Me and several friends are riding from John o' Groats to Lands end next august, we will be doing it in 9 days, so thats around 100 miles a day for 9 days, camping out/staying in youth hostels depending on what we can sort out.

We are doing it for 3 charities; MND - Motor neurone disease, Macmillan cancer research and scouts.

We are aiming to raise around £10,000 in total, so thats around 3 grand per charity.

We have a Facebook page to try raise awareness, please like it and share it! Click here for the page!

If you have any ideas on how to raise more awareness please by all means, let me know

If you would like to support this, please also get in touch. I appreciate this, thankyou for reading. Have a nice day.

You need to buy the skill book from the skill vendor and than double click it from your inventory.

Good effort Ash,

I did a 240 mile bike ride for help for heroes last year. We did it in 4 days.

Considering we used mountain biked and travelled with ruck sakes and camping equipment, it was HARD!

100 miles a day, bloody brilliant. All the best, its not easy but you know that and no doubts you'l smash it

I raised awareness through work. Where you work, see if there is any corporate fund raising scheme. Its not rude to ask. I found out that my company backed me up and they said they will double my total raised!!!!!!!

facebook and family is a good start too, but dont post too much and or too little. one a week but keep that going.

Forums like this will turn around into negative "youre posting for donations" so i avoided torn forums completely but good on you for posting. more balls than me.

Also... 3 charities?

I did that also, but we decided to narrow it down to one that you know you all believed in.

Our toss up was between RSPCA, NCPCC ( spelling ) and H4H.

Pick one, make a stronger donation!

And afterwards... get some photos, get into your local news paper too for your efforts and success.

Ah nice man Was that a coast to coast?

Yeah we're doing it with mountain bikes, with everything on are backs haha, I'm hoping my uncle's going to let me use his crosscountry bike or I'm going to be doing it on a JUMP BIKE... Can't afford to buy a new bike so ya'no... Lol.

Yeah I know, I go to gym regularly for weights and always bike or jog there, going to start using excerise bikes there aswell, when it starts getting warmer early next year, I'll start to do at least 100m each week then build up to I'm doing about 200 miles-400 miles each week.

That's an idea, there's a few of us doing it, I think his work might be giving him 4 grand towards it, I think I'll ask my work tommorow, I'm at college too so it's only a part-time job but it's for a multi-national company and I'm loved by managers so yah never know haha, although I probs won't have balls to say anything. What did you say to your work? Thats brilliant getting them to double whatever you manage to raise!

Yeahh, I'm getting my college to do a-lot, it's a high school/sixth form so there going to have a fancy dress thing which should raise over a grand.

Yeahh, well because theres a few of us, the persons idea it was originally, is a scout leader so he really wants that, and both MND and macmillan are both close to my heart, if it was up to me, we wouldn't be doing scouts but it's understandable they want to do it so I see what you mean but think it's best if we stick to the three. And yeahh, we still need to get media attention, we've emailed a few news channels to try get media attention for awareness. One person who is doing it with me is going to try get a camera set up so he can try have a live feed throughout the journey so that should be interesting.

No chance you're getting that done in 9 days with all your gear. I think 12 days would be more realistic with that gear. Good luck though, I applaud you.

Originally we was going to do it in 14 days, but we decided that is by far too easy. We want a big challenge to reach a great personal and rewarding achievement. Both MND and Macmillan are very close to my heart so the more we raise the better When it gets to january, i am getting a new bike for the ride, gotta save up, going to spend around the grand figure so if anyone has any suggestions feel free, I don't want a road bike as I want to be able to use it for rough ground etc. I'm thinking about a hybrid or something thats recently come out called a 27'er, which i believe allows me to have either a hybrid tyre on it or a mountain bike tyre, correct me if I'm wrong.

We are going to try get the press involved closer to the time to raise more awareness as we are hoping to get sponsors after the event aswell.

I would never do nothing for any charity unless I was 25mil+ rich or it was benefiting me somehow. The only benefit I see in this is exercise

Both MND and Macmillan are very close to my heart so the more I raise, the happier, I will be!

Besides the fact that this is a life achievement.

What exactly do you keep bumping the thread for.. awareness by a bunch of assholes who could (probably) care less or in hopes of ideas to get your cause more attention?

Either way, good luck and I hope you reach your goals.

You never know, hopefully I'll catch someones attention who could make a real difference, donation, awareness, advice. Anyway, awareness comes one person at a time, and what can I loose out on, this forum is helping awareness, person by person
