Anyone ever waited for the price to go down on a game or console/handheld? if so do you try and get a pre-owned copy or do you prefer brand new?
I'm just curious because recently I just bought a new PS3 with 2 games bundle(Uncharted 3 and some Eve game) worth $230 but got a 20% discount making it $184 and the money I saved and bought the first two Uncharted games for just $35.
EDIT: After messing with it for 2 days and playing games I hate how you can't install them to the hardrive to improve the framerate which hangs up at times and the menus get a little confusing.....btw sixaxis controllers f**king suck and that feature pissed me off while playing Uncharted Drakes Fortune...
I used to by consoles within a few weeks of them hitting the shelves. But the 360 launch was the last time i did this. Over Thanksgiving I was tempted to get a discounted PS3 bundle but I can't justify it for the ability to play Drake's and MLB. Though I really really wish someone would get their shat together and make a decent multi platform baseball title. Anyway, what I'm saying is... SIX YEARS later, the console prices are reasonable.
Anymore, console launches have a complete lack of good titles, overpriced/underperforming hardware, and are likely to be outclassed by this generation for a period of months/ years.
So, I'm waiting on the next gen.
As for games, I love waiting a year or two and snatching up good titles for $5, $10, $15, $20. They all get down there eventually.

also the added benefit of waiting is you can get the Game of the Year versions which usually include DLC or add ons that otherwise would cost you the same amount as the game itself.
waiting has also saved me tons of cash since I would keep an eye on a game and see the reviews to know if it sucks so Ill know to wait till it hits the 5-10 dollar mark if I want to get it.
I usually just buy them straight away, not fazed about prices unless I'm particularly broke that week.
By the way for someone who cares about shit like that, maybe you should of researched the product before you brought it? Especially if you like to come into the forums to whine about it..
I go one better. I don't wait for the price to go down I just wait until they come out on playstation plus for free. I paid 50 quid a few months ago and I've racked up so many games already.
Currently I'm hoping that Dead Island will get on it. I like the look of it but not enough to pay. I could spend that money on food or some new socks and shit...

I want to buy a console but i don't know what to choose.
Xbox 360 or PS 3 or WiiU.
Please advice me which one should be selected.
Thanks
360 is at least in my opinion the more balanced of the three as far as gaming since the online features and interface is much more user friendly. Also the notorious RRoD issue isn't nearly a big of a problem as it used to be
PS3 is good for gaming and I love playing on mine don't get me wrong but its best quality is mostly for its blue ray and ability to read and play files from plugging in an external storage devices like a USB stick or external hardrive(very good if you pirate a lot of movies ). The Playstation Network isn't necessarily the most reliable and the functions for online play in terms of chatting with others isn't the most streamlined you'll see but it has some good quality games and larger library of classic games(mostly PS1 and PS2) along with titles from other consoles which the 360 doesn't have. If you get a PS3 i suggest you get a cheap wireless keyboard because trying to type a message with its crappy keyboard interface with a controller is a pain in the ass.
Wii U I'm not so sure about.....for me it just seems like another gimmick by nintendo when tablets out there are already much better than the WiiU and can do a lot more.
my PS3 was pre ordered and paid for 3 months before the release.. and because it had to be sent before it was released so that I'd be able to pick it up on the post office on release date, it actually arrived 1 day to early. so I can safe say that I was one of the very first people who had it

when buying new consoles for me....I usually buy them brand new so I get the box and everything with them and so I don't have to delete the memory of other ppl out of the system. However if the price is low enough and the system has the box and all I will sometimes buy them used. I do prefer new though to used.
Yep, I do! I can be very patient It's usually worth it in the end. T_T unless you wait too long and a new system comes out at the time you buy it. (Example: I was waiting for purple 3ds, bought green, and purple comes out).

I never cared for color much except for black consoles since black naturally absorbs heat.
Back when Gameboy pocket came out I got a yellow one and was made fun of by my classmates up until I kicked their asses in every game we played .

I'll get a sega saturn one day. Atm its still far to expensive for what you actually get
that's cause sega saturns are a good console and rare. It's easy to go on ebay sure....but you can't really find em out in the open at super fleas and classic stores. I would reccomend a sega dreamcast instead of a saturn. Dreamcast had really good games too.

Depends, sometimes you can tell which games will drop in value especially they become pre owned with a week or so. Ebay is the best bet as you can get the resale value execpt p&p which is only a few quid, all depends on the replay value tbh.
If i want the game badly, I usually buy them on the day of release, If it's something I'm interested in playing but not too bothered, I usually wait for it to go down.
