Suggestion that should be fairly easy to implement and help to restore at least a small portion of the spirit of the game:
End a new player's protection immediately when the player joins a faction. When a player under new player protection applies for a faction, they should receive the following popup/confirmation message:
"Warning: You are currently protected for x (where x = number of remaining protected days) days. If you choose to join a faction, you will lose this protection immediately upon acceptance by the faction to which you have applied!
- Continue - Go Back"
I'm not arguing that new players should be attacked by older players across the board, but I do feel that if they join a faction (and given that there are no longer peaceful factions), they should no longer be protected.
Simple cause and effect: They want to join a faction, they should be prepared to be warred.
Nothing more annoying then looking in your war base and seeing someone to hit for a bonus so then the junior players can get merits for 10, 25, 50, 75 and 100th attack just for them to come back all panicky because their target is a noob....
If something like this was to be implemented. I think it should let the people know before they do this. Also I think some people will try to lure new players into factions just so they can place a bunch of bounties on them. I personally felt that they should have taxed the bounty system for the people who abused it. Like putting bounties on any level 1 they could see and it filling up 27 pages. Which only cost around 8 million. That is the problem and most likely why that new player protection was put in.
I like this. I do have one slight tweak to take care of DrZed's concern. Instead of removing it all perhaps remove their protection status from factions that are not at war with their current faction (and enable it again if they leave as long as their protected from the majority) . This would make it so factions could punish those who join factions and then start acting undesirable. Of course this makes it more complicated to add on it would mean the player really had to make someone really mad to war faction over it.
R+ man, as a bare minimum I'd hope for a "Okay - Newbie Protection" instead of just Okay. That'd avoid needless checking through factions to see which are attackable...
Done. New users in a faction will now lose that protection when they join a faction automatically. If they leave the faction they'll get it back for the remainder until they are 15 days old. There's no real way to give a clear warning to the player, currently they don't even know they have 14 day protection unless they're told.
