Usually you hate anything this man says or is about, but if you agree with it then it becomes the truth? Did i misunderstand your statement boss?

Usually Irsay talks out of his ass about nonsense and things not related to football. But he did actually say something football related and accurate this time so yes, I agree with him. I don't just blindly disagree with people for the hell of it, it's directly related to what they say and do. In this case, Irsay said something normal, and he's one of the only people I've heard in the league or media that actually called it like it is regarding Peyton and the playoffs. Sure, he's only doing it because he's not happy that he is playing so well with Denver now, but his statements are true nonetheless.

Yes, Brady had a bad game. I've said it about probably 10 times so far, this Patriots team is not that good, and it's a small miracle we have won 5 games so far. Brady is having a sub-par season, and the entire offense has yet to really come together right now. Pretty terrible game for Brady, and me being in Korea I haven't had a chance to watch everything yet so I can't really comment on what actually happened. But yes, Brady didn't show up today and we have now lost two games this year as a result of it.

Now I'll do my impression of if I was a Cowboys fan and this happened to Brady: Please! Not Brady's fault. He was pressured and harassed, defense gave up 30 points to the lowly Jets, and we're missing a pro-bowl roster on defense with Mayo, Wilfork and Talib all out, plus Amendola and Vereen are still out on offense and it was Gronkowski's first game back. And the refs hate the Patriots, obviously biased against them with that bogus last second call that directly influenced the outcome of the game on the missed FG on 4th down. Don't blame Brady! It is everyone else's fault in the stadium other than Brady!

Hmm I think I did a pretty good job as a Cowboys apologist there

Seriously, Indy just beat a THIRD "powerhouse" team, are the Colts still not legitimate contenders and the Patriots are?

Spazzy, where have I said in this thread the Patriots are serious contenders this year? I have said they are playing much better (up until this last game) than msot people have expected so being 5-1, and I said there is still no reason to think NE can't get better and go 11-5 or 12-4 but where have I said they are legitimate contenders? Making up counter arguments for yourself is a lot easier than actually looking what people are saying, huh?

And good for the Colts, they've stepped up and won some big games. I believe the last time I said the Colts weren't contenders was after their Week 2 loss at home to Miami, heading into a game against SF that I think most people picked against IND. But they;ve stepped up, and gotten better. At this point, they're probably as big of contenders in the AFC as anyone else, as no one other than DEN has really separated from the pack, but IND now can probably say they are a favorite as well.

And this just goes to show, once again, how difficult it is to go undefeated Manning should be ashamed of himself for losing this game. It was in his previous home, he knows how loud it gets, he's a great QB anyways and shouldn't be as rattled by noise in the first place and he has an incredible group of offensive players around him, and I'm sorry but they shouldn't have lost to IND. Colts may be a lot better than I thought, and are contenders now, but Denver should beat them.... in the regular season anyways.

I think what I said was mostly related to Luck himself, where he needed to improve greatly for them to be serious contenders, and said that they should be contenders, but they were inconsistent (which they were/are, beating good teams and losing to bad teams), but this last W tips them over the edge. Sorry but this a professional league where teams don't just get respect for nothing. The Colts haven't done anything since 2009 and have a lot of new players on their team now, so don't expect many people to assume the Colts are great before they start making some statements. It's sort of like KC, where they;re the only 7-0 team right now but they're not getting a whole lot of respect across the league. Wayne going down is a tough blow, but don't expect any sympathy from me or anyone else, for that matter

I know you were being sarcastic but we really are playing with no receiving corps whatsoever. I mean 2nd and 3rd stringers have just stepped up. Geno Smith is also giving me reason to believe he can be the long term answer for QB. He has a cannon for an arm, is accurate, and knows when to pass and when to run, and when he does run, he runs tough - all things i love. Now he just needs a pro-bowl wide receiver.... santonio holmes is always hurt, and he's not really a pro bowl, he would make a really good WR2, like as a complement to someone else.

I know the Jets are playing with a shitty team, that's nothing new and you don't need to explain that to me but this years' Patriots aren't what we're used to. Losing Wilfork and Mayo up the middle may be too much to overcome for this defense that has been terrible at defending the pass for years but has been good at run defense... until we lost our two best run stoppers for the year. And Talib was our only good CB, who was out last week. So the defense is in shambles pretty much. I'm honestly surprised a team hasn't thrown for 600 yards on us yet. I would literally throw 80% of the time against NE, regardless of who was at QB. If the Jets could ever get their shit together (doubtful), they could really have a little run at something in the AFC this year. But they're the Jets, so they will probably lose 4 out of the next 5 games now or something.

nah the jets should go 9-7 this season. It's reasonable... if they were more consistent id say 10-6, but I'm more realistic than optimistic - im thrilled to be honest - i mean i thought they'd go 7-9 before season started... and that was best case scenario

The Jets have definitely played much better than anyone thought--drastically better than I thought, but I think 9-7 is their best case scenario. You;ve got a kind of rough schedule coming up, playing CIN, NO and BAL all in the next few weeks, and you still have 3 divisional games left. You do have OAK and CLE coming up, which should both be wins (but knowing the Jets, you never know). But other than that, any of the rest of the games this year they are liable to drop. It's not as if the Jets have been playing that well in the first place and we can give them the benefit of the doubt. They've played better than we thought, but not really... good, by any means, and haven't had the toughest of opponents so far.

against who? Miami, Buffalo???? lmao

cinci is winnable,

new orleans is the only game im really scared of - rob ryan being the defensive coordinator of the saints could give rex a one up to help prepare geno - but it works both ways.

Baltimore will be one of those close games that gets decided in the 4th qtr - they haven't been impressive this season.

Well the Jets have lost 3-4 divisional games three out of the past four years, so I wouldn't necessarily put it past them to drop a game. Again, you're confusing the Jets playing better than expectations to the Jets playing good. A 9-7 team, if they win that many games, is the definition of inconsistent. And let's be real, the Jets did lose to the Titans and Steelers, who are a combined 5-8 right now.

the steelers are much better than their record and u know it, the titans - well the jets dropped the ball there, but it was early and geno was still finding his footing and confidence

and while im at it, the jets smashed on the patriots in the 2nd half. the bills were the other team to do it, and we did it while u had gronk. I dont wanna hear it. lol. The jets are set up nicely for the next 5 yrs or so, once brady is gone, the patriots are f**ked unless they tank a season like the colts did when peyton went down and draft a superstar qb

No, the Steelers are exactly what their record is. They are old and have been declining for a while now and this is their year to hit bottom. It's been a few years coming. Name recognition is all the Steelers have going for them at this point.

And yes, you beat the Pats, but the patriots aren't a good team this year. Their record is better than they really are. And what, Geno Smith playing early in the year is a cop out, but Gronkowski's first game back all since last year is expected to be perfect? Haha little hypocrisy there. I don't really want to think about LAB (Life After Brady) right now, because I still think Brady has a shot at winning a title before it's all said and done. He's slowing down a little, and maybe this is the first year we've really seen it. But half of that can be attributed to having a lot of rookies around him, plus his declining abilities, so it's not good. But this year is pretty wacky, with all the changes and off-season happenings. No reason to think the Pats still can't improve and finish 11-5 or MAYBE 12-4, maybe win a playoff game but I don't think much will happen, but then get better next year and contend.

Alright, so we're halfway through the year. Time for some power rankings. Top 5 in each conference! And, once again, I'm thinking the AFC is full of teams that look a lot better than they really are... so it's hard to pick. Buuuut...

AFC
1) Denver Broncos - They may not be as great as they appear (they're not), but in this conference they have enough to win
2) Kansas City Chiefs - They've had an easy schedule, but it's not their fault the AFC sucks. Their defense is for real
3) Cincinnati Bengals - Dalton and Green are a good combo, their division isn't good
4) New England Patriots - Nothing special, but they keep finding ways to win. Eventually expect Brady to look good
5) Indianapolis Colts - Finally giving them respect, but at 5-2 with an ok offense and ok defense, there's nothing special

NFC
1) New Orleans Saints - With the injury to SEA, they get bumped up. Good record, good offense, good defense. I'll take them
2) San Francisco 49ers - Not really sold on Kapernick getting better, but they still have good defense and offense mostly
3) Seattle Seahawks - Dropping quick until they prove they wont miss Rice. Their defense can win games, but is that enough
4) Green Bay Packers - I feel like they should be higher, but they just don't intimidate like they used to
5) Detroit Lions - Very steep drop off after 4, but I guess with Johnson on the team, it puts them over the edge

I put the 49ers number 2, so pah-lease with you trying to say I'm somehow disrespecting them. But I don't know, what is Kaepernick doing that is special this season? 57% CMP, 1,584 YD 9 TDs, 5 INTs... nothing crazy on rushing. Just average. Brady has almost identical stats to him, and there's been an awful lotta talk about how bad Brady looks, and I've been saying Brady is playing average this year. So I'm definitely not overselling Kaepernick when he was the same stats.

And their big 5 game win streak? They've beat JAX, TEN, HOU, STL and ARI. Not exactly powerhouse teams... And they lost to the Colts and Seahawks, two contenders. Saints haven't really beaten anyone either.. it's been a weird year, half the league is under .500 it seems like (probably realistically pretty close to that number, actually). But I think I'll pick Brees over Kaepernick, and that gives them the edge.

Don't really see how Rice being hurt is gonna take that much of a toll on the Seahawks. 8 Games in and he only has 15 catches and 230 yards and his season best was 5 for 79 in a blowout. Granted the only good teams they've played were the Niners and Colts, I still think they're the team to beat in the NFC. And who have the Saints beaten to take the 1 slot over them? They lost to a team you ranked 4th in a weak AFC (your words) and beat no one of mention. The Hawks are 7-1 and beat the team you ranked above them.

Not gettng your logic this go round.

I agree 100% with Bosox, i like the saints over the seahawks, i think the saints win if they play in playoffs. I'm also not buying on Kaep yet, he looked legit last year, but im starting to think the Niners should've kept Alex Smith. Can't wait to watch the Colts and chiefs play in a few weeks, that'll be a good test as to how good both teams really are.

Crow, because it's more than just W-L record sometimes, otherwise why bother with rankings and just have the top 5 records in the league and do tie-breakers of point differential to determine which teams are better. And the Seahawks looked like the team to beat in the NFC, but the injury to Rice is big. SEA doesn't really have a strong passing threat; their leading WR is averaging 55 Y/G. Golden Tate isn't even that good of a WR, and with Rice gone, that's just one more person a defense doesn't have to worry about paying attention to and can devote even more coverage to stopping the run or giving safety help to Tate. The pitiful Rams came damn close to beating them, and largely because the Rams were able to control their offense, and none of us would put the Rams up there with a good defensive team. The only good team SEA has beaten was the 49ers, a divisional rival so, again, you can throw those out in terms of meaning because those games can usually go either way regardless of record or talent.

None of the good teams have really matched up this year, apart from the Colts playing a couple contenders, so it's hard to gauge. This year there is a HUGE gap between the good teams and everyone else. So until we start seeing some of these teams play each other, it's hard to get a feel over this. But the Saints have been Super Bowl contenders for a while, minus their last season with all the suspensions and whatnot, so I have to rank them up there again. The 49ers just... don't have the same presence about them that they did in previous years. They're running out the same offense and, in this league, defenses pick up on even the greatest of offenses eventually. Kaepernick is kind of just meddling around and not improving his play, and is relying on the same things to win, and unless you are simply one of the greatest OR you can adapt, that;s not going ot cut it.

Bo, the 9ers will have Crabtree, Manningham, Aldon Smith and I think Eric Reid will be well healed after a minor leg injury against the Jags. Two more weapons that Kaep likes to throw to and 2 very good defense guys. The 9ers look like they will be hard to beat in the 2nd half of the season.

As for Aldon playing...the NFL won't do anything to him until he gets done with his legal proceedings. I hope the judge is a 9er fan and puts the next court date in March or April

Go Buc's!!
