Not sure if your remarks are meant to be funny or not, Jennifer...

The film, while dated and contrived is still relevant today in my opinion. It was created during a time when the communist threat was very real... just ask the Kulaks, and the occupants of the gulags, or the victims of Mao's Cultural Revolution... millions and millions of victims as a matter of fact.

It is easy to think that the threats of communism are laughable today, especially when the government of the USA is essentially thumbing it's nose at the Constitution... all in the name of national security, but those threats were at the forefront of the national conscience in 1962, on the heals of the Pay of Pigs fiasco, and the Russian Missile Crisis being only recent events.

My remarks can be taken as humour, or relevant. There may have been a bit of both intended there. I may have just been encouraging people to stop and think, to look at the Red Menace for what it is.

That is a notable piece of DoD propaganda, and may perhaps be more relevant today than when it was released, though not to those who made it. The point of the film is that it is the fault of Americans what America does. Americans elect the very representatives they complain about.

If Americans do nothing, and expect the Government will do nothing, then the outcome is inevitable. So far that has been the case. Most Americans know that politicians represent the special interest financiers that fund both major parties in a two-party system. Inactivity leads to more of the same. China has a LOT of U.S. dollars in surplus. Think its out of the question that they could buy off both parties? I don't.

DoD propaganda for sure... but justifiable and necessary propaganda. Too bad we don't have similar propaganda now. Instead we have mindless drooling youths, who are devoid of most feelings of national pride, and a complete disinterest for the most part in attaining any, and who can really blame them, when all they hear about their own government is the details of how it is working to diminish those aspects of our national values that once held importance? Why believe in a hollow lie?

China and the USA are most likely on a collision course, as these things are usually unavoidable at a certain point when there are two competitors of a global nature. The Chinese are essentially prepping their officer corps for this inevitability, while they send their best and brightest to the USA and the west for education... and we happily provide it in an effort to pad our nests... nests that the 1.3 billion Chinese will surely have an interest in plundering if they can.

The Chinese don't have to buy off people in our government (though they likely are), because our government is inept and unable to work together... all the Chinese have to do is continue to sell us cheap crap to keep our consumers happy until they have attained all our wealth, and then sit back and watch us implode due to the combined burden of our inability to make things ourselves, and our ever growing social welfare system that isn't being funded by actual working people.

Nationalism is not the answer, but pride in ones nation is a good quality to have... of course that pride needs to be had due to quality efforts and deeds done by the nation in question.
