doesn't look like a war to me.

I live close enough to Oakland to be there via public transit in under an hour.

I would not criticise anyone who states their fear or mistrust of the Oakland Police.

Take it from someone who grew up in Ireland; there will be people looking to harm others regardless of where you are. It's human nature unfortunately. -_-

The "war" has as much to do with Oakland cutting their police force so they can subsidize the Raiders as anything.

This super cop likes 'stop and search' tactics which the libtards consider rights infringement and would lead to racial profiling. How in the F is it rights infringement if the gangsters are already profiled (by their own actions) and then kept honest by police pressure?

It is rights infringement and does lead to racial profiling, its pretty much a fact. It is a huge problem in New York.

Funny how "conservtards" will throw a hissy fit about their gun rights but other rights are apparently negotiable.

Own whatever gun you want under the 2nd amendment, not flexible. Unreasonable search and seizure under the 4th amendment, flexible.

Two completely different things.
1. "Shall not be infringed"

2. "Unreasonable"

Which one seems open to interpretation?

You conveniently leave out the part where they talk about the militia which is completely open to interpretation and has been for two centuries. The definition of "arms" and whether the right to personally have a gun also means you can have whatever the hell gun you feel like without any regulations or laws governing them, is also completely open to interpretation.

The people who think gun rights and gun laws are mutually exclusive concepts are ridiculous and irrational. If they actually learned about gun regulations put in place by George Washington himself and the gun laws in most "wild west" towns, their head might explode.

By the way, its funny how you have no problem defining reasonable in a way that blatantly infringes people's rights but want to completely ignore the way the 2nd amendment was interpreted for 200 years by the supreme court and the historical context of when it was written.

How about originally you were only allowed to own a gun if you were a free white man and pledged loyalty to the revolution, and in the 1792 militia act created by George Washington mandated that every male of eligible age join the militia and buy a gun which had to be registered in public record, inspected on a regular basis, it could be taken away at any time if they decided that you didnt deserve it, and they could fine you if it wasnt in working order when they inspected it.

So what you are saying is that the government required its able bodied citizens to be armed with weapons in proper condition, and being a conscripted member of the militia, if you didn't they would court martial you thus relieving you of your firearm.

What I am saying is there has been laws that have said who can and who cant have a gun and restrictions and rules about them since the beginning of the country because the founding fathers didnt create the 2nd amendment as a free-for-all to have whatever weapon you want whenever you want it as you apparently seem to think.

That was intended strictly for militia when they were trying to organize the militias. Has nothing to do with regular civilians. It all boils down to neither you nor I know exactly what the founding fathers intended. All we can do is continue to have conversations and come up with something that everyone can agree on.

No .. the Uniform Militia Act applied to every White male between the age of 18 and 45. You were to buy and maintain the highest quality assault rifle available. There was a consciencious objector clause too... so you didn't necessarily have to ... but everyone did anyway. Which was great for rifle sales (and people who helped write the act)

Could you imagine trying to pass legislation requiring every White Male in america between the ages of 18-45 to buy an AR-15? the gun lobby just ain't what it used to be

ima go shoppin!

If they would have never converted the militia to the National guard we wouldn't be having this conversation. The second amendment was created before the militia was transformed into the national guard. One would "assume" the second amendment was created for the "common man". Like I said, we can argue this back and forth all day long. We will never agree.

The militia is the National guard, that is why every state has one. Giving it a name doesnt mean it "converted" into anything.

Yours, for under $600

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1682938109/robo-3d-printer

now .. the techshop.. a bike ride away from where I live has a couple but their membership is expensive as hell so I wouldn't buy one unless I absolutely had to.

problem is that techshop folk will freak out if someone went in trying to print out a high capacity magazine... given the supervisory nature of their organization.

noisebridge, however, will be getting one of these fancy things that is capable of printing out metal-like materials that after curing under uv light can withstand extreme stress and temperature.

I'm sure if you did a marathon at noisebridge... eventually you would get an opportunity.

the comment was more to demonstrate the absurdity of gun control.

Regulation vs. Technology
