P.s.Stray gun fire from the 'criminal types'..how does a gun help that, when there in your street, firing willy nilly with dodgy guns pass and in to ppls houses.
"So how about a country that actually bans guns?
Since 2003, Brazil has come close to fitting that description. Only police, people in high-risk professions and those who can prove their lives are threatened are eligible to receive gun permits. Anyone caught carrying a weapon without a permit faces up to four years on prison.
But Brazil also tops the global list for gun murders.
According to a 2011 study by the U.N. Office on Drugs and Crime, 34,678 people were murdered by firearms in Brazil in 2008, compared to 34,147 in 2007. The numbers for both years represent a homicide-by-firearm rate of 18 per 100,000 inhabitants — more than five times higher than the U.S. rate."
To be fair:
Japan- "In this country, guns are few and far between. And so is gun violence. Guns were used in only seven murders in Japan — a nation of about 130 million — in all of 2011, the most recent year for official statistics. According to police, more people — nine — were murdered with scissors."

Clearly, scissors need to be banned...
:@
So many people die putting their trousers on each year too, have use a bit of common sense here, how many assaults, killings are committed using the nearest things at hand, vases, bricks, stools etc..what are guns used for apart from hurting folks?
From what I've heard (don't know for sure) Norway outright bans guns to the point u get thrown in jail for being caught with one. Yet that dude was able to get one and gun down 90+ people.

I'm only gonna make one post.

So much for gun control stopping mass murders.
Mass murders will not be stopped. If someone wants to kill people, they will. Whether it be with a gun, knife, or explosives. The best way to remedy these situations is to invest more money in psychological remedies. A psychological exam should be required when buying a gun. Sure, it won't stop mass murders. A family member could still just take that gun and use it. But it sure would prevent some.

Well that's nice that you think that but you arent as important as the president of the United States of America, sorry to break it to you. You arent now nor will you ever be. If you think you are then feel free to hire armed security to follow you around then you have nothing to complain about.
The president's life is no more important than anyone elses life, period. Not mine, not yours or anyone else's.
I didnt say i needed one. I have 2 and the ban, if its passed but probably wont be, wont affect me at all. I just know a little about guns compared to most arguing that we dont need them and i know there is no difference between the two. I own both, i doubt you do so you are arguing about something you know nothing about.
straw man argument.
he says "you aren't as important as", and you twist it to "your life isn't as important as".
If you read from the first post i made, i asked what makes protecting his wife and children more important than me protecting mine. I never claimed to be more important, thats just what he took it as.
ok, then you have to ask yourself the following: who are you protecting your family from?
also, if you go back, you'll also see I left you a link to a video for you to watch.
it's easy to find, my posts aren't that long.
Anyone who tries to harm them.
2 weeks ago a woman about 3 hours from my house was sitting at home with her twins. She heard someone breaking into the house and took her kids upstairs and grabbed her gun. She hid with the kids in the attic while she was on the phone with her husband, he was on the phone with the police. The guy found them, she shot him 5 times in the face and neck with a 5 shot 38 revolver. The guy was apprehended later. Yes apprehended as in lived and left under his own power.
This wasnt in some ghetto or projects, normal neighborhood. This could happen to anyone.
Best part of the news story on this was at the end, when police said the guy had broken into another home just before he broke into the one where he was shot.
He fled the first home because someone who was unarmed was home.

AKA the gun control laws arent a response to crime, stop with that line of argument. It's a response to sensless massacre and how easy it is.
Wouldn't be so easy if people would arm themselves.
By "people", do you mean the kids, the teachers, or the movie theater ushers?
Look, all I'm saying is that the "criminals don't obey gun laws" argument is just not applicable to this situation, and its hery derpy dee to bring it up. The dumbasses treating public places like a turkey shoot are NOT hardened criminals, nor do they get they get their guns from hardened criminals. And before you say it, turning that same place into an untrained moron vigilante crossfire with the children in the middle instead of just a turkey shoot is, uh, not the greatest of ideas.
I agree with most of that. How can you say that the criminals don't obey gun laws argument isn't the most solid of all arguments? Its the honest truth. All they do by making a place gun free is disarm law abiding citizens leaving them as sheep for the wolves. Generally though I'm pretty sure that you can't be an untrained moron vigilante and still get a concealed carry license. I train weekly and pay tons of money to take classes so that I am better prepared for any situation that might befall me.
Well that great that you think you are trained for an armed person busting into a room shooting people, even if you are that doesnt mean that if there are 10 other people in the room with guns are. That doesnt help you if one of them freaks out and thinks you are also a shooter and then shoots you also. Police specifically train for these situations for hours and hours (not just shooting weapons at a firing range) and they dont believe an average citizen will be prepared to deal with the chaos of these situations no matter how many hours you have at the firing range. They believe it most likely wont help the situation, it just makes you more of a target, and it makes it more confusing for cops to determine who is the shooter when they arrive on the scene.
You might find this ABC report interesting, although I am sure you will tell yourself, "Im better than those people" and completely ignore it...
You are complete and utter fool if you think that all I do to train is going to the firing range and fire at a target. Maybe you missed the point I made when I said that I spend tons of money each year training for situations that may arise. I take the exact same training courses that the police take. In fact I've trained side by side with police many many times. You are of the assumption that anyone with a weapon that isn't an officer of the law is a complete idiot. This is where you are wrong. Anyone with a brain would know not to try and take control of a situation that they didn't know exactly how to handle. And as for the police having a hard time distinguishing between a shooter and a regular armed citizen. Its pretty obvious who isn't the threat, because an armed citizen will put his weapon down when the police ask him to whereas a criminal won't.
Who knows, may be after living over there(in a dodgy area) i would want be armed too,i wouldnt see myself getting any other than a pistol..lifes suits me here tho where everything involving guns is rare as hens teeth.

Yep, you and every other person who owns a gun has had extensive police/military level training and is totally responsible. Just ask one! Then get them drunk and watch them dry fire their shit into the air like f**king retards.

Cause that's exactly what happens all the time now when there are hundreds of millions of privately owned guns in America right now.

Look dude, you're missing the point. As a disclaimer, I am a proponent of gun ownership and the 2nd amendment, don't doubt that I am. I also try to give people the benefit of the doubt. I've personally witnessed the last sentence of my last post though, I'm not just talking shit.
But all that is irrelevant. The point is, sure, ok, you are a responsible gun owner. Who's been super highly trained in police force tactics! So is everyone else who owns a gun if you ask them.
For all I care, I don't care whether America controls guns or not because I don't have to live there (thank god) What the hell anyone needs a gun for is beyond me. The UK police perfect without them. I've seen so many cops on these shows literally pull a gun out on someone after a speed chase or some as petty as that. Imagine living in a country where you have to be on edge so bad because of awful government restrictions like this? Yeah we all know you can kill someone with a stick if they wanted, this is such a bad excuse. Guns are most certainly an easier way to kill people. Look at that mass murder in the cinemas, you think you could of done that with a knife? Absolute morons, god bless America! The home of the freaks and brainless.
