This is a simple list of some suggestions to improve the forums which is the only real area of torn that hasn't had an update even though its one of the more popular things that a lot of players use.

Clickable Post Count
The Situation
Normally to view the recent posts of a player you have to go to their profile and then click post count.
The Solution
Well why not make it so you can click the post count shown in the forums so as to provide a convenient little feature for people to use without having to go to a player's profile to view their recent posts.
This would be really convenient for those on mobile devices

Multi-Quote Feature
The Situation
Anyone who has been in the forums long enough will know that when trying to quote multiple people it can be a little annoying especially if you're trying to reply quickly in a very active thread.
The Solution
Simple fix would be to allow players to select multiple posts to be quoted when they go to reply to the thread so they don't have to copy and paste so many quotes or to keep re-editing their post.
Below you will notice a small button beside where the Quote feature is well this is the feature that will allow for multi quoting.

Adding BBcode Tables
The Situation
Currently the BBcodeoptions available when replying is somewhat limited.
The Solution
Simple fix is to add drop down tables for each method of bbcode to make things easier and all bbcode to be more easily usable.
This will also cut down on those always asking how to use bbcode.

Adding a Tutorial sub-section under Questions
The Situation
Throughout the forums there are tutorials scattered all over and a lot of the time there are some good ones over the years that are purged after being inactive for a certain amount of time.
Sometimes the fact that they're scattered can cause them to be hard to find if you're trying to quickly help a player in the questions section.
The Solution
The way to remedy this small issue is to create a Questions sub-section dedicated for Tutorials to allow players to quickly share and find the information that they need.
Another way it could help is if someone posts a question like me for example where i ask about a weapon and someone can go into Tutorials and easily find it and link it for me. This way it would be a hell of a lot easier than digging for a certain tutorial thread that is somewhere on the forums.

It's a shame this is still here. It wouldn't take up any of the devs time admin could deal with this and how long would it take? 5 maybe 10 minutes. I can't see any downsides to this. Clansy has said in the past she detests stickys and this is a way of removing them from the main forum. |

Preview option for Forum Signatures
The Situation:
Currently if you go to your Settings Forum Information and make changes to your forum sig there is no way to check it without going to view one of your posts in the forum. This can be a bit of an annoyance for some people but if you're using a mobile device it can be a real pain in the ass.
The Solution:
My suggestion is to add a Preview Button to the Forum Information page to allow people to make changes to their forum signature and they can then click ts "Preview Signature" button to be taken to a prompt page which will show how it looks and ask you if you want to save these changes. select No and you're taken back to the Forum Information edit page but click yes and the changes are saved
This preview button idea can also be applied to other areas of the game as Nateyah describes below.

Good idea. We need a "Preview" button in a few places. Faction Announcement Page, Postings to Forums, etc. I want to know what I'm doing is correct the first time. So I don't have to go back and edit all of it.
That may sound like I'm just trying to be lazy, but its really hard to make posts and update stuff on my mobile. So if I can take the extra few seconds to preview anything before making a change, I am very grateful as any edits to errors have to wait until I get home on the "real computer" otherwise.
And the more gas prices go up and cell phone prices go down, more people are going to be logging in to play this game on the go. So you will see a lot more people wanting to do it right the first time because editing on a small screen is a pain in the ass. |

Change your rating on a thread
The Situation:
Its happened to all of us at one point but say you accidentally rated a thread  or  and can't change it because its been "locked in" and cannot be changed.
My Suggestion:
Allow players an unlimited amount of time to change their rating one time before its locked in and becomes unchangeable to allow a player to fix their mistake.
Its a common issue among mobile users for this to happen which is the main reason why im suggesting this because a lot of players nowadays use mobile devices where it mistakes can easily be made(especially on touch screen phones).

woops, I'll fix that
the last suggestion is more for certain sections like the Graphics, Suggestions, Game Acheivements where editing the OP is common and some people change their minds.
Its mostly beneficial for suggestions where overall opinion is gauged by the suggestion and its rating.

Nice updates , i'd like most of them
But one that I really want to see is a checkbox with "Alert me when someone replies"
and you get a message or event ( whatever can be coded more "easy" )
I'd like that , when you post a suggestion or question it willl defenately help .

Couple people have suggested it but there was always negative opinion about it so I'm not going to suggest it.
Personally I don't want the feature because If I'm interested in a thread I just remember to check it later on.

I think we shouldn't have a separate page, as that's pretty much the same as clicking "yes" then going to your profile. Rather pointless. Instead we should either have a full text area update with WYSIWYG (What you see is what you get - google it) editors or alternately a JavaScript "preview" box underneath the text box. Either one - Shouldn't be on for mobile torn.

My version is more of a general idea based upon how the game is setup so if its put into the game Ched will more than likely change it up to work the way he wants.
Overall I'd just want to have a preview option for forum signatures and maybe have it to preview a post to see if you made any errors before posting.

Well all of these features are common on almost any forum you see on the internet.
I believe Ched was asked a few times and said that he preferred a simplistic style forum but he should consider updating the forums to make them easier to use.

Forum upgrades would be good since so much of the game revolves around the forums.
I don't think there should be any pussyfooting around with individual minor updates though, the forum software needs a complete overhaul - all new software.
