Also, put your top 5 games for either one, or.. both!
I remember being a kid, and these two giants seemed to completely rule the world. Everywhere you went, everything you ate, and everything you saw on TV had Either companies logo, or mascot slapped on it! What a glorious time.
You think Xbox and PS3 fan boys are over the top? I remember older kids FIGHTING, literally with fists in school over which was better!
Ladies and Gentleman, choose your weapon!

What's this about SNES?
NES, baby. I kept it til you couldn't buy games for it anymore then upgraded it to a PS.

N64 since that was the first console me and my brother got which turned us into serious gamers.
Had an original Nintendo but the damn thing was a secondhand buy that barely worked.

Sega Mega Drive. It was my brother's but I played it even though I was really young. My top 5 were Alien 3, Zero Wing, Sonic The Hedgehog, EarthwormJim & a Mickey Mouse game I can't remember the name of...

I unfortunately missed out on such fine gaming units. I was forced to round animals up and generally made to go outside all my younger days.

Blah, you should've made an option for both. I loved Echo the Dolphin on Sega, as well as the Aladdin game. :3 And then Mario, Zelda, TMNT, and DuckHunt on the NES.

I beleive I was mostly a Nintendo kid. Had NES and a Game Boy and didn´t get my Megadrive until late august of 1996. The NES is 24 years old, still being used and works just as good as when we got it.

Yeah, same for me. Never owned a NES or SNES. The N64 and the Gameboy Color are what pretty much got me into gaming. Pretty sure I have them both lying around somewhere in my house now too

I first got the original gameboy in its limited clear cover version which came with one of my favorite games and that was Tetris. I played that game so much that I wore out the cartridge. Below is what that gameboy looked like.

I had both, but preferred SNES. I got one the day they came out, I think I was 12 years old at the time. Here's the games I liked in order.
1. Final Fantasy 3 (6 in japan)
2. Super Mario RPG
3. Star Fox
4. Street Fighter 2 Turbo
5. F-Zero
A lot of these maybe rather common answers, but I thought they were great. I think I have owned like 90% of all gaming consoles that are sold in the U.S. and the SNES would have to be one of my all time favorites.
A few years back one of my friends picked up a N64 for the hell of it and we sat and played Super Smash Bros until the controllers wore out.

Both. I loved them all. Had a generic movie rental store down the road from us that had a "rent any game for $5 for 5 nights" deal every summer so I was always playing the hell out of em both.
For SNES
all the Marios, the Final Fight series, Street Fighter 2 turbo, Star Fox, Earthworm Jim, Kirby, Contra, Mortal Kombat, Donkey Kong Country, Contra, etc.
For Genesis
All the Sonic games, Prime time football with Deon Sanders, Joe Montana football, the Lion King game, Shinobi, all X-Men games, Double Dragon series, NBA JAM TE, Streets of Rage, Battletoads, etc.
They both had hundreds of GREAT games. Couldn't possibly pick favorites.

Just the other day I soft hacked my PSP3000 where it has an SNES emulator. I gotta say it feels a little wrong playing Nintendo games on a Sony system, but it's fun.

but even back then i think i was still a pc gamer my dad had so many awesome games on the PC i wish i knew what they were now i've asked him about them and he doesn't have a clue what they were now.

Anyone remember that robot game on the megadrive? You built a robot up from preset bits like arms and legs and shit which had different abilities and they fought against each other.

I had both NES and SNES. I still have my original nintendo system but don't know what happen to the other.
My top games were:
1. Castlevania
2. Street Fighter
3. All Super Mario Bros Games
I can't remember any other games I use to play. These were the main ones. I did love to play Contra but I'm not sure if that was an Atarri game instead of Nintendo so I didn't include that on the list. If it is a Nintendo game then that would be #4.
Secretly though, I did want a Sega console. Those commercials were very catchy.

I had Amigas in the 90s. Amiga 500 then 1200. The amiga 1200 was my main games machine all the way up until 2007 when i bought this laptop
There where many many great games on the amiga and a lot of the developers making the big games now started on the Amiga.
I know rockstar started on the amiga and a number of other large developers did as well.
