmy cried to all of the strangers walking past him in the streets. No one paid him much mind, but one old lady finally stopped to ask him a question.

"Little boy what do you need help with?" she said.

"My Magic 8-Ball is broken!" Timmy wailed. "All it keeps saying is that more will be revealed later. Please, I beg of you to help me fix it!"

With a snarl the old woman kicked the filthy little boy and continued on her way.

A tall and slender woman walks down the street looking frustrated at herself. Her dark blue eyes scanning over the streets filled with other desperate beggars. Her pride almost keeping her from uttering the words that needed to be expressed.

"I've just entered into the city and need some armor."

She opened up her jacket to display her lack of protection, hoping that this knowledge would not bring any unwanted attacks and attention to herself. Her thin fingers promptly buttoned up her jacket again before bending her head forward to watch the other beggars.

He said i have a price to pay to get off the bounties which i could only dream of having, a price of 150 million he has asked, so if anyone is kind enough to give me something, then will be gratefully accepted as im having real severe struggle playing this game and i thought i was gonna give up at one point, but these bounties have dragged on for too long and all i want to do is play the game, only get in hospital from war or other reasons but 1000's has killed it for me, barley can train attack or anything, stuck to forums, which isn't a bad thing, but people who have a heart, please give something to me so i can pay it off?? :/

From the darkness of the shadows surrounding this last refuge of the unfortunate and desperate souls, the downtrodden of society, the broken, those on there very last spare reserves of hope, came Fujiko to answer the cries of this wanderer.

She wore, as she had for the past several months, a full leather bodysuit. This is typical for an animé character.

Fujiko laughed, a friendly sort of laugh, and replied to the man thus:

You are acting weak, as one of the greatest friends I have met in this game, met a far worse circumstance with a winning strong response.

Imagine being bountied by several major factions, and the entirety of the forums and the chat boxes, and probably everyone in IRC. It lasted for weeks. And an amazing thing happened.

Random people sent her morphs, without her even asking because they saw she was in there constantly. But, she stayed in the hosp and didn't use them. No, she sold them and invested the money. Because, everyone wanted her hosped, so she didn't get mugged very much.

So, you can turn a negative into a positive if you just react to every situation in a calm and rational way. And that's all you can have from me on this cold winter day. No money for you, and as she turned away, she motioned him to an inviting door, at the other side of which was a dancing bear, with a bowl of warm stew, some fresh bread, and a pint of stout, and who could want anything more?

Of course, he did, and Fujiko said that the drinks would be on the house all night long. Fujiko regret that she couldn't stay. This disappointed the ursine barkeep, who had just queued up a song by Rick Astley, thinking it to be her favourite. So, on her way out, she kicked the jukebox, and as she took her last few steps out the door, the voice of Charlie Daniels could be heard throughout this, the heart of the city.

Thread Complete! Congratulations! We have unlocked this special bonus video! Enjoy!

This disappointed the ursine barkeep, who had just queued up a song by Rick Astley repeatedly, thinking it to be her favourite. So, on her way out, she kicked the jukebox, and as she took her last few steps out the door, the voice of Charlie Daniels could be heard throughout this, the heart of the city.

Thread Complete! Congratulations! We have unlocked this special bonus video! Enjoy!

As for me, I regret that I can't rp now because I can't have a set time to devote to it. As for the thread, as long as people enjoy it, let it be. Otherwise, it is truly finished. If the thread remains useful because people use it to practise their writing and RP skills, then may it serve them well. Otherwise, please let it die with dignity. Fujiko may never return to the city, or its Beggar's Corner. But you don't need me to continue to practise your RP skills. You can make a post anywhere and I'm confident that someone will assist you until you improve, and even thereafter. So, give it a go, make a character and have fun with it. You can name your character anything you want, within the site limits, of course. You can even name her Fujiko. But, she won't be me! Have fun! *waves goodbye*
