At the moment, the faction upgrade Vigor takes time off your hospital visit, with torn wiki saying that Vigor VII takes half an hour off...

I'm proposing a change to the way this upgrade works so that it takes off a %age of the cooldown that you accumulate when using medical items.

Current cooldowns
Small first aid kid = + 15 minutes
First aid kit = + 30 minutes
Morphine = + 60 minutes
Neumune tablet = + 360 minutes

Each upgrade for Vigor could take 5% off the cooldown time, and Vigor could then be a 10 stage upgrade (goes up to Vigor X) whereby medical items will then only have half the cooldown time when maxed.

This would then make Vigor actually worth something

Good luck on this one - reducing medical cooldowns by 50% when they're designed to stop players from morphing out repeatedly might not make it all the way through the wringer, as it's a bit overpowered (at best you'd want to be dialling down the effects a fair bit).

Having said that you're looking at two sides of the same coin here - reducing hospitalisation times (resulting in you needing to use less meds to morph out and thus allowing you to do so more frequently) produces the same net result as reducing cooldown times.

I personally think Vigor is fine in its current form (in terms of reducing hospitalisation times directly), as it benefits everyone, rather than the benefit being focused on players who frequently max out their medical cooldown timer (for whatever reason).

Vigor is an anti-special in its current form...

I agree. It is detrimental.

Why not have Vigor reduce booster and/or drug cooldown times instead?

I can see you're just fishing here, but I'll humour you and say that if you're going to go there then why not go a step further and say "why not just reduce booster and cooldown times period" instead?

Having Vigor reducing drug and booster cooldown times would be nice yes, but I doubt it's going to happen as I've mentioned several times in the past - the cooldowns are there to control the use of drugs and boosters, so Ched isn't going to limit us on hand and then mitigate the limits on the other (he's always been a "change it instead of trying to be cute and work around it" kind of guy).

I agree that a 50% reduction is probably too powerful - but I really like the concept in general. Even if it was only 1% or 2% an upgrade.
As stated Vigor currently has a negative effect on factions. It's not upgraded just because it isn't very good, but it actually harms your faction. It's like the Health&Fitness Bachelor.
Of course the cooldowns are there for a limit - but surely the current hosp reduce time is already fighting that restriction. The whole point of specials is to help you overcome limits and give you an advantage.

So you want to have your cake and eat it too then - hide in hospital longer when you do get hosped so that you don't get hit as often (I presume that's what you're referring to when you say that Vigor currently harms a faction), but be able to morph yourself out of hospital more often when you do want to get out.

To put the effects of Vigor into perspective the 30 minute reduction only allows you to be hit maybe once more per day on average, whereas being able to morph out more often with lower med item cooldown timers exposes you to more hits (I'd guess that a fair bit of the morphing out would happen during chains as opposed to during the lulls in between chains) - unless the opposing faction is warring around the clock then they probably wouldn't even take advantage of that potential extra hit against you that Vigor would produce a lot of the time.

Having said that if the effects were toned down a little more in the original suggestion to 1% or 2% per upgrade and/or perhaps capped at level V then it wouldn't be too bad I guess (you're only looking at slight buff then) - it certainly shouldn't be an "I win" 50% increase in the number of times you can morph out per day though.

Thanks for your feedback, Butters (and Hobbie)... Looking back, 5% is maybe a little high - perhaps 2-3% would be better suited. As stated, vigor at present is pretty undesirable and this change would definitely make it an upgrade that factions would consider...

So you want to have your cake and eat it too then

Is that not what all the other upgrades do already? They are supposed to be there to help benefit the faction and its members, no?
