I agree with you.

Police always get a hard time during/post riot situations but like you, I congratulate your police on their restraint.

A lot of police forces are manned by hillbilly hicks. Whenever a riot situation occurs the hillbilly hicks have 'fun'

It is one of the many perks of the job.

Your link didn';t work, but i found a related video were the pigs were tear gasing, beating & shooting people with rubber bullets, Because they were protesting higher bus fares. :;;s If infact thats the case, its pretty f**ked up. Thank heavens for modern technology & Youtube were things like this aren';t easily masked by the media.

I';ve always wanted to visit Brazil. Particularily, Sao Paolo & Rio. Gotta be honest though, after seeing that & a few episodes of Locked up abroad, I';m kinda having a change of heart.

I wish i could offer ya some words of encouragement, But we as mere people are pretty powerless against a tyranical government. Unless of course ya wanna take up arms & fight back, In which we all know the end result there will be pretty catastrophic.

Prayers go out to you & yours bub, wish ya nothing but the best.

edit. fix your damn forums Ched.

it's funny because Brazil claims to have some sort of higher level of civilization when compared to the former rulers.

Shouldnt trust everything its posted on the internet.

The police was throwing tear gas and hitting people because 2 days before they destroyed many buildings in the city and almost killed a police officer, if the people were protesting in a pacific way the police wouldnt do anything.

Few hours ago withouth the police presence they tryed to invade the city hall and burned the press vehicle.

Short sighted people upset with the spending related to the infrastructure upgrades related for the 2014 World Cup. Same happens with every Olympics. Nothing new here, just stupid humans being their normal selfish greedy selves.

If they did this while the world cup was on, I'd be interested.

Though only because it might stop some of the tedious football matches, and replace it with glorious Riot-Vision.

Yes. I would normally call people out for their ignorance but in this case the wool has been pulled over our eyes by the Brazilian gov. and possibly even FIFA; who don't want any bad pres about the world cup.

Except with the London Olympics it was a squeeze to get the money for it but our schools and hospitals we're running at the same quality as before the Olympics. The Brazilian gov. is allowing these vital services to be cut so they can invite a large group of over paid men to kick a ball across some finely cared for grass. People complaining about the London Olympics were well within their right although I can understand the people on the other side of the argument, however in this case, their government is putting their reputation above the welfare of their people.

It's depressing because if you search for "Brazil" on any major news website all the top 5 results won't mention the riots or protests but instead focus on the football.

It's a disgrace that they're doing this but it's even worse that they're are trying to conceal it.

It is funny how things like world cup and the Olympics are sold as things that will help not just the people around the stadiums but whole country, which is bollocks..its just another event like a music concert that might inspire one or two folks pick up a guitar but is it worth 20 odd billion+...Its the committees behind them making all the cash.

I'm not sure about the development of other areas of the country, but the Olympics has had a major effect on grass roots Rugby. Just the other day our club got a 500 grant from Natwest, as part of a nation wide attempt to redecorate rugby clubs. There's also grants that come up worth 30,000, which the RFU used to do occasionally but corporations are now starting to invest in local level sports aswell, so they're much more common.

It's a a pretty smart investment if you ask me. You get people interested in playing sports, you grant local clubs money to improve their club so they attract more people, you can tax the clubs which are bringing in more money due to increased interest, alot of clubs have their own bar, and drink is massively taxed. Having that Nationwide will generate a sh*t load of money, then you factor in every other sport and it's even more. Plus 10-20 years down the line you're gonna have some new shithot athletes.
