Well the title says it all, if you have to pick one band, who is your favorite and why?

Mine is suicide silence, God bless Mitch Lucker. I met him and went for a couple drinks after one of his gigs, he's such an amazing guy, I saw the band live four times, the lyrics mean so much to they, they help me cope. I f**king loved him and the band, it made me so angry when I found out he left his daughter behind because of alcohol, one of the reasons I stopped drinking. I'll never get the chance to thank him, I will miss him, I'll never get the chance to go have another few drinks and talk about random bullshit again.

Summer slaughter 2008

The pictures aren't working for some reason so if anyone wants to see him in all his glory, I was stood right at the front of the gig so.

I like alot of different bands really... Stone Temple Pilots, Rage Against The Machine, The Stranglers, Iron Maiden...
I mainly listen to groups or musicians who do other types of music.

Sorry I didn't mean to limit it to groups! I mean artists in general, like one artist/band/group, I wanted some stories behind why more then anything!

Hmm, well I liked Nickel Creek because if their diversity of instruments. Blue grass is interesting... Their lyrics stand out to me. A couple songs tell a story, some don't exactly make sense but at the same time makes you feel it has a hidden meaning, and others are love songs that make both people in the wrong/right which I don't often find.
Another producer I like is known as "cosMo" or "Bousou". He seems to be a progressive artist, but leans towards the techno side? I love how fast his songs usually are, and how half of them tell their own story, but the other songs tell one single story, piece by piece. I like how so many of his songs are sad, but they sound happy.
Another producer I'm fond of is known as "Pinocchio". Yet again I can't tell what kind of music he makes... I'd like to say techno rock? I dunno hahah. His songs have a strong rhythm which makes me energetic. Like cosMo, he adds a touch of chaos to most of his songs which makes them memorable to me. His songs often sound loud and careless, while the lyrics are often harsh facts about life and stuff like that, so you could say his songs "laugh it off."

I've been listening to a lot of classical lately. I'm usually a metal guy, both listening and playing, but I never noticed just how influenced by classical metal actually is.

@Magnum: I've not heard anything from Scooter in ages, but just hearing the name takes me back to my days of popping pills in dodgy nightclubs. I can't remember if they were good times or bad times

Edit: Forgot to mention my favourites. I'm liking Wagner atm. Bach's always a go-to choice also.

Yeah used to be a huge fan when I was 10, but then I didn't hear much from them either, so I moved on. Recently been listening to them again, they've released some new stuff but it's not as good as their 90's - 2008 stuff...

Reel Big Fish are pretty underrated. "Candy Coated Fury" is a good album, especially "Everyone Else Is An Asshole" and "I Know You Too Well To Like You Anymore".

My fav band is the british warmetal band Bolt Thrower.
Thing I like best about them is like a lot of other bands of this type their music itself is relatively simple and pretty much anyone who has a bit of musical experience can play their songs with relative ease.
Their subject matter is all related to war and have many songs that deal with historical battles and conflicts - besides fictional conflicts similar to subjects from Warhammer and Warhammer 40k

Brand New.

Long winded explanation here;

Long Island 'Alternative/Emo/Punk' band. Hard to fit into a specific genre, quite unique in my opinion.

Linked with Taking Back Sunday, Manchester Orchestra and Kevin Devine most. Heavily inspired by The Smiths, but look at artists such as Roky Erikson and Neutral Milk Hotel for inspiration as well.

Became very successful after their 2nd album, but they take 3-4 years out touring and stuff between albums (last release in 09) so their awareness dies down.

They don't ride on publicity and stuff, they have like a quiet, strong and loyal fanbase, surprisingly popular but a band you have to discover yourself, not through something like readingKerrang, but were once quoted along the lines of 'A hot band to watch' by Rolling Stone magazine.

Could ramble on more, but they're worth a listen, they're also playing R&L this year, so if any of you guys are there, they're a phenomenally enthusiastic live act.

The Cure

They cover so many genre's of music, and they're are truly unique in my opinion. Some of their songs are so touching, some are depressive, whilst others are really up-beat and happy!
Robert Smith has a beautiful soul, and his music is so powerful.
