i have a manual and two automatics. i prefer the automatics by far. im not racing to the store or work so the extra performance doesnt matter. the gas milage is better in the manual, but its such a pain in the ass compared to a automatic.

to me its like choosing to walk to your TV to change the channel instead of using the remote.

I had a 20yo car that was running 41 miles per gallon (diesel). can you beat that?

Yes, I always pay extra to get the manual.

so to get less technology you have to pay extra ? i find that funny

what's even funnier is that here you pay extra for an automatic but your resale value drops faster because its harder to find anyone that will want to buy it

Love manuals. A blast to drive. So much easier to control your performance and mpg.

I drive a mk3 jetta

And for those that say its "hard" I have this theory, this girl I know can drive a manual and she is the most idiotic person on the planet both "street" wise and book wise. I would consider her a waste of space, she probably wouldn't even know how to turn a wrench in any direction, but she can drive a manual car. If she can, ANYBODY can.

In Australia a manual car has a gearbox and an automatic car has a transmission.

When buying a new car an automatic is always more expensive

I remember when I was learning to drive in the UK 20 years ago, it was a threat from driving instructors that 'You might only get a license to drive an automatic'

Weird how countries differ.

Don't really understand the whole driving in traffic 'being difficult' thing with a manual though, I and the driving population of Uk and Ireland don't seem to have a problem.

It was the same in Australia when I was learning to drive 15 years ago.... (Probably still is). If you did your driving test in an Automatic it was specified on your licence that you could only drive Automatic vehicles, hence why I learnt, was tested in and have mainly owned/driven manual vehicles

nothing but a manual transmission for offroad :;0

Nothing but a manual for off road? Take it you've never had the joy of matching winch speeds with wheel speeds on muddy terrain. Auto all the way for off road.
