Science says ghost are not real and they are just a byproduct of your brain experiencing fear and sparkle of cells.

But meh. I'd trust both my heart and brain anyway.

If we are talking about ghosts in the traditional sense, a visible, audible entity that is the spirit of the dead and can pass through objects, (;the kind you see on those god awful ghost hunting shows);then no, For various reasons
1:; If they are able to pass through objects then how could could it be possible for them to knock objects off of tables or move them around e.c.t

2:; Sound is created by vibrations. Now, if a ghost was to talk, they would need something to casue these vibrations.. In all living things its vocal cords.. Now, not having a physical body would mean there are no vocal cords, making speech an impossibly

3:; Everything we see is either energy or matter. A rainbow which has no physical entity is light, and as everyone who payed attention during science lessons would know, light is energy. Now for a physical shape to form, this light energy would have to be shaped. Nothing in nature shapes light, all anything can do is separate the spectrum, and reflect the light.. Now assuming the light could be shaped in some sense, the physical aspects of the ghost, facial features, arms, legs e.c.t would have to continue until there's something stopping it... (;as light travels until its reflected or absorbed by a surface); meaning the physical shape would be recognisable

Ghosts in the traditional "ooga booga woooooooo" sense, no.

I do believe that there is some kind of negative energy that can affect stuff though. I won't go so far as to say demons, but along those lines. I think to try and put a face on the energy as demonologists do would be making assumptions and rationalisations that I have no right or even reason to make.

Your heart doesn't think, it pumps blood around your body. Your brain controls all of your emotions.

OT:; I don't believe in ghosts. Some people I really respect do though, so I don't think it's reserved for any type of people, I just see no cause to believe in them since nothing spooky has ever happened to me.

there are many things in this world that cannot be explained just yet and until you';ve had an encounter with the paranormal to where you can';t explain it then you';re just someone who will try to apply science and reasoning to it.

One of my favorite stories is when I went with my family to this old hotel that used to be a hospital during the US Civil War and later on was a hospital for some disease that was rampant in the area years ago so many people died in this building. Well we took pictures of everyone in the family all over the hotel yet in every picture with just me in it there was tons of misty smoke and light orbs moving around yet none of that showed up in the other images with anyone else. Strangest thing was I would hear some voices yet none of my family would hear them even though they were standing almost should to shoulder beside me. After that trip I had trouble sleeping for a week. Another strange thing is that we could all smell cigar smoke yet there was no smoking allowed in the hotel and no one was even smoking the whole time we were there.

The smoke and orbs could have been caused by the light and dust.. with more people in the picture the lights getting reflected in colour form more, When its just you theres less meaning the lights getting dispersed around the room more, and reflecting of the dust.

As for the voices im going to say it was all in your head. Im not saying you have a mental issue, simply you wanted to hear things, and as a result of this your mind did it. I quite often hear things that are not there, or that others cant hear. I swear to god I have even heard a radio broadcast before when no radio was on.

Again with the smoking, you knew the past of the building and as a result your mind fabricated it.

If you dont mind me asking, how old was you at the time this happened?

But meh. I'%;;%;;%;;d trust both my heart and brain anyway.

Your heart doesn't think, it pumps blood around your body. Your brain controls all of your emotions.

Riddle me this:; there are medical cases where after receiving heart transplant, the recipient's behaviour change to, mostly, following certain traits, memories, and personalities of the donor.

Most recent studies can be referenced to Inspector (;2004);, stating:; "All instruments indicated high levels of stress even several years after the transplant, but, simultaneously, 73%; of recipients felt that acquiring a new heart had had a dramatic influence on their lives with a new appreciation of the preciousness of life and a shift of priorities, toward altruism and spirituality. Sixty percent returned to work after the transplant but some had to adapt to a changed attitude from those around them who regarded them as anything from mystical creatures to vulnerable or still-sick individuals. While all recipients possessed a scientific knowledge of the anatomy and physiological significance of the heart (;as revealed in the HIQ);, many endorsed fantasies and displayed magical thinking:; 46%; of the recipients had fantasies about the donor's physical vigor and prowess, 40%; expressed some guilt regarding the death of the donor, 34%; entertained the possibility of acquiring qualities of the donor via the new heart." (;read:; Inspector, Y. et al. (;2004); Another Person's Heart:; Magical and Rational Thinking in the Psychological Adaptation to Heart Transplantation. The Israel Journal of Psychiatry and Related Sciences 41:; 161-73.);

Another famous case would be the famous Claire Sylvia, an American woman who developed new love for chicken nuggets, green peppers and beer right after her donor's behavior. Other famous cases include William Sheridan.

Scientific explanations for this unscientific phenomenon where brains are supposedly hold all memories and control of emotions, like you claim Cathead, may be due to Neuropeptide theory and Magnetic field theory. Other non-scientific explanations in scientific language would be Psychometry theory and Unprepared spirit theory.

Additionally, Chinese people in the past has a similar urban legend. Once upon a time, there's a 4th time failures scholar who pray to a judge of hell deity. In short, this deity gave the scholar a new heart and he become like Einstein of that era.

However all findings, from past to present, indicates that 'memories' that define human are not necessarily stored only in brain. Some case happens in reverse in fact, where heart control brain. Therefore, it isn't far-fetched our heart in actual may control our behaviour despite the fact our brain pumped it those emotions chemical.

Don't believe it? Then need to add a heart after that head, Cathead.

50/50. I hear some creepy and convincing stories and then one may explain these 'ghosts'. My grandmas friend saw her neighbour sweeping in the middle of the night.. The next day she asked the man if he was sweeping during the night but he wasn't. My grandma reckons it was a hologram of him because he was sweeping during the day previously.

Yeah when you are half asleep and half awake you hillusinate. You get night terrors in tthat phase and your body hasn't awoke so your muscles can't move.

Haven't had that yet. Hope no one wakes me up during my deep sleep tonight.

Think what you want but we went back to that hotel and staff said other guests have had the same issue with their pictures and generally having the same experience.

Me and other people I know have had other encounters including my brother who had one incident that for some reason he gets very angry and nervous and only recently did he tell me vaguely about it being some black silhouette in his doorway when he was the only one home at the time.

Yeah, I';ve been reading up about that a little now. It';s confusing, I don';t really know what to believe. It sounds like bollocks to me (;;at first glance);; and I don';t think they';ve actually proven anything concretely (;;after reading more);;. But having said that, some of the stories about cellular memory are amazing and some who have studied it shouldn';t be as vulnerable to believing mumbojumbo as you or I (;;unless you';re a specialist medical professional);;. I';ll keep an eye open for more stories about this and wait for a few more facts before I believe it completely.

Cheers for pointing it out to me.

Although, I still want to point out, that certain changes are to be expected if you nearly die and take a vital organ of someone else's into your body. Of course you'll be grateful for life, of course you'll want to help people in the way you've been helped.

I dont believ in ghosts but theres that tiny voice in my head telling me that it might just be real and that is what freaks me out, not the part where i know these things exist, but the part if they DO exist or not.

Science says ghost are not real and they are just a byproduct of your brain experiencing fear and sparkle of cells.

But meh. I';%;;;%;;;%;;;d trust both my heart and brain anyway.

Your heart doesn';t think, it pumps blood around your body. Your brain controls all of your emotions.

Riddle me this:;; there are medical cases where after receiving heart transplant, the recipient';s behaviour change to, mostly, following certain traits, memories, and personalities of the donor.

Most recent studies can be referenced to Inspector (;;2004);;, stating:;; ";All instruments indicated high levels of stress even several years after the transplant, but, simultaneously, 73%;; of recipients felt that acquiring a new heart had had a dramatic influence on their lives with a new appreciation of the preciousness of life and a shift of priorities, toward altruism and spirituality. Sixty percent returned to work after the transplant but some had to adapt to a changed attitude from those around them who regarded them as anything from mystical creatures to vulnerable or still-sick individuals. While all recipients possessed a scientific knowledge of the anatomy and physiological significance of the heart (;;as revealed in the HIQ);;, many endorsed fantasies and displayed magical thinking:;; 46%;; of the recipients had fantasies about the donor';s physical vigor and prowess, 40%;; expressed some guilt regarding the death of the donor, 34%;; entertained the possibility of acquiring qualities of the donor via the new heart."; (;;read:;; Inspector, Y. et al. (;;2004);; Another Person';s Heart:;; Magical and Rational Thinking in the Psychological Adaptation to Heart Transplantation. The Israel Journal of Psychiatry and Related Sciences 41:;; 161-73.);;

Another famous case would be the famous Claire Sylvia, an American woman who developed new love for chicken nuggets, green peppers and beer right after her donor';s behavior.

Once upon a time, there';s a 4th time failures scholar who pray to a judge of hell deity. In short, this deity gave the scholar a new heart and he become like Einstein of that era.

However all findings, from past to present, indicates that ';memories'; that define human are not necessarily stored only in brain. Some case happens in reverse in fact, where heart control brain. Therefore, it isn';t far-fetched our heart in actual may control our behaviour despite the fact our brain pumped it those emotions chemical.

Don';t believe it? Then need to add a heart after that head, Cathead.

I suppose it's not unreasonable to bring acknowledged urban legend into the conversation as if it is factual evidence to back up your point. It is, after all, a thread about ghosts.

Many many things are in your head. Having a heart transplant is a traumatic experience.

Personally speaking I'm not sure. However my brothers have had some weird "Encounters". One of them was in our converted attic playing the drums, when he said that he was hit by a drum stick (;He was the only person up there at the time);. Initially I thought he was bullshiting, however he now refuses to go up there on his own and has even taken his drum kit out of the attic and placed it downstairs in the living room (;Which sucks when you're trying to watch TV);.

My other brother also kept insisting that there was something moving under his cabin bed at night, but to be honest it was probably his mind playing tricks on him. That or Bueno came over uninvited..

Who knows, I haven't heard or experienced anything weird myself. Yet.
