So Battlefield got revealed yesterday in Stockholm and San Fransico, and it looks epic so far. So far we've seen more involvement with the characters in the campaign, new weapons (such as the M32 grenade launcher, M249 PARA and what looked like an M4), new sight system, more destruction, improved graphics with no blue tint, suppression is still there but it doesn't seem to be as bad as BF3, a new spotting system and the campaign looks to be more action packed.

So far there are two versions of this game, the standard edition and Digital Deluxe edition. Both games when pre-ordered come with a Battlefield Expansion. Digital Deluxe edition gives you exclusive Battlefield 4 beta access and bonus in-game content (doesn't say what it is). The beta should be released in Fall/Autumn.

If I missed anything feel free to add in, I'm hyped for the game.

Updated 21/05/2013:

Battlefield 4 is a genre defining action blockbuster made from moments that blur the line between game and glory moments found only in Battlefield. With dynamic destructible environments, epic vehicular combat, and the chaos of all-out war, Battlefield 4 gives you the freedom to do more and be more for an unrivaled entertainment experience.

Pre-order Battlefield 4 now to get a Premium expansion pack at no extra charge. Become a Battlefield 3 Premium member to get access to the exclusive Battlefield 4 Beta. This exclusive Beta will be available world-wide on all platforms, with the exception of Japan and rest of Asia on PS3.

Since the reveal of the Xbox One, more info has been released on Battlefield 4.

Battlefield 4 will be available 10/29/2013 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3. Could this mean that the next gen consoles will be released around or before October? I'm hoping so.

DICE also revealed that players who pre-order Battlefield 4 will receive the Battlefield 4 China Rising premium digital expansion pack at no additional cost. Players will fight for dominance across the vast and majestic Chinese mainland in four massive maps, using all-new vehicles and high-tech military equipment.

Also, Battlefield 4 multiplayer demo gameplay will be shown June 10th, 1PM PTD, at E3.

Updated 10/06/2013:

Battlefield 4 multiplayer got revealed today at E3 and some more single player, and I am super hyped about it. Destruction levels have been increased, player models are different and Commander mode is back. We see soldiers making use of the elevators, combat taking place in many different places amd heights through out the map, buildings being leveled and even an objective being taken out. The spotting mechanic has also changed to an animation, so we're not going to be spamming the spot key as frequently as we used to. Also knifing can be countered and it looks like the knife take down can be initiated from the front. Squads of 4 have been change to squads of five, which will be great because there's always at least one of my friends who gets left out. I've a feeling they're going to polish up the graphics in the multiplayer when it goes into Beta, because as far as I know it's still in Alpha.

I'll be updating this with any more info I get but for now, I'm going to leave you guys with the trailers and in game footage, enjoy!

Updated 30/07/2013:

So Battlelog is getting a revamp or even an overhaul with the release of Battlefield 4. The tablet and smartphone feature aren't really mine or many other Battlefielder's main interest, I mainly see it as a novelty (don't own a tablet and I've got a semi-budget smartphone).

But a few things have caught my eye in this and Battlescreen is number one on that list. I'm definitely going to have my laptop open with this on it when I'm playing, because this is going to be so useful. It's going to benefit console players since they can't expand their map and even PC players, because it means they still have a clear view of their screen instead of sacrificing it to expand their map.

The missions and global leaderboards or going to keep the game fresh, even when DLC runs out. People have their worries about it, because they think people are just going to go off and do their own thing, but we've got that even now. Think about them bush wookies who go off and snipe from 1000m out.

Anyway I'm going to leave you guys with the trailer, enjoy:

Updated 01/08/2013:

EA have sent a few multiplayer gameplay videos to some YouTubers, pretty nice of them:

Updated 16/08/2013:

There has been so much information and new screenshots out for Battlefield. So close to Gamescom, I can't wait to see what they'll show. There's a new map and game mode to be shown, and it'll also be at current alpha stage so there will be more detail than what we saw at E3. (I'd love to link a video that goes through all the info that they've released but there's a bit of trouble with the YouTube link)

The new jet for the Chinese has been announced as well, I think that it looks really cool. It's called the J-20 Stealth Fighter:

Updated 20/08/2013

I'm so hyped about this game, I feel like I'm going to explode! Dynamic weather, more destruction, naval warfare and just everything that is going into Battlefield is mind blowing! I really am starting to wonder how current gen consoles will run this. 8 man servers maybe? Anyway enjoy the footage, I'm sure I'll be putting up more for the week of Gamescom. (Some trouble with the Levolution link, so I just left a clicky URL)

The defibs will take 4 seconds to charge now, that's without the specialisation that reduces that time. This news is great in my opinion, it's going to put the medic a bit more in line with the other classes and put a stop to someone jumping into a room and rambo reviving.

it was officially unveiled but they already had leaked gameplay footage and i recall seeing a small announcement somewhere on their site or in game announcing a BF4 last Fall.

regardless I may wait a few weeks after release before I buy but if the Battlefield franchise is going down the road of CoD with stupid release every year then I most likely won't buy any games in the series after BF4 well except for Bad Company 3 since that series is hilarious to play through.

But it hasn't been every year. Battlefield 3 was released in October 2011 and now it's 2013 and BF4 won't be put until at least Winter. Unlike Treyarch and Infinity Ward, DICE improve their games in leaps, not hops.

But it feels like it's starting to be released annually. But it'll take another release or two until it does.

basically because if they start doing annual releases like CoD I will most likely stop buying games in that franchise. I have a lot of FPS games on my computer that are years old with no sequels and yet thousands still play them and its hard to find an empty server. All that is because the devs behind those games continue to support them and add content with a select few supporting open source modding.

You don't see that with a lot of big name shooter games anymore.

They haven't done it yet, so I've still got faith in them. And I doubt they'll be doing it anytime soon either. What EA are focused on when it comes to marketing at the moment is bringing players over from Call of Duty to increase the community. I didn't know this until yesterday, but they brought some big named Call of Duty YouTubers to the unveiling of Battlefield 4. This was a smart tactic by them because it's likely that if the YouTuber shows an interest, the fans will try it out and most likely follow. What I'm getting across here is EA knows doing what C.o.D does isn't going to win them customers. I think we're safe from the release every year for now.

In Bad Company 2 all I needed to destroy a building was 4 C4 charges and abused the way the walls cave in.

Once I taught a few ppl how to do it a week later I saw tons of ppl doing it and eventually they patched it to prevent people from easily destroying the walls to destory the MCOM stations lol

this

I'm more or less kind of tired of playing FPS games due to the fact they release new games annually most of the time and add so little innovation to the gameplay and they simply just reskin the game and improve on the graphics which in the end doesn't translate to keeping people playing it for very long.

You come across as one of those people who see the past better than it was, the present worse than it is, and the future less resolved than it will be. Nothing truly bad or off turning has come out of the Battlefield series. Frostbite 2 in BF3 was running at 20% of it's full power. So what was the point in throwing out something that they hadn't used to it's potential? It was held back by the current gen consoles, but this time around it's running at 80% and now BF4 is being ported from PC down to the next generation and current generation consoles. Before this, it was ported from console to PC. That limited a hell of a lot. Really the graphics haven't been DICE's main goal to improve, yeah they've been sharpened and they do look better, but there has been so much game mechanics that have been improved and added.

The Battlefield series has just got better and better imo. I was a bit hesitant with Battlefield 3 after Bad Company 2 because of the drastic changes to recoil and movement / shooting but you get used to it and in the end it is actually better. I just think COD is no-way near the level that Battlefield is at.

Yeah, CoD really has taken a nose dive out of the failure tree and hit every branch on the way down. Still, as long as people keep buying, they'll keep making more games.

because they only have to spend a couple months reskinning the game which is cheap to sell it for a premium like past games compared to outright making a game from scratch.

About time you updated, lol.

I'm a console player and the new features to battlelog will improve making decisions on the field immensely. It usually is quite hard to judge where people are making the next attack or to judge where the enemy has defence in depth.

While the skull and crossbones can usually indicate this, on the new gen systems with more players this will become harder to accurately identify. (I can't imagine how chaotic it must be on PC with 64 players, LOL) But you do have the option to open the map or even scale your HUD map out so you aren't blindly running into a 20 man zerg rush.

Really I hate to give EA another penny. They're greedy bastards and rightfully the worst company in America 2 years running. BUT! It is Battlefield. I refused to buy Dead Space, NFS, ANY Fifa, Etc.. But I'm going to cave. Souly because of how visually stunning & fluid the game looks. Though I'm debating waiting for the inevitable Premium copy. I remember how fun Killzone 3 multiplayer was and if Shadow Fall can match that, I'll hold off.
