We have one of the highest incarceration rates for sex offenders in Western Europe.

Just sayin

Which begs the question: is the application of incarceration sufficient to ensure compliance with Law?

Obviously, I agree with the first part.
I disagree with the last part of your statement.

Protecting the innocent is a valid concern.
Protecting the guilty is no matter worthy of consideration.

Inconveniently enouhg, we haven't got an equivalent of Siberian workcamps - a place where the miscreant stays alive but will derive no satisfaction from that.

But there is of course the possibility of mistrial - in the sense that the wrong person may be found guilty.
In that aspect only lies - from a secular point of view - lies the argument for NOT using capital puishment.

Question remains: is that argument adequate?
I would argue that is contingent upon the nature of the crime we seek to stop.

You are confusing the justice system with retribution.

Actually, I think you got it the wrong way around. You assumer that a person made a mistake, pays a price, and that settles the matter. >That< is retribution.

A person broke a law, and in a non-trivial manner. Let's say he killed someone.
What steps do you propose to take to ensure that this person never ever sets a foot wrong again?
He broke the Law omce - how can we be assured that that person never ever errs again?

Prison is not the answer, castrate them and tell them to f**k there human rights, they lost them when they commtitted the offence, rights for victims in this case. I don't care for do gooders who defend sentences etc, children rely on adults for protection, they cannot defend themselves against an attacker like an adult can. Castrate rapists too, but thats another subject.

sadly enough i can't disagree with that statement. One has to wonder why someone with a 1/4 lb. of weed often gets more time than a child rapist.

I believe there should be different levels of paedophilia, does someone 17 year old who slept with a 14 year old (willingly) deserve a maximum sentence? By the letter of the law he is a rapist and a paedophile. What about a pedo who has a few images of girls aged 14-15 on his computer but never intends nor has actually touched a girl at this age. Obviously for the higher level paedophiles they deserve a life sentence (Not death.) Its not worthy of the death penalty considering that people used to have relations with young people in medieval times

Your government needs a nice petition website like mine has.

You mean that country where when a 17yr old boy and a 17yr old girl fall in love and at some point have sex that 17yr old might be marked for being a pedophile for the rest of his adult life? Yeah you folks got it all covered now dont ya?

pedophiles should be shot or beheaded, not given higher sentences..

I don't believe in the death sentence as I don't believe it is anyones right to decide who dies or gets to live.

But in the extreme, torture can be worse than death. Although unjust mass murder would probably be the only reason someone should be tortured.

In my view, people who commit rape willingly deserve death, and pedos deserve a very hefty sentence.
