The energy cap has received mixed reactions, so I propose that instead of an energy cap why not have a cooldown timer for chains. Once a chain has hit the 100 mark, you have to wait say another 2 hours before you can restart a chain. This way people can still stack energy for mugs, revives, training and warring but it limits the affect that it has and stops wars being won over night. It also will allow people who pull solo 100 chains to do so aswell.

Another idea that can combine with this is this; Because the elite faction warbases are so big, any faction that has been hit in the 100 chain, cannot be hit again for another, lets say, 4 hours. This again allows the faction being attacked to respond before the war is over and makes planning attacks more strategic.

Just an idea.

Edit:

Other idea suggest by David;

After X amount of respect is gained in one day then that is it for that day. Factions can continue the chain but no respect will be gained from it.

I do not like the cap Idea at all. Not everyone stacked just for chaining.

i would like to be able to do hits after reaching 100 too
this suggestion would also cap warring and make it even more useless

What if there was a kind of 'cooldown' but you can go below, but it would cause you to earn less respect?

Something like this.
Not only respect, but also bonus respect (bottem line would be around to 1/5 - 2/5th or something from the maximum)

This A nice idea, something like in the 2 hours cool down, you can still chain but you would get no bonuses and 1/4 - 1/2 respect or something like that.

Simply by recording the respect gained through war in a day, at the moment it is gained.

Every day, when the daily respect decay cron kicks in, the daily gain entry is recorded and older data is pushed one row in the past (and the oldest entry, from 30 days ago, gets deleted). The sum of active data is used as a reference for respect gained in the previous days. And if (PREVIOUS_DAYS_GAIN + TODAY_GAIN) equals or exceeds the cap (my example of cap was 5k or 10k), then no more respect can be gained today, or until the number goes down below the cap.

Concretely, this would encourage big factions to plan their wars ahead, and introduce training periods in their war cycle. Everyone else remain unaffected.

I prefer the cap... makes it more realistic. ^^

You can't sleep/rest/drink energy drinks a lot and expect to have lots of energy you wouldn't normally have in real life, eighter...
