Skyrim is, simply put, a very good game, if not the best in the Elder Scrolls franchise..

And maybe it gets repetitive after 20 hours, imo every game has that.

If you ever played Morrowind or other elder scroll games and you liked them, there is no reason why you shouldn't play Skyrim

A great game indeed, always entertaining and surprising what creatures you run into and what skills you can learn. The DLC's open a great door for new adventures.

You get to kill dragons ....... enough said!

I did a loyal stint to the story line but now I just pick it up and go off looking for dragons to slay.

Just got the PS3 version since I had it on PC I wanted to play with a controller and got the game at a discount.

Its a little more fun and intuitive with a controller but god the load times on console are killing me.

skyrim is awesome, I've played it through numerous times. so have I with oblivion.
my personal favorite of a character, which was the first I made in both games, and have had a few of in each games, is a backstabbin, thievin, shady son of a bitch just staying in the shadow f*ckin things up from afar with my bow.
I am currently playing skyrim through as a mage - which is actually my first time as a mage in any elder scroll game

Skyrim is a fantastic game! 100's of hours gameplay and an open world that, quite frankly brings a tear to your eye. There is so much to do and a fully dynamic storyline that will make you a couch potato for the foreseeable future! lol

:P Tbh theres loads ive missed out in this description but you can probs sense the appeal!

It's a big world. If fetch quests = so much to do, then yes, there are a lot of fetch quests things to do.

"Find my helmet/shield/ring/book/sword in a random cave. There's no explanation as to how it got there, but hey, it's there, and i'll give you a random enchanted item for doing it, just like every other quest giver."

"Oh hey, you found it. Cool."

In all seriousness, MMOs have more variety, and less grinding, than Skyrim.

LSD that's ignorant as f*ck, there's always a story of how the NPCs lost their sh*t + the game isn't about the quests, it's about adventure.
personally I like sparkin up a big fat doobie and just explore the sh*t outta skyrim. the quests bring you to places in the world and brings you a purpose, instead of just killin the inhabitants of one particular area.

I agree with you there's many dull quests, but hey, no one asked you to help every damn person in skyrim. heck, slay the sh*t outta them instead

LSD always analyzes things just to push people's buttons.

As for exploration I went to most of the locations in the game before I ever started a lot of the quests. Got my ass kicked numerous times as a low level entering higher level dungeons I learned more early on and was killing giants with one arrow.

I'll admit I did use the Speech exploit to get to 100 speech since that makes leveling other skills 10x easier along with waiting 2 game days for stores to refill their stock.

hmm lets see $35 for ps3 version of skyrim or $50 for a 360 controller not including the adapter I'd need if it was wireless.

I went with the copy of skyrim and got the DLC cheap using a 30 day PSN plus trial

lol..
I thought my leveling went fast enough without anything like that, never even considered using it

I went to lvl 30-40 in no time by collecting every bit of item I could use for smithing, enchanting or alchemy.. eventually I became rich enough to also buy ever material and ingredient for sale wherever I went.. this also leveled my speech to 100 quite fast..

and on top of this I also ended up with some serious overkill weapons and armor early in the game..

curently have a bow with 350dmg, greatsword with 340dmg and a light armor with 1600total armor points without shield (not really any point in making that kind of armor tho, since totat points is capped at 575 so guess that one is just for show)

the speech exploit takes around 40 minutes to an hour, granted thats a long time it saves you A LOT of money in the long run and gives you around 5-8 player lvls.

There really is no backstory whatsoever.
"Hi i used to be in the legion and i lost my helmet please find it"
"Hi my husband died and lost his ring please find it"
"Hi i'd like to read a book please find it"
"Hi i lost my shield please find it"

The 10% of quests associated with the main story line are generally fleshed out, while the other quests are dull as f**k. All the guild quests are just as short and vague as well.

obviously the backstories are not as you say. if one wants to read a book, you would, for example, hear about the old ass wizard who wrote it, and why it's missing from the public eye. it's like that with all quests.
and to me, the guild quests are interesting as hell. atleast the first few play-throughs, but I suppose everything gets monotone and dull after several repetitions.

but it's obvious this game ain't for you, so instead of complaining like a girl who didn't get what she wanted, and potentially making people who love this genre, or this game series, back out of ever trying it - you should stick to whatever games you like instead.

to me, this is the problem with todays youngin - they all wanna talk the talk and get heard, and 90% of the f*cking time it's douchebaggery and complaining. I mean, if you don't like the game, why f*ckin play it? why f*ckin tell everyone the game sucks, when in essence it's YOU who don't like that particular game. you generalize, thus making people generalize instead of individually lookin at the given situation/game/whatever the f*ck.

I know every single one of us is entitled to a meaning, but that doesn't mean we have to express it every damn time something pops up in our heads.
and don't take this as flaming, this is me expressing my meaning

Yea, no it isn't. I'd ask what the f**k you were smoking while playing, but i think that's obvious given what you said earlier. I agree, Skyrim would be great f**king fun whilst stoned off your tits. There's at least 5 different shades of colours, some music, and some dragons for you to look it.
Wooooooaaaaaaaaahh, right?

Evidently you're easy to entertain.
"Welcome to the guild you are shit you're worth nothing even though you can kill dragons and shit oh wow look you did that quest for me now you're good but not that good haha oh wow our guild leader is dead now you're in charge well done"

That's the story of every f**king single guild (spoiler). The leader always dies, and after just a handful (4-5) incredibly short quests you're made leader.

as the forum couture I express my meaning in any way I wanna do it, just like you and everyone here is doing in every thread, even though one does not have any relation or knowledge on given topic - this not pointed at you.

that said, I agree with you, it's probably more entertaining for me to play skyrim while stoned, even though I've played many, many hours of elder scrolls sober as a muthafukkin nun in church.
but who says the game shouldn't be entertaining for me, even though you think it's lame as f*ck? I think it's great, and I love elder scrolls. I know both games are practically the same quest-wise, just in another land, country or whatever. but the history, the world and basically the whole atmosphere around it is so intriguing - to me atleast - that I just wanna continue unravel long lost legends, old ass tombs and mysteries I could never do like that in another game.

you don't like the game, and it's cool.. one mans trash is another mans come up I guess.

haven't attacked any giants lately, or have the dlc that give dragon bows yet..
but I'm pretty sure my stahlrim bow with 350 dmg with 50% chance of additional 120 magic dmg (and soul capture) should take out a giant quite easy aswell specially in sneak mode

When Skyrim first came out I thought it sounded kinda dumb. I tried playing Oblivion when that came out years ago and didn't like it at all, just couldn't get into it... But now that I'm older, I'm really starting to love RPG's.

So, I finally gave in and bought myself a copy of it a week or two ago, and I'm really loving the game. I don't understand how the game gets "repetitive" If you're bored and find yourself doing the same thing over and over, then stop doing it and go do something else - it's thats easy. You can go wherever you want to, whenever you want to, and can pretty much do whatever you want to.

My first time playing it I had no clue what to do, so I made one of those Argonian lizard people, and started off as a mage... I just kinda messed around w/ some spells I never saw in a game before like Clairavoyance which is great for showing you where to go when you're completely lost out in the middle of the woods. I think I played that guy up til around lvl 14 or so.

Then for my 2nd guy I started a new mage out and found out I really love the Conjuration spells when I discovered the "familiar" was actually a spirit wolf that would chase people around and attack them. I ended up playing that guy til around lvl 24, and will probably go through the entire game with him - he's pretty much a badass necromancer / summoner. So far I like the frost atronach things the best, combined with his bound sword and a warrior follower (Lydia I think?) that I have decked out in full enchanted steel plate armor.

But then I decided to take a break from that story line for a bit and play around with a few other ideas for a while, so I just started up a "cat-man" forget wtf they're called theif, and already ran into a completely new story line with him where I actually saved a werewolf from being killed by a group of hunters in a cave (I figured I was kinda like a werewolf myself) - that was before I was level 5... so I know I'll play that storyline a ton more too, loving that one...

then I just started another one today where I want to try and play a total "priest" where I don't attack anyone, I just let my followers do all the damage and I sit back and heal them. I love this idea even though I know almost everyone else hates it - and it will be incredibly hard to do it. So far all I managed to do with him was clear out the first iron mine / bandit camp up above white run to collect the bounty, and it must of took me like 10 tries to do it - I had to cheat to use a bunch of different spells to finally finish it, but I ended up finding a cool spell tome in there that I never saw in the game before that allows me to transmute iron ore into silver ore, and then silver ore into gold ore - so I'm basically guaranteed to be rich in that story.

Loving the game.

I just made one character and I've capped out most of the skills in the game

I made one set of armor that was so overpowered it made dragon fights too easy so I had to put it in storage and stick to using some basic steel armor to give the game a challenge now and then. I only bring out my OP daedric armor for the times when there is something I really have trouble defeating.
