I expected a better game than this. Not a win, but a darn good game.

The only real concerning thing for SF is the fact their defense is what has cost them today and nearly did last week. League's best defense has allowed 69 points in the past 2 games, or 66 in the past 5 quarters really, and that's got to be concerning. I still wont count of their defense going forward, but if you guys aren't playing at the elite level on D you have all year, there could be a very quick and disappointing exit in January.

I'll take a road trip to Dallas or Washington in the first round. It's not like they get beat down on the road. They lost 3 because of late 4th Q drives when Bradley went to the soft prevent crap. 2 game road win streak.
Goddamn.... I swear, the ONLY reason ANY AFC team ever wins a SB is because the NFC beats itself up too much in our playoffs, or just getting to the playoffs, to play healthy and full force in the Super Bowl.
EVERY year in the AFC it's "well these are the 2 or 3 best teams, so one of them is going to the Super Bowl. BUT, who will get the bye?????"
EVERY year in the NFC it's "Well almost every division is wide open, they're all competitive and you never know what's gonna happen. If __ loses to ___ and _____ beats ___ then ___ will go to the playoffs, but if ____ beats ___ and ____ loses to ____ then _____ will get a wild card. But if ____ loses to or beats ____ then ____ can't play ____ for the wildcard, but ____ losing to _____ could still give _____ a hope for the wild card.
Well, today ____ beat _____ and now ______ are fighting for a wild card but they still need ______ to lose to _______ in order for them to get a wild card.....
All I hope is that the Pats face the _____ and the _____ is still healthy enough from the actual competition they face in the NFC to beat the living hell out of them.

Hawky, the Seahawks are 3-5 on the road this year, and that is very not impressive, seeing as one of those road wins came against Chicago who, as we saw, wasn't as good as they appeared, by going 1-5 over a stretch after they started 7-1.
And Crow, it's no secret the NFC is deeper this year. Hard to argue between the top teams in each conference, but I think any given 4-8 seed in the NFC is probably better than the 4-6 seeds in the AFC. If anything, though, there's just more turnover in the NFC playoffs, as the Pats, Steelers and Colts account for 10 out of the previous 11 AFC champions. As opposed to the Packers, Giants, Seahawks, Saints, Cardinals, Bucs, Bears, Panthers, Eagles and Rams all making appearances in The Big Game. Just seems no NFC team has pulled much away from the pack, as the conference is deeper.
And see Crow, you're the only one with the real flat out biased against a team. You just only want to see the Pats lose, which is ok. But I don't really care much if the Cowboys win or lose a game....
Though it will be interesting watching how Romo plays with the season on the line next week against a pretty good Redskins team. Let's see if he can have another great game, or if he will collapse under the pressure and throw 3 first half picks that all lead to points.
seattle is that sleeper team in the nfc though - they can be scary at times. i honestly think green bay has best shot to super bowl from nfc as of right now. just my personal opinion... cuz it is debatable
Ehh, I'm really not buying all of this Seattle hype. They're a team that cannot win on the road, so seeing as they're a WC, I don't see much reason to panic. I know they're on a streak of producing insane offense, but let's be real: they did it against Buffalo and Arizona for the 50+ games. the SF game was legit, and that's a big boy win and I wont take anything away from them there, but I just don't see them as a real threat--especially on the road. It's a nice story, and there may be something there over the next few years if they can get some decent offense, like a good WR, but for this year I don't think I see them advancing any further than the Divisional Round at best.
SF I thought was still the best team, but injuries to Manningham and Davis are pretty rough to overcome. I think I read Davis could return, but you never know how a player will bounce back from a concussion, despite whatever "team doctors" say. I wouldn't count on him for anything until he shows it. So that hit knocked them out of Super Bowl contention, I think. They could still ride their defense to an NFC Championship game, as they're not as bad as they looked these past two games against NE and SEA, but if the offense isn't there, I don't think they can overcome that. So I agree with you, ICB, Green Bay looks like they have the best shot.
The NFC is kind of wide open though. I'm not sure I'd put any one team much higher than the other, as I think there's only 2 teams that does have a shot, and that's Seattle and MIN. I still don't trust ATL to do much, but I guess I wouldn't be all that surprised if they make it to the NFC Championship game.
Why is it that none of you will post in this thread unless I say something about Tom f**kin' Brady? Come on guys, I'm dying for some playoff talk, the damn Cowboys even have a shot at making the playoffs and this Week 17 is going to determine a lot of seedings this year. So can any of you guys bother to post some NFL talk, or do I have to somehow bring Brady up so I can see 6 new replies to this damn thread the next time I check?
Right now it's looking like the colts are getting the Bengals in the WC round which is definitely the easiest team, and a winnable game, but I'm not too confident after that mediocre performance at best in KC... I guys a decent judge will be bout #2 this weekend vs Houston
Colts, right now, are in line for the Ravens. Now, the 1-3 seeds in the AFC could all change on Sunday, so I don't know what that would do to the match ups right now. But honestly, I think Baltimore will be a very easy out. They'll be at home, but I think they're going to be very beatable. But I guess we never know how a rookie QB will do in the playoffs, especially against BAL's defense.
Just checking in with some Dallas hate. I love the fact that they are doing the thing where they make people hopeful and then crush their fans' dreams. It's delicious.
I don't think SF is going far. Word is that J. Smith has a partially torn triceps tendon, and a bone spur. Without him that D is not the same (look how the game changed when he was injured in NE, and how the Hawks rolled over them). Some of that was just good offense, but that guy sets the table for their D line and LBs. Without him, I don't see them going far.
Seahawks can't win on the road blahblahblah. Since Pete opened up the whole playbook in Chicago, this team is rolling. I like our chances on the road. Either Dallas or Washington, our D can hang and our O can score on them.
I think you're just upset that NE went 1-3 against the NFCW
God help the NFC if Seattle sneaks into the #2 spot.
The Seahawks are 3-5 on the road, only beating the panthers, bears and bills. And they haven't had a winning road season for... Probably since their 2005 Super Bowl loss year, off the top of my head. I guarantee the Seahawks are not coming out of the NFC this year, regardless of their seeding.
And I know winning and Seattle are oxymorons, but believe it or not its not very special or unique that a playoff team will be dominant at home. Most top seeds usually do to 7-1 or 8-0 at home. Not like there doing anything unusual or incredible. So no, god wouldn't need to help the NFC anymore than they'd have to help out a conference if any other team had a bye. There is a very over inflated sense of how good Seattle is it seems.

yea, i hear the people on NFL am talking about how cowboys should win this game...So im already counting on Dallas losing. Seems to be how it goes, commentators say they will lose, they win but if they say they will win they lose.
there's right and there's wrong, you gotta do one or the other If you do the one and your living you do the other you might be walking around but your dead as a beaver hat

Not gonna check the link at cause my cell battery is pretty low, but I think we'll lose a close game. Our offense will probably keep us in but our d is too tattered to stop them. Ware is playing with 1 arm, we have no line or MLB's and our safeties are terrible. Gonna be a rough nite.

f**k these refs on this challenge flag bullshit. They f**ked the Lions on Thanksgiving but somehow don't do the same thing to the Packers? Now I hate Rodgers even more....

they got a 15 yarder, but the fact that it was enforced after the supposed td was kinda bogus... im pretty sure after looking at multiple replays that his knee went down on the 1 or so and the ball didnt cross but oh well - guess refs wanna keep it interesting
I was more referring to how they screwed the Lions by saying if you throw the challenge flag on a play that already required a challenge then they are penalized and there is no challenge. Since the call on the field was a fumble and change of possession, there was already going to be a review so McCarthy growing the flag should have resulted in no review and the play standing as called just like on Thanksgiving with the Lions. Even Rodgers knew that's how it should have went and that's why he was so pissed. The screwed the Vikings on that.
