The thing is, the pro-gun people always have to defend their points of view because the anti-gun people chime in first expressing their disgust in guns and everybody who has them. Sure, I can understand people who dislike weapons wanting to bring up their disgust, but to take it to the degree of insulting and disrespecting everyone who owns a gun by collectively calling them all psycho's, hicks, retards etc. is ridiculous.

This group is widely known for their "anti-gay" rhetoric that says "God hates fags" and that dead soldiers are Gods will.
My first inclination would be to say let them show up and have them feel the wrath of a few grieving families. Personally, if you show upat the funeral of my loved one for any purpose other than to show respect, theres going to be another funeral... but this would be a case of 2 wrongs...

they are picketing, not coming to support - they are turning a tragedy into something it shouldnt be turned into. funerals should be private or if public - u respect it with silence and prayers. they dont give a shit about these people. they are going to go there and picket (disrespect the deceased). it's a shame.

Im not anti gun. I just think most people with guns are nutjobs.
I own plenty of guns and i would consider myself middle-leaning-left but i feel strongly about gun control.
People dont realize that guns were created with one purpose, destruction. People get confused with right to bear arms and right to use them. I own 2 kreighoff weapons, a pistol and a shotgun... As well as 2 rifles but i only use them for trap and skeet.
The founding fathers were thinking ahead in case America was invaded or needed a violent revolution, not day to day use. So strict gun laws sound fine to me and thats not a hasty desicion, i have always felt that way. |

A list that will not be heard of a list that most people wish they never seen all you seam to talk about the gun controls and the people who did it.
While you all debate the gun laws and where they got the guns and if guns should be legal...I want you to read EACH of these names then go hug your children,Parents,brother sister or whomever. And be thankful you get to spend this holiday with them! |
I've read each and every name, I am thankful that my family are still here. (and thankful for you for posting this here, it is really important to remember why we are talking.)
But
I still think it's important to talk about what killed these poor little souls and whether or not something could be done to prevent it (especially in the future). I think it would be an insult to their memory not to do so, in fact. I genuinely don't understand why thinking about these little ones, respecting their memory and talking about the possibility of more control over guns (the tool of choice for this atrocity) should be mutually exclusive...

It seams you guys are forgetting one small aspect. The guy who did this had a history of mental illness. This was documented,In this country if you have a legal mental illness you are forbidden to own a gun.After talking with my friend who's kids go to this same school I found out that the gun that he used was his mothers. No one in a family with someone with mental illness is allowed a weapon of this. Yes I know this for a fact. If needed I can share you some links but common sense should be enough to tell you this as well.
You wish to blame someone you can blame him for going off his medication and you can blame his family for owning a gun knowing he has a history of mental illness. This is no excuse however but I personally have seen the side effects of a mental illness patient going off their medication. This is DANGEROUS under any type either guns,knifes,sticks or even a simple lighter. Do not judge this man because that is not our place. Our place is to feel for the kids and family that has suffered though this horrible tragedy that could have been stopped if he would have taken his medication and not been around any type of weapon!

maybe you'd be surprised to learn the very first of those rights is the right of life itself.

Maybe you would be surprised to learn that no matter how snide your remarks are, it does not make the anti-gun logic and rhetoric employed by you and others who believe it, any less faulty.
I am saddened by the crime that was committed in Connecticut, as well as all the other senseless crimes committed by deranged people using whatever tool of death they decide to wield, but that doesn't change the fact that our Constitution was well conceived, and has served a very considerable good, if not a perfect one.

So that is the problem, huh. This wasn't reported in the link. Disinformation at its best.
Although it will raise more concern about family with its member having mental history to own a gun, it seems you won't like anymore gun control issue, so I'll drop it.
That list is grieving. Still, while the dead shall rest in peace, the life must continue living. God forbid any person seeing the name of their loved one in that death's list. As a human bestowed with wisdom, it is common sense to prevent any incoming disaster if its possible.
Seeing children died in starvation, one can act to donate some food and clothes.
Seeing children died in war, one can act by demonstrating against their government.
Seeing children lives in poverty, one can act by donating money.
Seeing children died by guns in the hand of a... 'different' person?
Well.
