Wow sin, that time in that prison sure have been a life-changing situation.

I am jelly of what you've gained from that situation, although I'd probably not choosing a prison as the place of choice.

there is absolutely NOTHING TO BE JELLY ABOUT. it's not a movie you can turn off, it's not a game you can have another try at. It's real life & if your not careful, the consequences can be very severe.

tbh a lot of people who come out have a hard time adjusting there attitudes & mentalities to those on the outside, like he said, who you are out here doesn't mean jack shit inside. & in all honesty, my personal opinion, anyone who's been inside for a period of 20 yrs. or more, ya might as well leave em in there. cause chances are your never gonna break em from the mentality they adapted to, to survive on the inside, as opposed to the 1 your used to using to rationalize your behavior on the outside.

couldn't help but to lol when i seen you were jelly... about not going to prison. Though it might sound like some magical experience because sin (or anybody learned whatever while there) doesn't mean it is. It's a terrible environment and just about everything is terrible about it, down to how the CO's treat you, let alone whatever beef or simple interactions you need to navigate while there.

Ain't shit sweet about it. Get your head back in the books and follow a different path.

Maybe I'm bias or subjective because I was so happy to get out compared to the charges they attacked me with, but jail really wasn't THAT bad. I was facing 2-5 years for felony evading, 1 year for DUI, and 5+ for assaulting an officer. (The evading and assault of officer got dropped eventually so I was released on time served +)

I was in Gen Pop and I was surrounded by people who had murdered and robbed and raped but the environment reminded me of high school. Sure there was arguments about wanting food but no one got "shanked". You argued it out or fought it out, but no one got raped or killed. The Movie versions of jail are mostly crap... It CAN happen, but it's not likely.

The worst part about jail is food and lack... lack of everything.... Lack of sugar (be it tea or juice), lack of condiments (mayo, ketchup, mustard, syrup or whatever, they didn't let us have anything), lack of variety (I grew to like country music because CMT was the ONLY channel they played on the community TV) and lack of freshness. We had "treats" occasionally, but our "treats" were crap like MoonPies that were so old and hard that they would crack down the middle if you plucked them.

In general, there is a reason that most convicts are skinny... because they don't feed you well. But other than that, you won't get raped or killed.... It's like a very confined high school except you ate better in high school.

there a difference between county & prison though.

The county here has 3 different parts. The intake was designed more like a grey hound bus station, but with sender block rooms along the walls with 1 wooden bench & a toilet.(some of em have a concrete slab ya can sleep on) Friday & Sat. nights there can get pretty crazy. People come in drunk, geeked out, nodding out, pissed of cause of the sudden transition there experiencing. I seen some c.o.'s definately earn there $$ on them nights.

& seeing how Dayton is predominately African American. It was gonna be a cold day in hell before you watched any CMT. lol. It was BET or whatever game was on or it was nothing. When ya go to rooms up stairs you either went to pods or rollover. Rollover sucks a big ****. Here ya cram 20 + men(sometimes) into a 2 part room. The sleeping quarters not so bad, But when they roll ya over into the day room, your there for hr.s upon hr.s standing in a room. no phone ,t.v. no tables, no chairs, Just a bunch of grown men crammed into a small space where ya got to smell each others farts & bad breath.. Seen a lot of fights in there & yes a lot of people fighting over the slop of a tray they call food.

getting sent up was definately better in terms of food & sleeping conditions. Plus a job or ed. classes definately help to break the monotony of it.

But i cant agree with ya when ya say its not that bad because tbh, I seen some pretty f**ked up things i don't wish to remember.
For me thought mainly it was the lil things we take for granted that bothered me.

Being able to go to YOUR fridge & get a cold glass of o.j. or a pop. cooking out, eating what you want to eat, taking a shower by yourself. (Indian river had 10 shower heads & would often put 15 or more at a time in.) Being able to relax in a room without having to smell another man's bowel movement, or him having to smell your's. (plus worrying about toilet paper) wearing something besides that same old dirty jumpsuit. could go on & on.

Granted it's definately not what the movies make it out to be, But it still not for the weak minded or people that are used to being sheltered.

I am NOT jelly of going into prison camp. Bolding my statement for you.

I spent a tiny amount of time in juvenile detention when I was 14, but nothing compared to adult jail/prison. I was lucky enough to quit being bullheaded, I learned from my mistakes and wizened up.
