I wanna hear the benefits of being in the EU, because quite frankly I don't believe we should be in the EU. As all they do is make laws that we have to go by, like giving prisoners the right to vote and now banning menthol cigarettes.

Britain did sign a treaty, the Treay of Rome, under uder which Britain is committed to an ever closer Union.

Pacta sunt servanda.

AFAIC, there is no method too extreme to deal with those who even contemplate looking for wiggling space.

What's the name of those people who go by what the news says? The news are fear-mongering mongrels, but what are the c**ts who follow those fear-monger-ers? Mongoloids?

UK Separation from the EU is what Scottish separation is from the UK. Or southern scession from the USA for that matter.

Treason!

No doubt the Daily Fail is ranting about the supposed [imagined?] failings [if any] of Milliband Senior to divert attention from the observation that the Daily Fail itself is a collective of treacherous vipers.

That's why I'm voting UKIP, I want out of the EU. Sorry but you don't see the UN saying oh you have to make that illegal now, they just make you go by human rights which is understandable as we want the world to be a better place.

Sounds like a problem for the UK so i'll keep my American nose out of it.

But why in the hell would anyone give prisoners the right to vote ( doesn't take a brain surgeon to figure out how that would go wrong for ya, + does that not defeat the whole purpose of being a prisoner?) & why ban menthol cigs? If that's the case could you just not ban all tobacco? I can take a listerine breath strip & make my cigs taste mentholated for f**ks sake.

Half of Europe, as in former Warsaw Pact, has a history of using jails to 'temporarily remove' people who vote for the Opposition.

In Britain, of course, we have the Mental Health Act.

Nothing bad against America, I'm just saying use don't need a group of people saying your running your country wrong.

No doubt a little city-republic in the Disunited Provinces, as Sir William Temple called it,felt it was entitiled to its independence. But History pays no heed to your desires.
If you dislike getting bossed about, tough cheese.

It's one of those things so terribly plain from studying Britain's post-War history.

From the American viewpoint, it did not enter the 2nd World War to entertain your fancies.
Suez was the last pretence, called off once Washington growled.

You will be told and you will obey - after a token hissy-fit. That's life.

No one who matters - including the President of the United States - is in the mood to be indulgent towards you.

The only bad side effect of leaving the EU would be the trade tariffs they would impose on us.

The EU is communist ie they want to make everybody equal. That is why France, Germany, Britain prop up the 'loser' countries with the EU budget. Communism doesnt work.

The commie trade tariffs would be pretty hard though and would effect our exports to the rest of europe quite a bit.

If you think BBC News 24 is commie check out Euro News the news channel of the european union

Themore important is that ther is algal and binding obligation to carry out traty obligations without bitching, moaing or whining.

Agitation against the EU is not different from agitation against Nato in the Cold War days.

Treason - which merits summary hanging from the nearest lamppost.
That's the way to deal with seditious renegades.

I think prisoners should have a vote. They still live in our land, if they don't voice their concerns, who will do it for them? Right wing parties like UKIP? Hmmm... It's not like prisoners will make a majority.

(And I'd just like to point out the irony in the fact that government officials have been caught in hundreds of scandals in which they have broken the law (international or home-ground) and haven't been locked away. Sure, let's strip prisoners of their right to vote but not lock up the people we vote into government when they cock up. Which one seems more important?)

A fair compromise could definitely be met. Revoke serious criminals' rights to vote, allow those that will see the sky in a couple of years to vote. I'm fairly sure that's what they do in Germany and France. To use a blanket rule for something as varied as criminals seldom works.

UKIP is a shit party which has struggled with racist members for as long as it's been about.

Menthol cigarettes are dirty.

I don't see the problem with Europe, it's sweet that we get cheap trade deals with the countries closest to us, it's sweet that we can go live somewhere else indefinitely without having strange laws about the money we make and the jobs we can have. If we pulled away, you could be sure that all the benefits would stop and Europe would actively make it more difficult for us.

The UK isn't a global super power, we do well because of our partnerships with the world. The market in Europe bolsters our businesses and makes it super easy for us to thrive. Thinking that the 'mighty Britannia' of old would be able to go it alone, would be the down fall of the country. We don't have slaves any more and we're not allowed to feed other nations drugs in order to conquer them.

I'm very pro-Europe, anti-UKIP.

I think the EU as it stands is no longer giving us maximum benefit. Currently the EU is the largest economy on the planet, yet a lot of that money has to be spent on keeping countries like Greece and Spain from bankruptcy. Anyone see the top gear episode where they went to Spain with all the brand new abandoned property and the new and probably unused airport? That's what you're paying for in the EU.

I wouldn't mind leaving the EU (which would probably finish it anyway) and reform an economic collaboration with France, Germany, and maybe Italy.

UKIP's not racist because you're black.
You're not preaching because you were born in a labour household.

I'm not one for searching wikipedia for different types of fallacies but I'm fairly sure these two would fit in the list somewhere.

UKIP are far more right-wing than most people who support them seem to think. Most of the problems faced by Britain are answered (by them) with 'If we just left the EU'. Their other policies are stupid. They want to reintroduce the poll tax (a flat rate- 31% tax for everyone in the country, regardless of pay. That would be a huge reduction for the richest and a huge tax raise for the poorest. 31% of 1000 a month is 310, leaving 690 to 'live off' whereas 31% of 1000000 a month it's 310000, leaving 610000 to live off. Far more comfortable, I hope you'd agree.)

The first thing it says to introduce their official website from a Google search of 'UKIP' is "Libertarian, non-racist party seeking Britain's withdrawal from the European Union." I find it strange that the second word they use is 'non-racist'.

"Hi, I'm Aled. I'm English, non-racist and want to make new friends." It seems a bit fishy doesn't it?

They're a horrible party. If you look at the EDL's website, it's written just as convincingly as UKIP's. They also claim that they're not racist. They're not as dangerous though, because they don't get treated as a real political party.

It's not racist. It is however xenophobic, and scaremongering, effectively a political representation of the journalist hack-rag that is the Daily Mail.

They like to ignore the causal effects of Thatcherite policies, and instead insist the boogeyman man of the UK is the immigrants, the unemployed and Islam. Although the Tories are equally as bad when it comes to this.

Out of all the things you could have picked, you chose menthol cigarettes and prisoner votes as reason to secede from the EU? That alone displays your lack of understanding of what being part of the EU actually entails.

Having said that, the EU is not something to be taken lightly either, along with its benefits come quite a lot of drawbacks too, in my country's case, no sovereign currency, having our finances dictated to us by Brussels... Like any political organisation it is certainly not perfect, but neither are any. I'm not British, so I'm not fully clued up in their personal relationship with the EU, but I would certainly suggest looking further into it than "menthol cigarettes".

Racist views? Maybe not. They have a spin doctor. Racist members? There are a plethora. The leader himself was openly racist throughout school (a privately educated man in one of the best schools in the country leading a party for working folk... sounds great.)

They're also sexist (and you can't even say you're a woman, with a name like Mrbateman) since every woman that has been an official member has left/ been fired. And said that Farage is a bully and anti-female.

You're clearly not going to read up about them. So you can do whatever you like. If you truly wanted to be educated you would at least read about controversies surrounding them (several of their candidates having to be thrown out for racism, several links to other far-right parties in Europe, their inability to form basic concepts beyond leaving the EU).

Remember that just because a party has some support, it doesn't mean they're sound. They're extremists by the very definition of the word. Reasonable people see their flaws, but with enough desperation the rational can think irrationally. That's why they're dangerous.

Oh sorry, I read it wrong. No women members is ridiculous. I should have said MEPs, which is only 9 people to be fair. Their previous female members were sacked or fired. Look up Nikki Sinclaire.

I don't like UKIP, you like them. I honestly don't see why. Perhaps you feel the same. But I always say, there's no smoke without fire- so many people write and talk about how awful UKIP's plans and policies are that it can't all be false. They blow their own trumpet loudly but no one else heralds them at all.

Just looking at their own website should be enough to show anyone they're nonsensical: www.ukip.org/issues/2013-01-25-10-55-7/local-2013

So many contradictions in their manifestos. It's clear they're just listing things off that annoy people. Got a problem with immigrants? UKIP. Don't like shitty roads? UKIP. Don't like no choice in schools? UKIP. Don't like libraries closing down? UKIP. Don't like green energy? UKIP. Want to protect the green belt? UKIP. Don't like rising taxes? UKIP.

Cut costs- We believe that council taxes should go down, not up, especially when times are tough and people are finding it hard to make ends meet. That means finding ways of delivering services more cost-effectively, not just automatically cutting service delivery.

How UKIP, how? They still want to build more schools, build more hospitals, introduce a board of medical specialists for the elderly, improve roads as a priority, refuse wind turbines, preserve areas of natural beauty, restore and reopen libraries. None of this is free. The current government doesn't just shut off these services on a whim.

Also, I don't bounty people anonymously. I could beat you easily on this game, but this is a game and it means little. I prefer to talk to people!
