I live in a rural area, we can't get dsl or anything good for online gaming. Hughes nets blows and won't work. I was wondering if anyone has experience or knowledge about att u-verse? Is it good enough for games? Will the ping be outrageous and make it unplayable? Games like COD on Xbox live, WoW, and torncity? I've been playing torncity by tethering my iPhone and it runs pretty well. Just need feedback about this Internet, and this is the only ISP besides satellite that is available where I live. Thanks for any info.

wth is hughes net? or att u-verse?

if those are some ISPs? they must be some small local ones since Comcast and Verizon dominate the US market.

Maybe, and Hughes net is internet by satellite. Fast, but not for gaming. I think ATT U-verse is basically just a Wi-Fi with a enormous reach I'm not to sure. I thought they were both widely known, guess not. Let me mention I probably live in the smallest city in the world. (;not really); but still i live in BFE. It's no fun.

Well I use Fios which gives me around 5Mbps(;I can get around 15mpbs if I wanted to); but typically for most downloads I do(;;and i run a lot of paralell downloads);; I get around 3mbps and as for my ping in games it rarely goes above 100 which is very good although my FPS kind of kills that since my computer is 6 years old and is going to be replaced soon.

About Fios I don';t think its widely available across the US aside from Eastern US(;;mostly along the East Coast);; and around the Gulf area because its mostly being installed in high population areas due to the cost of it.

I don't have fiber optics available either. :;(; I'm just nervous U-verse will be like Hughes net and when I game online it takes to long to respond. I'm around the gulf area so maybe or will be available soon!

well pray you get it in your area because it is the fastest method for getting internet in the world at the moment.

I've never liked satelite internet anyway since its so unreliable even if you have 10-15 satelites overhead lol.

Lol I had satellite. Cost me an arm and leg and monthly bill was outrageous! On top of that it had a daily limit of 250 Mbps. Oh, and lets not mention the tree limb that fell and destroyed my satelitte dish... And I heard good thing about fiber optics. Maybe sometime soon. Thanks for all the replies.
