A "family friendly" filter is going to be forced upon everyone in the UK automatically unless people specifically opt out. I'm all for stopping children etc watching horrific videos, but it should be their parents responsibility and the solution is not censorship for all.

I expect emigration will be rampant.

It won't even impact the sick f***s preying on Children, unfortunately. The police group responsible for tracking and finding the pieces of sh*t pointed out that the energy and money would be better spent on the organizations that are actively pursuing the criminals as opposed to introducing (likely easily bypassable) parental filters.

People that pray on children should get a long drop from a short rope, imho, and the money would be better spent on the relevant law enforcement than some kind of filter that will have virtually no affect whatsoever (aside from introducing internet filtration by the state, which of course, is easily amended to include other criteria once in place).

And then what happens when they decide to add extra filters for things they don't like :/

I hear China is nice this time of year.

Also the people from Myanmar that are allowed limited access to the internet swear on their lives that they have the best government in the world.

As long as you're prepared not to have any fun, whatsoever. Absolute sh*thole. The only benefit was the seafront apartmenr, being chauffeur driven everywhere, and absolutely stunning hot and cold Russian hookers on tap in the hotel bar.

They get bored once they find out you're not going to throw any money at them, though.

I'm actually shocked by this, politicians got pressured by a bunch of random people instead of a multinational corporation! They have reached a new low, now they aren't bribed they are just told what to do by random people.

Bingo. Appeals directly to the Daily Mail faithful, who love a bit of scaremongering, but who have no idea that what Big Dave said was 100% complete, unadulterated crap.

Disregarding the impossibility of his propositions, I find it rather disturbing that:
1) He implies that regular pornography is a slippery slope to illegal activity, broken homes and ruined childhoods. Unsubstantiated, and spurious, as best.
2) His government wish to regulate perfectly legal activity on the web and essentially perform the country's parental duties for them. So much for 'small government!'

The trouble, of course, is that anybody who speaks out against his rather idiotic speech (whether regarding his apparent lack of knowledge of how computers work, or disagreeing with his sentiments) risks being stigmatised as a sexual deviant by the afore mentioned newspaper.

Want to stop your children from watching porn? It's called 'parenting'.

Blocking and restricting internet access is also a slippery slope to a police state. What a bunch of clowns over there in the UK.

In all fairness this is really only making the news because there's pretty much f**k all happening at the moment, so they're reporting everything.

on my personal computer? nothing i'd be ashamed to hide ... although i do admit i've been called a perv before and i once broke up with a girlfriend due to "irreconcilable sexual differences".. but hey, some people are just more prudish than others

however that's not what i meant at all ...
i just don't like the "we are going to do this for everyone and if you don't want it then you have to say so" (the opt out method) ... if i wanted it in the first place i'd have taken care of it already (i did that to my kids pc a few years ago)...

however its good that it can be obtained freely so that people that want it and are too dumb to do it themselves can ask for it (the opt-in method)

on my personal computer? nothing i'd be ashamed to hide ... although i do admit i've been called a perv before and i once broke up with a girlfriend due to "irreconcilable sexual differences".. but hey, some people are just more prudish than others

however that's not what i meant at all ...
i just don't like the "we are going to do this for everyone and if you don't want it then you have to say so" (the opt out method) ... if i wanted it in the first place i'd have taken care of it already (i did that to my kids pc a few years ago)...

however its good that it can be obtained freely so that people that want it and are too dumb to do it themselves can ask for it (the opt-in method)

then go out there get ppl to help you to stop them from doing that but if you dont do that dont cry about it or go to the usa and look at all the porn you like JSnows .
