So, I've got a bit of a boner for the 80s at the moment. I was born at the tip of the tail end so have no first hand experience so do any of you older lot have any special little gems (little known/ less obvious songs) you could share with me?

I like Duran Duran & Bryan Adams, I think they're 80's...
I would post links but it's a pain on my phone.

Just an Illusion by Imagination is catchy as f**k.
EDIT: it also sounds like it belongs in a gay bar for some reason. Doesn't make me any less of a man to like the song. Right?

Can't go wrong with Queen!

One of my fave 80s songs is Tainted Love by Soft Cell. Alas I was born in the 90s, decade of the Spice Girls and Boyzone

Happy mondays. The first band i liked when i was a kid. Still sounds pretty funky. Kind of rock music and dance music combined.

Beastie Boys, RunD.M.C. and N.W.A are some of the hiphop ones I like. Not sure on there actual year status but must be around the 80's.

I've also listened to a bit of rock from that era not sure though.

Australian Crawl- Reckless, Errol, shutdown, Boys light up, downhearted.

Crowded house- Something so strong, Weather with You, Fall at Your Feet, distant sun, four season one day, don't dream its over, mean to me.

Classic Metallica.

Classic Slayer.

Shouldn't go wrong with any of them. Crowded house and Australian crawl are two good aussie bands and I have just listed my favourite songs of theirs,.

Vangelis are pretty good too, they did the Blade Runner soundtrack.

And as Pulp_Fiction said classic Metallica are best, Iron Maiden are good too.

Berlin - Sex

Blondie - Rapture

Those were my secrets, among others, that I listened to in the 80's.

Adam Ant
Falco
etc

But there was plenty of great metal, too.

Def Leppard
Scorpions
Judas Priest
Black Sabbath (w/o Ozzy - Ian Gillan on Born Again and Ronnie James Dio on a couple of other albums
Deep Purple reunited and did the Perfect Strangers tour
I saw Metallica at their first stadium tour. They opened for the Scorpions. 'Tally kicked the Scorps asses!

So much good stuff happened in the 80's...and that includes Ronnie the Cowboy POTUS.

UB40's cover of "Red Red Wine" by Neil Diamond was lovely

Men without hats "Safety Dance" was magnificent

Tears for Fear did "Mad World" in the 80's didn't they?

Also, ACDC was 80's I think.

Either way, all of that's great stuff
