I have a USB which I use to store college work etc on and it has recently broken it now shows no space and when I try to enter it says " This request could not be completed because of an I/O device error".

Items on it are lost and this I can accept but how do I get my USB drive back to its 8GB size and empty I can't fromat it or anything.

Thanks for help,

KENDI

Format the drive. It might help.

Use this to format it.

The "I/O device error" message usually means the drive/disk/CD/DVD is completely borked & beyond saving.

You may end up just having to buy a new one (which would probably be the best idea anyways if you're storing important data, given that it has already failed once).

I've had one for 5 years and, and can honestly trust it not to do anything illegal.
Now, floppy disks...those bastards are into all kinds of freaky shit.

I don't know, I find it quite enjoyable sticking a floppy in. It's nice to change things up every now and again.
